The BCS National Championship has been played!

Oregon and Clemson met on the pitch, with the Waterfoul playing defense first. They swarmed the backfield but couldn't prevent a Clemson cage, though Oregon was able to knock the ball loose late in the drive and prevent any kind of score in the first half. The second half saw the ball get knocked loose by the Terror D, but Oregon freed it up and tossed it to their St4 Ag5 player, who ran out of rage of the D. The Clemson pursuit caught up a turn later, but Oregon scored and had to play solid defense for the next four turns in order to win a championship. Clemson again brought the ball up and made a cage, but the admin client kicked in and KOed one mummy on a 1d block, then BH the other on the same turn. The Terrors had to scramble to try and score with two turns left, moving the ball above most of the defense but left the ball carrier open. Oregon blitzed the blodging ghoul and (of course,) got double POWs, then scooped up the ball. Clemson had one last chance to tie things up on the final turn, needing a -2d blitz on the ball carrier (no skills besides St4 Ag5,) but got a skull on both rolls.
Congrats to both coaches on a fine season, especially to Coach K on winning his second championship. |

With another great season of NCBB action behind us, we finally have some time to pause before moving ahead. Now is the perfect time to look back one last time and identify some of the best players and coaches and give them their due awards.
Awards voting will be due on Saturday, February 5th. Please reply to the 'S9 Awards Voting' pm with your votes, or just private PM to me.
If you want to look at all the statistics from the past season, follow these steps:
1) go to http://www.pvv.ntnu.no/~brill/fumbbl/ and bookmark the page
2) click on tournaments, type in 6888 for the group number, then type in 28603 for the tournament ID, then hit 'Get tournament matches.'

SOMUFTEN Nominees
-The SOMUFTEN award, or the 'Coach of the Season' award, is given to the coach who best lead his program during the season, whether it was winning a championship, overcoming numerous obstacles, or just being the least hated. Coaches are listed in no particular order:
-DaTodfatha: won the championship last year at the cost of eight senior (and costly,) orcs, so he rebuilt in the offseason and slowly throughout the year and finished strong to end up at 4-2-3 before the bowl loss.
-Kryten: this lucker SOB lost the title game last season and had to completely rebuild his team. Special K did that and more, falling only twice and winning the championship over Clemson.
-Ex-convict: has manged to be remarkably consistent, being 0-5 in bowl games and winning five games each of the last three seasons. However this past season was arguably the most impressive, as the Lizards went from 257 TR in the bowl game last season down to 159 after graduation, mostly due to having to replace five saurri. So despite having a bunch of rookies, the Con man had a decent season capped off with a bowl loss yet again.
Khainek: the Noise coach dominated the Non-AQ last season, only dropping one game in addition to winning their bowl. But few expected big things from the norse against the big boys, but they certainly proved they belonged with a 5-2-2 record and a Rose Bowl victory. Not bad at all.
Gabbert-Bryant Nominees
-The Gabbert-Bryant award is given to the best quarterback, whether a passer, runner, or combination of the two, in the NCBB. Players are listed in no particular order:
-Tyler Brosius, N.C. State. 8 completions, 30 passing yards, 62 rushing yards, 6 blocks.
-Blaine Gabbert, Missouri. 10 completions, 56 passing yards, 26 rushing yards, 1 block.
-Greg Alexander, Hawaii. 14 completions, 21 passing yards, 55 rushing yards, 7 blocks.
-Herger, Nibraskah. 7 completions, 2 touchdowns, 35 passing yards, 92 rushing yards, 62 blocks.
-Derrick Washington, Missouri. 12 completions, 2 touchdowns, 28 passing yards, 39 rushing yards, 15 blocks.
-Korey Hall II, Noise State. 6 completions, 4 touchdowns, 22 passing yards, 87 rushing yards, 8 blocks.

New Award: Freshman of the Year
-As most of us know, players in the NCBB are only allowed to play for four seasons, and thus teams are always recruiting promising players to come in and continue on the tradition. This new award will be given to the best freshman player from the past season, whether he got a redshirt in the last-last season (in this case 8,) or was hired more recently. The following players are in no particular order:
-John Barrowman, Nevada. 7 completions, 1 touchdown, 1 interception, 26 passing yards, 79 rushing yards, 30 blocks.
-Wolfman Jack, Nevada. 6 touchdowns, 5 casualties, 102 rushing yards, 97 blocks.
-Chase "Hohlladung" Cresto, BlackKnights. 4 completions, 4 touchdowns, 2 casualties, 2 passing yards, 53 rushing yards, 38 blocks.
-Casanova, Nibraskah. 2 completions, 5 touchdowns, 8 passing yards, 26 rushing yards, 29 blocks.
-Mak McGroin, PainState. 7 completions, 2 touchdowns, 17 passing yards, 51 rushing yards, 6 blocks.
-Brian "Pink-eared Duck" Brewer, Oregon. 3 completions, 3 touchdowns, 12 passing yards, 41 rushing yards, 26 blocks.
So there you have it folks! As you can see, we have numerous worthy candidates for all of the awards, so I expect voting to be very close for most of them. With that said, here are my thoughts on each:
-Hammer: for me, it's a debate between Herger and Wolfman Jack, as both are stat increased monsters. But I'm leaning towards the ratman, as the impact of a St4 Ag5 blodging SSer on every aspect of the game is nearly impossible to calculate.
-Banger-Hardell: another close debate between Justin Killer, a St4 blodge surehand SS ghoul, and Josh Cody, an Ma7 Ag4 surehands block stripball Thrall. I'll give the edge to Josh because he has literally single-handedly carried Vandy the past 2-3 seasons with little help from his team.
-Neeley: Gabe "Lizard" King was the lone returning starting saurus on the Cal team, so he certainly took charge and showed his freshlizard teamates how to bring the pain, with an impressive 6.6 blocks-per-CAS ratio, the best of the nominees.
-Wylie Coyote: when I started making this list, I thought it'd be difficult to even find players, much less pick one. But I found a dozen or so great players that met their end one way or another, and this could easily be the most contested award this season. Billy Gruff was the heart and soul of Buffalo for three seasons...William Punisher was a beast for Clemson...Charles Ragland might have the most rushing yards in NCBB history, or at least in the restored era...a block, tackle Ogre like Ollie is rare but so awesome...both UCon werewolves were young but had very promising careers in front of them...Gabbert might be one of the best passers in the restorted NCBB era...the other two Mizzou players are equally as deadly...Justin was a nightmare to deal with for everyone but Kryten's admin dice...I missed a few but you get the point. Honestly I don't think anyone has a huge edge in this so I'll pick my lovely Ag4 Ma9 Spring skink, Charles, because he loved to run and he certainly did a good job at it.
SOMUFTEN: Khainek gets my vote for the Coach of the Season award, as playing Norse at this level as well as he did was very impressive. Big things are expected next season for his squad!
Gabbert-Bryant: this will come down to what style of QB the voters like more: Gabbert led the league in passing yards, Greg led in completions, Herger led the group in rushing, and Korey was perhaps the best 'dual-threat' thrower of the group. I love my boy Tyler but I think Gabbert wins the award consecutively.
Freshman of the Year: a new award that reflects the graduation + recruiting aspect of college football, this was difficult to find as Shraaags only listed stats, so it was easier to look at each team and try to find players with 12 games or less. I probably missed a few players, but out of those listed, I think Wolfman Jack is the best and has a great future in front of him.

Take your time and look at the players' skills, stats, and competition, then pick the one you think best fits the description for each award. CBBS Special Report: Season 9 All-Americans
Last year we unveiled the first ever All-American list of the top 14-16 players in the NCBB from season 8, split between offense, defense, and special teams. Fitz was even awesome enough to make a logo to go in these player's bios. I'm finally off my lazyness, seeing as ya'll are done with stuff I'm not much a part of. Applied a new wood elf team, since ya'll don't have any in the league, and I have time to actually participate now. I got fired at Dillard's, so for the first week or two I prolly have a clear schedule, and after that will go on regular working hours again, but not crazy christmas hours with no time. YAY COMING BACK?!?!?! |

So there you have it! Congrats to the season 9 winners, as well as all nominees for the awards. A few awards were a bit land-slidish, while several were pretty close. The Hammer saw the super-rat known as Herger emerge victorious over a super-wolf. The Neeley saw a Mummy and a Saurus tie with 3 votes each, letting MD Punisher win the award consecutively. The Wylie was perhaps the most difficult award to judge this year, as there were many, many qualified candidates. But the super-elf thrower known as Blaine Gabbert, who retired with 100 spps, won over J-Kill and B-Gruff. The Gabbert-Bryant award was equally as close, as eight candidates received votes. But the dual-threat Korey Hall II tied with completion-artist Greg Alexander and the award's half-namesake in Gabbert, while the six others were stuck on 1 vote each.
Again, congratulations to the winners and all the nominees on fine seasons. Best of luck to everyone in season 10!!! |

Breaking news! Torxas Reinstates Athletic Program
Reports from San Morcos today indicate that Torxas State Univeristy has decided to renew their athletic program and re-enter their football team in the NCBB. The once bowl-winning team has some fairly decent professional prospects in their blitzing core and coach Morty Flemburger hopes to lead the Kats back to their bowl winning ways. |

With another great NCBB season about to begin, and with several prominent programs shutting down their teams for a while given their financial troubles, the conference landscape around the league has changed! So without further delay, let's take a look at the conferences for the upcoming season:

Obviously with several programs shutting down for a while, we've had to detract the conferences a bit and make two slightly larger ones (the Bigger Beast?)
The Beast had five teams returning, so they all stuck together. Both the AKC and Smack 6 were cut in half, so the three remaining teams of each were combined together with torxas to make the Smack 7, while the two promoted Non-AQ teams from last season were added to the Beast. I think the conferences worked out pretty well, as both have a Necro team, both have an orc team, and both have a team with multiple St5 players. I want to start keeping the same teams together from season to season, which is why the new groups look as they are. Rivalries are the lifeblood of college football, so keep em going against your old foes!
The Non-AQ only has four new coaches, which is disappointing but not surprising given the future changes to the L group. I'm positive that we can grow the NCBB substantially once an FFB client is ready for it, but that won't be until season 11 at the earliest. So until that time, we're going to need several returning coaches to work an extra team in order to get the newbies a correct number of games (nine + possible bowl.) On that note, I need another returning coach to make a Non-AQ team in order to get us to ten teams (obviously a coach who doesn't have one listed above already.) Please let me know if you're willing to do so. Actually hold that thought, as I just got a PM from someone wanting to join the league, so we'll see where that goes.

CBBS Special Report: Season 10 Out-of-Conference Schedule
With season 10 starting tomorrow morning, now is a good time to announce the schedule for Out-of-Conference play. Recall that with two conferences of seven teams, each team will play six conference games. And since we aim for a nine game season + possible bowl game, that means each team needs 3 OoC games to complete their schedule. Thus I need to thank ryanfitz for coming up with a numerical system in order to randomize the games (which is actually a lot simpler than I thought it was.) So without further delay, here's the OoC schedule for the BCS teams:

Since the Non-AQ will hopefully have 10 teams, they'll just have a nine-game round robin tournament.
Both tournaments will be set up tomorrow morning, so do NOT try to play these games before then. As many of you know, we had a very strict system for last season that we will follow again. In case you forgot or didn't know, you will find out in the morning. Basically we'll have an open-round robin that will theoretically let you play any other team in the tournament, but I'll close down all the games that don't appear on the above list. Thus each team will have three open games, which they will have to follow in order, otherwise severe punishment will be issued.
I've skimmed over the schedule a few times and I'm very pleased with the matchups. I think we'll have quite a few good games in the opening weeks, though I must apologize in advance to Nico's BlackKnights for being issued two of the highest TR teams (Oregon and Noise) in the first two weeks. I know he's up for a challenge, but he didn't get any breaks with the randomizer! Feel free to go out and shock the world though

We found another team for the Non-AQ so we're good on teams. Honestly I don't think we need DD Tech back, given how Vader hasn't finished his games in the past. |

Rivarly vs Michigan and Rutgers is denied! We know they have an ax to grind after the beating we gave them in the off season. Yet we view it as an act of charity! UofM is well known for it's pro style play. Our program is a fast track for players to get into the NBFL. If a team can't survive a friendly with us then clearly they still have a lot of work to do before they are ready to get ready for the pros.
The rivarly between Michigan and OSU is one of the longest running and most bitter then the NCAA, so that is what we shall stick with here in the NCBB, assuming their drunken coach Jeffro has enough of his Irish courage to accept! |
