This seems to be new in 5.4.

Formerly, the arrow was shown all the time. Now, while the mouse is over an eligible square, the mouse file disappears as long as the mouse is at the position of an eligible square. Since you cannot see how near you are to the border, fairly often a wrong square is chosen. I'd suggest to bring back the arrow over eligible squares!

Probably it's not showing the mouse icons, so you don't see anything.

I've switched over to using the keypad for my movement. Not really such a bad thing afterall. Now I need to learn all the other hotkeys, so I can put that mouse away completely Smile

You are probably missing the new cursor gif files or they are in the wrong place. Look in the "pics" folder for files name "cur*.gif" There should be 8 of them (curmove.gif, curdodge.gif, etc.). If they are not there redownload the 5.4 patch and make sure you extract these files to the pics folder.
