A brief and rough guide to mordheim online- By RagingGoblin.

First you will need to read the mordheim rulebook located here

http://www.specialist-games.com/mordheim/rulebook.asp one you have a decent understanding

of the rules and weapons. You should pick a race of warband. These are located on the

same site as the rulebook. Some in the warbands.pdf and others in the empire in flames pt

2 supplement theres also a couple under articles. Once you have found a warband that

suits you, you then have 500 gc to make your starting warband. It needs atleast 3 models.

You should make your warband in text format so it can be placed on the mordheim website

explained later on.

Now you know how to play you need to set up the client and get familiar with it.

http://www.vassalengine.org/community/index.php?option=com_static&dir=downloads&page=inde

x.html&Itemid=26 first go here and download the web launcher. While this is downloading

you should register on their website you can do so on the bottom left just beneath login

it takes just a few minutes. Once you have downloaded and installed the client you should

have a icon on your desktop for it. Now your ready to download the mordheim module for

vassal. You can find it here

http://www.vassalengine.org/community/index.php?option=com_vassal_modules&task=display&mo

dule_id=34&page=Files place it in the same directory as vassal was installed in. Once

done load up vassal via the icon on your desktop click play module and locate the

mordheim module you have just downloaded. Now your almost ready to play. This is where

all the warbands are stored so your oponent can see yours freely. During the campaign

this will need to be updated after each game.

http://wiki.vassalengine.org/doku.php?id=mordheim_warbands once logged in on the website

click edit and add your warband to the bottom. Be careful not to edit anyone elses

warband in the process.

If in doubt play an experienced player first who has used the client before

Now you need to find an oponent, hang about in the fumbbl irc channe; #mordheim and you

should be able to find one with relative ease. Now go back to your vassal and play the

mordheim module then click the connect arrows in the top left. Then also click the other

connect symbol in the top right which appears.

To host a game simply type a name in the new game box. Then once it loads click file then

new game. Once your oponent joins get him to right mouse button on your name in the chat

window and click syncronize. This will link you two to eachother. Now the person with the

lower warband rating rolls 2d6 and consults the scenario table to see which is being

played. Now you have decided on your scenario click tiles and goto terrain you may need. Don't forget to save frequently. This can be found on the toolbar under "file"

to resize these windows as they seem very tempremental. Take it inturn to place a piece

of terrain on the map until your both happy with it. THen place your warband by going to

tiles then units make sure all tiles placed have the relevant name corresponding to you

warband displayed on the website. Both players then deploy then dice off for first turn

unless the scenario says otherwise and start playing. Walls around building are

considered 4" high, freestanding rules around the city are 1" high. The thick wooden or

stone walls should be placed around the building. These are found in the construction

section. Any section of the building not covered by them is considered and entrance and u

may move/see/charge through. Also buildings are considered to be free of obstacles. Post

game sequence should be done ingame too once on warband is declared the victor that way

all rolls can be witnessed.

did all what??

Campaign Rules -

- No letting eachother win.

- Only edit your own warband.

- Spellcasters may pick their first spell.

- If unsure on a rule check the rule book http://www.specialist-games.com/mordheim/rulebook.asp if still unsure ask someone in #mordheim. If still unsure diceoff for it.

- You must have someone witness all your dice rolls. Don't cheat it will spoil the campaign for everyone and especially you.

- All the postgame sequences must be finished with your oponent before you both exit vassal. You may not play another game until you have fully completed your postgame.

- Your welcome to play 2 v 2 or 2 v 1 or even 3 v 1 games aslong as all parties are informed before the game starts.

- Only use official equipment or warbands unless you have obtained permission from me or diabl0

Have fun Smile any questions just shout

One edit to the rules, only spellcasters from NEW warbands may pick their first spell. When a warband gains a new spellcaster later on, they roll for their spells as normal.

Nah dude, don't let me put you off playing Skaven, nothing is ever 'taken', there can easily be several wrbands of the same race wandering about.

The leader of my warband, Sergei Todjavostov is keeping a journal of the events unfolding.
