I think someone in GW has woken up and relised that their high prices are starting drive people away and stop potential newcomers from buying their stuff. (I know I have)

Yes, well with the now international success of Shadowforge and all the other mini companies that do "football" (not Blood Bowl, but we know what they mean) mini's, then GW realised that they are now in a very competitive market...

But having said that, I dont know too much about other games and the price decrease seems to be across all their lines...

Well one company that is very quickly growing to be a big threat is Privateer Press. They created and produce the table top game Warmachine and the new sister game HORDES!. Both of which cost a lot cheaper to start off and to build then comparable GW stuff.
They started off with the RPG Witchfire trilogy using D&D 3rd ed rules (they have now since updated to 3.5)

They then produced Warmachine which is a cross between fantasy and sci fi where magic meets steam power mayhem. Warmachine is now coming up to their 4th expansion.

Their new product: HORDES is a lot more fantasy based the Warmachine however they are both set in the same world just slightly different areas. HORDES was only released a little bit more then a month ago in Australia and nearly 2 months in the US.

You can find out more about PP at their website

And how will this affect those FLGS who have a large stock of GW products? Will they pay back some of the money those stores paid in the first place? If not, they are screwing the small stores, who are already in many cases in financial trouble, since everyone seems to be downloading their game books or buying them from Amazon, etc.

They used to be able to at least boast they had the best minitrues, but now privateer press' and Rackhams are better, at least imo, so they don't even have that anymore, all they have is the fan base

GW tries to change their distribution ways... Bloodbowl stuff will be available no longer in stores and even in the official ones here in Germany. The only way to get a hand on Bloodbowl minis is through the online shop.
