The user guide should tell you everything you need (click the Help/Faq button above). The installing JavaBBowl and Installing Java options are where you need to look.

Java is a program-language... No need to know that.
Click on the 'downloads' and you will find stuff you need.
Click on 'support' and you'll find even more help.

And use capital letters, komma, punctuation and questionmarks to be sure someone understand what you really meant...

Welcome!

Java from here:

http://java.sun.com/products/archive/index.html

Download the J2SDK/J2RE - 1.4 version - click go

JavaBBowl client here:

http://home.austin.rr.com/javabbowl/Files/Bbowl8_3.zip

JavaBBowl client 8.5 patch here:

http://home.austin.rr.com/javabbowl/Files/patch8_5.zip

===============

Instructions:

Download all three files.

Install java

Extract 8.3 zip file to somewhere easy to find e.g. your desktop

Extract 8.5 to desktop, go into it, highlight all files, cut them, paste them into the 8.3 directory on your desktop.

Make a team - on your overview page go to create team.

Wait till team approved. Or go into the chat area (under the overview button) and into the approval channel, posting the link to your team to get it approved earlier.

See this page:

It's the help files, fills in the blanks.

One day I'll write an idiots guide I suppose, unless someone beats me to it.

Think I've done most of that. I now have a folder with all of those files in and when I click on the bbowl jar file it runs, just not to sure on where to set up the teams or how to get a game going. Also just a quick thankyou to all that posted didn't think I would get such a helpful response

No problem, happy to have new players here. Just log onto IRC or the java-chat and come asking for games, that should get you started.
