One of FUMBBL's favourite Trolls, Time & Again, has died competing in XFL Goblins II for his team, Are We Green Or Are You Blind in a semi-final game against Cheat, Creep and Foul. The team's apothecary had already been used to get the team's Star Goblin, The Fountainhead, to the match. The multi-talented Goblin survived (thanks to Iron Man), continues to lead the team and is said to be planning their next XFL campaign.
Though no smarter than any other Troll, Time & Again was blessed with a natural positional instinct and a remarkable lightness on his feet which caused endless trouble for opponents - although he did not live long enough for us to see his potential fully exploited.
In truth, the XFL was not a competition to which he was greatly suited: he attracted few, if any, blocks during the tournament and so had few opportunities to use his talents to the fullest. After the game his mourning team-mates remarked that only a Wizard - and a remarkable Wizard whose fireball also knocked down The Fountainhead, carrying the ball, in the same blast - could have killed him as he was almost invulnerable to mere blocks.
But all is far from gloomy in the camp in the wake of the famous Troll's departure, thanks to the development of promising new Goblin Broken Starr. A new Troll, Blood Bubble, has also been recruited - though there are many doubts that he can live up to the exploits of his predecessor in the XXXXL-sized number 1 jersey.
Amongst numerous career highlights, a match against the Racin Raiders will always be remembered, in which - as a mere Block Troll - Time & Again took personal affront at the coach's hiring of Ripper and set out to prove that he was the only Troll the team needed by claiming five casualties. In a later match against BoweL ProwlerS he found himself in possession of the ball, dumbly outwitting even the Norse team's Tacklers before - ever the entertainer - tripping in the snow as he tried to make a hand-off.
Rest well, a Troll who will live long in the memory of those who faced him and those who watched him! |
