**Bob & Jim FUMBBL CUP Review**
Jim: Good evening Blood Bowl fans! Rnd 3 is getting close to deadline!
Bob: Absolutely, Jim. Let's have a look at coaches after match comments.
Jim: All right Bob. There we go!
smallnight (Dark elf) 2 vs 0 New Crobuzon Nobblers (Nurgle)
New Crobuzon Nobblers coach comments:
I'm sure there were others, but I feel like the mistake that cost me this result happened in the match before, when I let my CPOMB/Blockle Pesti get fouled to death. Losing my remaining Blockle Pesti in turn 3, and the Mauler's inability to roll a POW or POWPush in 6 dice and 2 failed loner rolls just sealed the deal. Oh, that and smallnight's blitzer escaping from the Mauler's ST6 Tents on a reroll on turn 7 to deny the last chance at redemption. Time to build some more tacklers...
smallnight coach comments:
I quite liked the look of this pairing. Only 2 tacklers, and 1 of them on the beast, and other had no claw or mb. I was able to keep good pressure on the ball early. A few snake dodges, made what should have been a simple task, quite a challenge in the end. Wizard tried to save the day on turn 8, but still scored thanks to my ag5. Some bad KO rolls really messed up my numbers for 2nd half, but thankfully his tacker was out early.
I put the ball carrier too close to the beast, which gave me some grief. Finally got loose for the 2-0 win. If most damage I get each game is 1 mng, I will be very happy.
Les Vent-Marcheurs (Chaos) 2 vs 1 smallnight (Dark elf)
smallnight coach comments:
He played very well, but don't feel I made any mistakes. Nuffle seemed to favour him today. He won the toss, and I got very close to stopping his TD, and even close to getting my own instead. Then perfect defence stops the OTS attempt with 8mass and reroll. I score in 2 turns, to give me time to steal his ball, have to do some brave attempts which just keep getting harder, and only I rolled the snakes and 2 skulls, and plenty of them.
Les Vent-Marcheurs coach comments:
Smallman played very well too. I have to correct something about my cages, there were breaches more than once!
The start was pretty difficult. Very hard to kick those damn elves out of the pitch. I didn't want to give him free blocks, he finds them very easily already. So I tried to find my breach between the black shirts. The end of the first half was very intense, and with a little bit of luck I've finally scored.
In second half I tried to bring his players at the center of my halfpitch, but I fell into his trap, trying to blitz his BC very early. Calcium failed, so it was an easy TD for Smallman.
6 turns to atta... hum, 5 turns, thanks to the ref. Here I start bashing with more precision, building semi cages, but finding my way to score.
Great defense from Smallman, he plays very well with his Darkies. Grats to you too.
I hope to learn every lesson this match can bring to me, for the next round.
Bloody Stumble (Chaos) 2 vs 1 We gOtZ XplosiVeS! (Goblin)

With some help from Nuffle and Morg 'n' Thorg I managed to keep the fun going. In the end, just a few dozen more 6s on the dice would've given me a win 
I'm amazed that noone got seriously hurt, would've thought there would be more blood.
Bloody Stumble coach comments:
A really tight competitive match right up too the final quarter. Shraaaag played better BB than me tonight and only the famous unreliable nature of the goblin roster saved me.
CRP Force (High elf) 2 vs 1 Purple Delvers (Dwarf)
Purple Delvers coach comments:
Round 2 of the FC, and sadly all a bit predictable.
The Evles wized the ball away and couldnt be caught, a near tragedy of 2-0 only prevented by a lucky block after a blitz.
They broke though a reasonable screen with an ag5 elf and despite 2 die on it it lived and they went 2-0.
The sun and rerolls going to GFI's meant the dorfs couldnt 2 turn, and when they 3 turned there wasnt enough time left to put any pressure on the elves, who ran out easy 2-1 victors.
CRP Force coach comments:
I think 'easy' is the last word I'd use! In both halves, I had a bad roll which accelerated everything to the point the big move (be that the Wizard or running forwards with the ball) had to work right away or I was sunk. I then got great rolls at those times and somewhat got away with it.
Any game I ship 50 blocks I should lose, and it's likely all got out of my direct control. PC was a gent who played very well, I just got the big numbers at the big times, and he did not.
Watchmen Philosophy (Chaos) 2 vs 0 Pellopanian Sensibilities (Lizardman)
Watchmen Philosophy coach comments:
"It wasn't fair what happened to you guys..."

The captains met at midfield for the coin toss - Sally Jupiter and Mothman faced Akhaia and Korinthia. Sally looked at both of them as the referee flipped the coin into the air, and gave both of them a cold stare. Something in her eyes made them look away.
The toss fell to the Watchmen, who chose to receive. With a one-two punch from Mothman and Nite Owl, the Pellopanian Sensibilities were down two saurii. The kick was close to the line so there was a danger that a slippery skink might slip through the cracks, so The Comedian was brought in next to the ball to ensure that they didn't scamper off with it.
Pellopanian Sensibilities took to the offensive in their turn, bringing Attica in to foul Sally Jupiter as she lay prone on the pitch. The ref failed to see the boot to the head, but it also failed to have the same effect the fouls in the matchup against the Naggaroth Zaphyrs. A failed pickup by the star player Lottabottol left the Watchmen in good position to capitalize on more blocks.
Attica paid for his foul the following turn as Mothman blitzed him away from Sally Jupiter. Dr. Manhattan scooped up the ball and surveyed the scene - three of the Pellopanian Sensibilities were gone from the pitch, eight more remained.
Again the foul came from one of the skinks, and this time it was spotted by the referee. Kynuria was sent off the field amid a hail of curses - it's not too often that skink is spotted performing underhanded tricks.
Messenia IV took a hard shot from Dr. Manhattan the following turn and the tide seemed to be flowing in Watchmen Philosophy's favor. But soon thereafter Nite Owl, Hooded Justice, and Big Figure all were knocked out.
Watchmen Philosophy ended the half on a high note though, as Akhaia and Lacedaemon II were both sent permanently to the casualty box just before Dr. Manhattan walked the ball into the endzone for the first score of the game.
Watchmen Philosophy 1, Pellopanian Sensibilities 0.
The start of the second half offered a glimmer of hope to the lizardmen - Silk Spectre took a shot to the ribs from Korinthia who had returned from the KO box during the halftime break. Drawing closer to level the player tally for each team stood at ten for Watchmen Philosophy and nine for Pellopanian Sensibilities.
The Sensibilities retreated deep with the ball however, and their gang foul on Dollar Bill made it easy to surround the core of their defense with a majority of the killers from Watchmen Philosophy. Amalaida tried to break free to foul Dollar Bill a second time, but he was held fast by The Comedian and prevented from inflicting any damage.
Mothman took care of Athens II on the following turn and Korinthia fouled Hollis Mason in another attempt to remove one of the killers from the pitch. Dollar Bill interfered in the effort however, and protected Hollis Mason from the boot. That foul would prove ill-advised, as it exposed Korinthia to a blitz from Sally Jupiter the very next turn - and Korinthia paid for the foul attempt with his life. Big Figure finished off the turn by stepping up to Amalaida and laying into him with a boot to the head. Down went Amalaida.
Crete II continued to play catch with Lottabottol near their own endzone, but eventually Mothman and Rorschach arrived to break up the party. Eleia, Arcas, and Argolis were well-contained at midfield and Rorschach's foul on Lottabottol left Nite Owl with a clear path to the endzone.
A few passed turns later and Nite Owl capitalized on that clear path, securing the final tally on a blood-soaked pitch.
Watchmen Philosophy 2, Pellopanian Sensibilities 0.
Azure Claw Squad (Chaos Dwarf) 2 vs 1 Waaagh-shington Greenskins (Orc)
Azure Claw Squad coach comments:
A bloody matchup this one was. Did I mention the blood? Oh it flowed big time this game - a game that went the distance and was good fun throughout. In the first half, the orcs marched the length of the field and scored - but were forced to at least score a bit faster than maybe they wanted to. With some time on the clock, the Squad pushed forward with Steve well protected and making roads up the sideline - this pulled out the induced wizard which worked to perfection taking down two of three players and exposing steve to the easy takedown. Both sides had a chance here - but no one could make a play and the half ended 0-1 in favor of the Orcs.
Second half, the Squad started to put a hurt into the Orcs - even with a deep bench, they started to thin out after constant pounding from the dwarf blockers. Although the harshest blow as the snaked dodge that fractured Gorg (legend blitzer)'s skull. With him out in addition to the morgue being overcrowded - the Orcs evenutally just did not have the numbers. The Squad scored - but did not push the action, settling for the OT. The orcs had no RRs, and could not make the TTM...so it went to OT tied 1-1.
Overtime saw the Orcs win the toss but down to just a few players now, the Squad contained them and eventually stripped the ball free and after failing to get the ball to Anika, Steve took it in for the 2-1 victory.
Well played by Kam - game could have gone either way, but in the end harsh CAS dice for him saw his team butchered and his chances in this one slip away. Thanks for the game and good luck with the team!
Justice Ranked (Necromantic) 1 vs 0 Elemental Chaos (Chaos)
Elemental Chaos coach comments:
I knew it would be an uphill battle vs. a very good coach with a very strong team. Nuffle did not favour us this game, best we could manage was a few KO's when we needed serious bloodshed.
First half we lost the toss and managed to ko enough players to force Jock to score on turn 6. Then we failed to pick up the ball on consecutive turns, destroying any chance to score.
Second half we were still unable to do any damage aside from a couple of ko's. Then a puny ghoul blocked our much much larger beastman ball carrier knocking him senseless. After that it was over, just for fun we finally got a couple casualties once the game was over.
Good luck in the rest of the tourney Jock, I might have been able to position a little better but don't think i could have won this one. Knocking the ball loose with the weakling block really broke my spirit, after that i played poorly.
Gbangoos (Necromantic) 2 vs 0 Souless Slayers (Undead)
Souless Slayers coach comments:
The Slayers did turn up, but that was about it! Think they were slightly awed by the far stronger opposition.
They did mill about the pitch abit and occasional got in a block. But they were very subdued.
The team came away with just 5 ssp's the MVP award!! Says it all
I Want My MTV (Necromantic) 2 vs 1 Aguilas Negras (Dark Elf)
I Want My MTV coach comments:
Unbelievable finish. After having a good first half, followed by a horrible second half I thought the MTV crew was heading into overtime. The Aguilas Negras took out our ghoul who was in scoring range and the only chance I had was for Cult of Personality to catch a pass from I Ran (So Far Away), blitz a sidestepper and drop him on the first hit, then dodge through 2 TZs and out of a 3rd TZ all without being able to use Dodge, then make 2 GFIs. I had 1 reroll left but decided not to save it for OT. We used the reroll on the first dodge then made everything else. I was stunned. I couldn't hear the crowd, but I suspect there were equal parts jeers and cheers.
Thanks for the game, anisdrin. You played well and probably would have won in OT.
Cold Fury III (Dark Elf) 3 vs 1 Love is a Two-Way Street (Amazon)
Cold Fury III coach comments:
A scrambling match for Cold Fury yet again. Luckily the Amazons came out late from halftime and were not properly warmed up. This allowed us to catch them flat footed in the opening KO of the 2nd half.
We had the ball screened and secure when Lisa Nixon decided to put her Love teammates on her back and pulled off one of the best blitzes of all time. Unfortunately her teammates couldn't step up, and Cold Fury managed to pull off the win, in a game that was much closer than the final score. |

The FC is entering the phase of the tournament when we start replacing out quanity of matches for quality matches BUT that means they are now spread out with down time. |

** Milford from the FUMBBL Cup **
The action has been hot and heavy. Fame and glory crushed, players crippled and maimed, the body count of dead continues to rise, coaches fortunes waxing and waining and hopes and dreams unfullfiled as coaches have to sit around for another year waiting to get that vomit taste of defeat out of their mouths and revenge in next years FUMBBL Cup.
Some teams though are rising to the top. They can see the golden trophy, they have reknewed hope that they can win it all. Which means all but one of them will be crestfallen as they come up short in defeat and then hit the pubs on a one week long binge fest of drunkeness, wandering around in a stupor and declaring: "How, Why, woe is me, I HATE YOU NUFFLE, I was so close to greatness!!!"
