CBBS Announcement: Season 10 Award Winners

With another great NCBB season behind us, it's time to look back and honor those who dominated the college game. Here are the winners for each award:

Hammer Award- top player in the NCBB Image
Winner: Herger, Nibraskah, 5 votes.
Runner up: Shane "Fragging" Jones, BlackKnights, 2 votes.

Banger-Hardell Award- top offensive player Image
Winner: Malcom Lane, Hawaii, 8 votes.
Runner Up: Two-way tie with 1 vote each.

Neeley Award- top defensive player Image
Winner: Zach Luckett, Va Tech, 8 votes.
Runner up: BroOOos Sm'IFF, Mihn'eeSOH'tah, 2 votes.

Wylie Coyote Award- best player no longer with their team Image
Winner: Wolfman Jack, Nevada, 7 votes.
Runner up: Brandon "Stealth" Porter, BlackKnights, 2 votes.

Coach of the Season Award, aka the 'SOMUFTEN Award'- self exlpainatory Image
Winner: Apojar, Hawaii, 7.5 votes
Runner up: Kryten, Oregon, 3.5 votes.

Gabbert-Bryant Award- best quarterback, whether by air or ground, or both, in the NCBB Image
Winner: Bryant Moniz, Hawaii, 8 votes.
Runner up: John Barrowman, Nevada, 2 votes.

Wolfman Award- best first-year player Image
Winner: Malcom Lane, Hawaii, 5 votes.
Runner up: Heart Doctor, Yale, 3 vote.

So there you have it! Congrats to the season 10 winners, as well as all nominees for the awards. Unlike previous seasons, we had no ties this time, and really most of these votes were one-sided. The Hammer saw the super-rat known as Herger become only the second back-2-back Hammer recipient ever. The Neeley saw an Orc blitzer, Zach Luckett win the award, giving Nomad back-2-back Neeley winners. Hawaii likewise has back-2-back Gabbert-Bryant winners, as Bryant Moniz emerged victorious for the newly-dubbed "Quarterback U." The Wolfman was the closest race, but the superb catcher (often the target of Moniz,) Malcom Lane received the award.

Again, congratulations to the winners and all the nominees on fine seasons. Best of luck to everyone in season 11!!!

Herger thanks all those that voted for his 2nd Hammer award, though he wasn't even on the ballot. Hence his own coach wasn't smart enough to vote in his direction. Oh well, that coach has been fired (possibly because of his lack of initiative to lobby on Herger's behalf) and Herger has replaced said coach.

Just out of curiosity, when does the next season kick off? Or is that not scheduled yet? (Sorry if that's already been answered. I'm new here.)

Next season is scheduled to begin this Saturday, so new teams need to apply before then and hopefully get their three builder games in.

I am applied, but I will be at a conference all week, so I may or may not be available for my 1st week game until a week from Saturday. Depends on how many open bar evenings I can squeeze in Wink

Builder games? I'm sure that's in the thread somewhere, but what's the rule?

Basically you can play a friendly game against another new or newish (up to 2 games played,) NCBB team where neither side fouls or surfs opposing players (though surfing can be done if it is the only way to free the ball.) It's better than starting off the teams at 1000, as it gives you a few more spps and perhaps skills to use once the season kicks off.

Just want to make sure I'm with the program here.

By the way ex-con. It gives us a three-peat at the Neely Wink M.D. Punisher won it back to back (granted he shared the award last season) and now Zack Luckett won it Very Happy

CBBS Special Report: Season 10 All-Americans

Two years ago we unveiled the first ever All-American list of the top 14-16 players in the NCBB from season 8, split between offense, defense, and special teams. Fitz was even awesome enough to make a logo to go in these player's bios. So with another season complete, it's time once again to identify the best players in the league and put them on a 'super team,' aka the All-American team. Enjoy!

Offense:
Herger, Nibraskah.
Malcom Lane, Hawaii.
Moses Alipate, Mihn'eeSOH'tah.
Bryant Moniz, Hawaii.
John Barrowman, Nevada.
Heart Doctor, Yale.

Defense:
Zach Luckett, Va Tech.
Mike Vrabel, Ohio State.
BroOOos Sm'IFF, Mihn'eeSOH'tah.
Chrisss Adcock, California.
Shane "Fragging" Jones, BlackKnights.
Brother "Pacific Black Duck" Ryan, Oregon.
Jeramy Bryant, Hawaii.

Special Teams:
Shelby "Shelbyville" Jackson, BlackKnights.
Belta Bantah, Buffalo.

For those coaches who were lucky enough to have a player on this list, please put this image into their bio for all to see:

CBBS Special Report: Season 11 Out-of-Conference Schedule

With season 11 starting tomorrow morning, now is a good time to announce the schedule for Out-of-Conference play. Recall that with two conferences of seven teams, each team will play six conference games. And since we aim for a nine game season + possible bowl game, that means each team needs 3 OoC games to complete their schedule. So without further delay, here's the OoC schedule for the BCS teams:

Week 1:
Ohio State vs Oregon
Hawaii vs Buffalo
Pain vs UCon
Nevada vs Torxas
Nibraskah vs Clemson
BlackKnights vs Vandy
Cal vs Yale

Week 2:
Ohio State vs Yale
Hawaii vs Vandy
Pain vs Clemson
Nevada vs UCon
Nibraskah vs Torxas
BlackKnights vs Buffalo
Cal vs Oregon

Week 3:
Ohio State vs Clemson
Hawaii vs Torxas
Pain vs Yale
Nevada vs Vandy
Nibraskah vs Buffalo
BlackKnights vs Oregon
Cal vs UCon

Since the NonAQ will have 10 teams, they'll have a simple 9 game round robin tournament.

Both tournaments will be set up either tonight or tomorrow morning, so do NOT try to play these games before then. As many of you know, we have a very strict system for last season which we will follow again. Basically the OoC tournament will be an open round robin tournament that will theoretically allow you to play any team in the tournament, but I'll close down all of the games that don't appear on the list above. Thus each team will have three games open, which they will have to follow in order, otherwise severe punishment will be issued.

I've skimmed over the schedule and I'm very pleased with the matchups. We should have numerous good games over the the opening weeks, so best of luck to everyone! Be sure to pm your first two opponents about what times they are available.

We look forward to challenging Texas Chaospact University. We'll show them who the REAL Horned Frogs are.
