Hi all,

Recently finished my first ever online game on Javabowl, woohoo go me! But now I have a dilemma on what to do before my next game with my new shiny Skaven team.

I drew the first game 2-2, but one of my linerats suffered an injury and will miss the next game. I only have 11 players on the team, so now I'm down to 10. I have 60 grand in the bank and the linerat who is missing has no SPP points.

So should I:

- Buy a new linesman so I have 11 players for the next game?

- Buy an apo and use him to fix up the linerat before the game?

- Buy an apo but keep him for a possible in-game injury to a more important player and just play with 10 players.

- Something else?? Is it wrong if I wait until I find another team who are missing a player and then try to play them??

Cheers for any help guys!

Usually I would go with lino, but skaven are a special case: only the gutter runners are important - the rest is fodder. As long as you have your gutter runners, you can usually win. Get an apo now and see how it pans out.

Edit: wait... this is a clever way of pointing out that those who reply are noobs, right? Very Happy

1. option ..... buy lino and it will be like a new team... but you might loose the lino in the end agian.... then you would have to consider to create a new team....

2. long living option and as good as the lino option is buy the apo.... and play some games

3. my personally preferd option would be: retirement and imidiatly create a new team

Cheers guy, think I'll get the apo then. To be honest, I was tempted to retire and start again as I think I made a mistake going for the rat ogre but I'll stick with them for a while yet!

Get an apo. The injury to the linerat is not permanent. He will just miss one game ( which you can't fix with the apo before the game by the way, you can only prevent a player from getting hurt ingame, or if the player has a niggle you can apo him into the game ).
Also, don't use your apo on an injury that is not permanent ( death, stat loss, niggle ) and even then only if it's a useful player.
A linerat can stand on the los with 2 ag just as well. And, you will lose rats often, don't worry about buying too many linerats Smile

The most noob advice I can give, is to buy 6 cheerleaders!

a non perm injury is nothing to retire over. But i do agree that the rat ogre is not a good choice to start the team with.
i only buy one when i've got a 14 rat healthy team, and even then the rat ogre tends to die quickly.

LOL, guess I should've said "Noob looking advice" rather than looking for noob advice. My grammar skills have now subsequently increased a level, woohoo!!

Make more teams. At least one in every division should be fine. And decide if you want to focus on few races or even a single race to become a specialist, or to become a generalist and give all races a try.

I'll get round to making more teams eventually, when I played table top regularly (which was a good few years ago) undead was always my fave but the rules have changed for them now, especially with the changes in star players (I really miss having the vampire count on the team). But I always had a soft spot for the skaven team so I may just stick with them for the moment. I'm slowly getting to grips with the javabowl progamme though, i play very slooooowly!! Hopefully I'll quicken up as I play more.

you didnt make a mistake with the rat ogre. Always start with your big guy if you can afford it, he keeps your other players alive

That's true for Ogres and Trolls, who can sustain damage.
Rat Ogres are 120k meat bags that die just fine.

It takes the roll of 6 doubles to make a rat ogre worth his price.
With Block, Pro, Stand Firm, Dodge, Spikes and Two Heads he might be worth a try. Wink
