Any advice: my snottling pump wagon has tackle and block. When he rolls for his next skill and doesnt get a double, what skill should I take (now that pro is no longer an option)???

Too many skills seem to be going the way of trait in my opinion, so that players in each category that arent rolling doubles end up choosing the same skills...

The only ones that I can see as possibly used are

strip ball, kick and guard.

Maybe passblock or shadowing but im not sure if they will work.

Guard shouldn't work, because ball & chains can not assist, but apparently they do give assists in the client. There's a bug report out there. So Guard's not a good choice.

Shadowing shouldn't work because they have no tackle zone.

Pass Block shouldn't work because they have no tackle zone, and can't catch the ball, so they shouldn't ever meet the condition for a pass block move. Wouldn't be surprised if this isn't the case in the client, but I have no idea.

Kick sounds like an OK idea, except for the fact that they're handy to put on the line for their unblockability.

There isn't much skill when you think about it beside block and tackle... Guard shouldn'T but if you can assist in the client it might worth it... before it gets fixed.

Well thanks oeuftete for the clarification. Since the only reason guard would work is a bug in the client, I wont take that.

If my pump wagon with block and tackle cant knock the ball carrier over with a 3d block, then its not worth its keep. SO i think kick is in order... Its so hard for anyone else to get it anyway.

Cheers for the replies

To quote the rules review.

"Q: Can a player who has no tackle zone assist blocks (assuming he is not in an enemy tackle zone)?

A: Yes."

It's not a bug in the client and never has been, a bone head who failed his roll or a ball and chain player do assist blocks.

From the LRB:

Goblin Fanatics are never allowed to pick up or catch the ball, and can’t be used to assist other players in a block.

Is it just me, or is the idea of a "pump wagon" getting skills retarded...it's a machine that can get block/tackle/pro/etc... and noone can do crap about it...can't block it, can't foul it... totally broken. i say give them "star" or "peaked" ability, that way they cannot gain skills

Yeah, except for that whole thing where it has a 1/6 chance of getting tired every turn followed by a 50/50 shot at dying. There is a reason you don't see pumpwagons or fanatics with lots of skills.

Also, it's against the FUMBBL rules to knowingly use a bug (guard skill on Ball & Chain) to your benefit. As FUMBBL follows the LRB to the best of its abilities (save stunty only team rosters).
