Hi. I've taught myself a little HTML from messing around on FUMBBL, but I'm encountering a problem that I have no idea how to fix.

This is the team I'm having the issue with...

I get a "<" tossed in between the end of the "club history" table and the beginning of the "club information" table. Problem is, there is no extra "<" in the code... so I highlighted it and viewed source, it shows up as a "<" in the source code. Although, it's not there when I go to edit it. I've tried a few things, like removing the "<" that I put there (thinking the anomaly would take it's place, but it causes havoc instead). Any ideas?

Thanks, that did it. I scanned through looking for something like that, must have missed it. Then I got confused even more when I looked at the source code and saw the random special character there. =)

I read that post and kind of understand it, did touch it up a little... mostly the on table data that will change frequently. I guess I didn't do it completely wrong, my bio came out the same, except it's a little easier to navigate.

It's a bit late for hewlping you now but it might bo good for others in the future with a similar problem.

I had this on one of my pages that i was doing and couldn't find it after hours of staring at the code to the point my head hurt. Then some smart alec at work gave me the easy answer.....

if you have a rogue < (as in your case) then it's probbaly << in the code (as seen above).
copy paste the whole bio entry into notepad (or notepad++ as i'm regularly instructed in the office) and use the find feature to look for the most likely error "search <<" would have found it in an instant.
worked for me, shame i wasted so much time without really engaging my brain.

I'm pretty sure it's even easier than that. I hit view selection source or view page source and under "edit" there's a "find" option. Once you bring up the find window, just type in what you're looking for. Unfortunately, I'm a noob to html and wasn't sure what I was looking for.

I'm neither an html wiz but I find that building up the html code in peaces is generally a good idea. especially if using/editing someone elses work. By doing it in sections you automatically dummy-test it for every step of the way and so can save a considerable amount of time searching for a spelling-error in a code-jungle. Also it helps you organize what you are doing and gives better oversight.

I concur. After every change, I generally update and look it over. I think I missed that problem, because I made a few of adjustments without checking them individually. Then I got a little beyond my knowledge and couldn't find it while trying to trouble-shoot. =)
