If your race were capable of fielding a OTS player, would you have one on your team?

Note: This is not an argument over whether OTS are broken and must be eradicated or whatnot, that's been covered in miscellaneous threads. What I'm asking is if, given the chance for your favorite team, you would build a OTS. (I know, dwarves/orcs might find this difficult to picture mentally, while woodies/skaven are faced that decision all the time, but work with me here...)

I wish I had 11 OTS.

I voted yes, but i really wanted an option that said, I'll use em if a can, and kill em if they're stupid enough to get to close to me Razz

Bah! Show me an Orc team that doesn't have a player capable of scoring in one turn, and I'll show you a starving Troll!

Wink

On topic: This sort of OTS I would have, the boring 11MA/Sprinty kind I normally wouldn't, though in a big Official Tourney I would probably reconsider...

i do believe they are a tacical option but in the hands of a bad coach they ruin a team, they becem reiled on to score A LOT of touchdowns stealing SPP from other teams members and it boosts Tr/TS ALOT and if tht players dies the team can hav it hard (if they relied too much on tht player)

OTS is one of the things Skaven can use to counter act the bashy grind. And any kind of player building is fine by me. Just expect me to have an urge to foul that claw/RSC abomination or the OTS - not because I mind these things it's just common sense.

I hate them and would never put one on my open teams. It takes NO coaching ability whatsoever to score with one. Id rather test my skills by trying to get a chain push TD with a MV9 fella. Sort of like using 5 DPs. Sure its a legal tactic, but its a broken rule.

If it's a tourney, then Id have to think twice about it

There are more cuestions:
Would you take Claw/RSC?
...DP?
Would you stall?
...cherrypick?

Fortunately this is an open sistem and we can choose Smile
Personally I play elves for fun, so OTS is fine for me, like Claw/RSC (but not RSC/Claw Smile ) or DP with moderation.
I dislike stalling, but this is clearly my fault Very Happy

Oh...okay, thanks Smile

On the subject at hand: I would use an OTS, but only for last minute runs when the score was tied. Otherwise, he'd be sitting in the dugout, eating oranges Razz

I would probably take Claw/RSC, but only because it's a rare chance to get a combination like that.
DP? Very unlikely, since I hate them. I also hate stallers (with a fervor greater than words), so I'd never, ever stall.
Cherrypick? If I'm in a bad mood, maybe. Otherwise...it's just a game.

well, I've had a MA11 GR (2x +MA skill rolls) that was capable of OTS - not that I used him for this other than to tie/win a game: OTS players tend to eat up all the spp your other players should be getting their share of.

I've actually given 2 GRs VLL on doubles (never done this before - allways gave 'em dauntless) as I allready had 1 dauntless GR on the team. The 2 VLL GRs were intended to be pass blockers and both of them had gotten +AG prior to getting VLL, so their job would be to act as pass blockers, not as OTS machines (why they'd never get sprint/surefeet neither).

In short, I do use OTS but I don't engineer my players to do so (sprint skill) because while an OTS specialist may be good in the short run, he has the potential to destroy your team in the long run.

I think it is a wise tactic to have one OT in your reserves, in case someting evil happens and you need that 1 TD to win/tie. Or to make 21 tD's in one game Smile

One turners are great for defence too. I used to have two MA11 Catchers on my Wood Elf team and they rarely ever did a one turn TD. But they were a nightmare on defence, one with Sidetstep, Tackle, Shadowing, and the other with Sidestep, Diving Tackle.

Meant I could force the opponent thrower to retreat to the end zone on their drive (if they came forward and caged then there were leaping AG5 players).

Ahhh those were the days...
