CHEFCTER: Welcome back, folks. You're watching the NBFL Draft Review and Analysis Show. By now, you know who we are and why we're here.

WIPER JR: Stabby,If they didn't turn of the power in this place at night, I'd never leave.

CHEFCTER: That's how much we love what we do, folks. And we love bringing it to you, so let's keep rolling along.

This next squad finished 3rd in the most competitive division in all the NBFL last year, the NFC East, while still having just shy of a .600 winning percentage. These guys score in droves, so you'd better be ready to play some serious defense against...

19. DALLAS

Race: Wood Elf
Player Selected: Linus Delf (Texas S&M)
Skills: Wrestle, Dodge, Side Step
Position: Lineman

Grade of Pick: B

CHEFCTER: Coach OTS has gotten a lot out of the boys from Big D. You're going to have some serious success in the NBFL when you score over 2.75 touchdowns per match played (2.776 to be precise). Buidling a scoring dynamo doesn't come without its pitfalls, however. Injuries grab hold of teams such as this with such a force that it often suffocates them. Combine that with high price tags on players, and you begin to learn how difficult it is to compete with speed.

Since we know that injuries happen, let's see where they've hit Dallas the hardest, to see where the improvement would be most needed.

TREEMAN: No. Ed "Too Tall" Jones is on the squad. He's young, but he's already developed Block. There's a lot of potential for him going forward. I wouldn't think there would be a lot of improvement to be made here.

WARDANCER: Not necessary. There's two very good ones on the squad. Victor Butler seeks to remove the ball from the opponent. Randy White seeks to remove the opponent from the field. They're both good at what they do. No reason to look at improvement here.

CATCHER: YES. Dallas is permitted to employ 4 Catchers on the squad. They have a bona-fide stud in the likes of Tony Hill. They have a younger, developing Catcher in Terelle Owens who is starting to come into his own. Because Dallas is only operating with 50% of its Catcher allotment on board, this is definitely an area where significant improvement can be made.

THROWER: No. The Dendrophiliacs only employ one at a time, and Danny White Elm is still around. The ball can get anywhere on the pitch on anything above a 2. Ball control and distribution is his specialty, so there's no improvement to be sought here.

LINEMAN: Yes. At the end of the season, Dallas is only returning 3 Linemen, only one of which has any skill. Brandon Carr is pretty valuable, however, as he's already developed Guard. This team needs a solid, supporting group of Linemen to help it function to its capability. There's a lot of room for improvement to be made here.

So, looking through the squad, the first need appears to be a solid support Lineman. The second need would be a Catcher, as you have to score in the NBFL to get those precious Wins. Let's first look through the Lineman section to see who is still available in the draft room.

For Wood Elf Linemen, there are lots of different ways the front office could go here. You could opt for a bit more true support with Guard. You could draft a ball hunter, bringing skills like Strip Ball, or Tackle. Dallas elects to draft a road-block type of player in Linus Delf out of Texas S&M. He is able to clog up a gap with his "annoying" skills of Wrestle, Side Step and Dodge. He's very difficult to bring down without committing some Tackle to the area.

There are at least 2 other very qualified candidates that Dallas could have selected, and nobody would complain. That's the unsung beauty of drafting a quality Lineman. They're not labeled as "sexy" picks (unless they come out of the University of Arizona), but they serve the greater good by performing all the thankless tasks that have to get done.

In all honesty, it seems almost unfair to grade this pick as a B. The reality of Dallas' situation is this: the need for Linemen is great; even greater than a 3rd Catcher. The front office assesses this situation correctly. There just isn't anyone remaining in the draft pool that would really be an A-type grade for the Dendrophiliacs. In the end, they get a player they need, and improves the squad. That's what is most important to Dallas moving forward.

WIPER JR: It's a rare circumstance that a team drafts a player they need, and doesn't get an A for it. It appears that this was one of those circumstances, but it's not due to anyone making a mistake. The stars just aligned in a way that there was just no A-grade players available. Our system isn't really perfect, and doesn't really take this issue into consideration yet when generating a grade. On to number 20.

This next club is an original squad. They've had the doors open for all these years. They've also been tearing people new corn chutes since they began...

20. ATLATL'N

Race; Lizardman
Player Selected: Maurice Bennett - California
Skills: Block, Dodge, Break Tackle - 36 points
Position: Saurus

Grade of Pick: A+

WIPER JR: The story on their home page is absolutely true. Many years ago, when Commissioner Eisen used to submit All-Star ballots to coaches, there was once a write-in from the coach of the Arizona Cardinalz. Coach Apojar scrawled on the bottom of the ballot: "WRITE-IN VOTE: The entire (CENSORED) front line of the Atlatl'n' Falchions.

Their history is of stout, brutish, bullying front lines, with dynamic speed following behind. They mean business every time they take the pitch. It seems like last season might be the very first time they missed out on Playoff contention, despite finishing 2nd in the NFC South last year. How could this have happened? Injuries ravaged this squad at the end of the year.

Let's look at the squad to see where the needs are greatest.

KROXIGOR: It's a need, yes. They ended last season without one on the roster. It's certainly an important position to fill.

SAURUS: YES. With only 4 of 6 spots filled on the squad, this is probably going to be the greatest need to fill. They are the heart and soul of the franchise, and a significant part of what makes them great. This is an immense need.

SKINK: Yes. There are only 5 left on the squad at the end of the season last year. 2 of them are excellent. The other 3 are still good, but only one skill into their young careers. It's a need.

We seem to need a lot, but by far, the Saurus is the most important position to address.

Since they qualify in the Strength category, this works to their advantage. Nobody has drafted as of yet out of the category, as it's been characterized as being very thin this season. The best player in the section, by far, is Maurice Bennett, coming out of college with Block, Dodge, and Break Tackle, a BEAUTIFUL set of skills for a Saurus. It allows him to be a bit more mobile, while having a bit of defensive capability. You have to commit a Tackler to increase your chances against him. You also can't tie him up with any old player anymore; he can sneak away to deal with other threats in front of him. This is a great choice for coach ryanfitz.

It may seem like an under-whelming review for this pick, but it's the right one to make. A player coming out of "Lizardman U" (NCBB folks refer to it as California) gets to head to a Lizardman system in the NBFL. It's really the best possible scenario for all parties involved. Great choice. He will hopefully prove to be the right choice for the Falchions for many seasons to come.

CHEFCTER: Stay tuned, folks. We're through the first 20 teams from last season. From now on, it's all about last year's playoff teams. Did the "big guys" on the block get better? Did anyone take a step backward? You'll have to stay tuned to find out.

WIPER JR: We also have a few compensatory picks at the end of the draft for some of our newer squads joining the NBFL this season.

CHEFCTER: How right you are, Killy. They're exciting to discuss also, as it begins to give you the entire picture of what the new teams will look like. Stick around. There's plenty more to come!

CHEFCTER: We are back, fellow NBFL'ers. You are watching the Season 14 edition of the NBFL Draft Review and Analysis Show. You know who we are. You also know who you are.

WIPER JR: It's playoff talk time, Stabby.

CHEFCTER: How right you are, Killy. We're through the first 20 teams of last season, which means we're now set to talk about last season's Playoff teams.
These are the squads that were close to the top, but are looking for that extra push to get them into the Super Bowl. Our next squad was a Wild Card team, qualifying from the highly competitive AFC West. They are, ironically, a team that has been around for quite a long time.

21...FANGSAS CITY

Race: Vampire
Player Selected: Kentaro Sakomichi (Nippon University)
Skills: Block, Dodge - 16 points
Position: Vampire

Grade of Pick: A

CHEFCTER: Vampires. Moreover, THESE Vampires. They've been quite good for a long time now. There isn't anything these guys can't do. They run. They hit. They pass. They stare lovingly into your eyes, which we are told isn't a good thing.

They were ousted from the post-season by the eventual AFC Champions when the Chiefs found themselves out of rerolls when it mattered late in the 2nd. Still, they had a LOT to be proud of. There hasn't been a Vampire team in the NBFL that has been nearly as successful since the early stages of the league. They are the franchise that has now raised the bar for what we at BSDN refer to as "fringe races". By that, we mean the races that are the least played in typical League formats.

It is normally at this point that we would take a look at the team's roster to see where improvement is most needed. With Vampires, however, it seems somewhat counter-productive to draft a Thrall. Coach Nekran subscribes to the idea that "every Thrall is biteable. Suffice it to say, we're looking to pick up a Vampire.

They qualify in 3 different sections, so we have a wide assortment of players to choose from. If we look at the best folks that are available from each section for Fangsas City, here's what we come up with:

Darkball Johnson - Dodge, Guard - 16 pts.
Chirashi Zushi - Block, Mighty Blow - 25 pts.
Kentaro Sakomichi - Block, Dodge - 16 pts.

All three add a different aspect to the current roster. Fangsas City ulitmately selects Sakomichi. He has a bit more defensive reliability with Blodge. He's not really a traditional "support" player yet, but can easily develop into one if asked to. The other two players are also very good, but are more one-dimensional in their approach. Sakomichi will grow to fill whatever role is needed when he is eligible. It's a good pick to make.

It is generally accepted here at BSDN that a 2-skill Vampire would outweigh almost any Thrall available with less than 4 skills. Chances also would be very thin that a Thrall of any consequence would never have made it down to the 21st pick, especially when he's really nothing but potential food.

On a side note, I'd like to ask the rest of the NBFL: How in goodness name is Matt Cassel still alive and playing? Fangsas City has played 115 games, with Cassel playing in every single one of them?!?!? What is going on here, AFC West?!?

WIPER JR: Not a Cassel fan, Stabby?

CHEFCTER: Oh, of course I am. I just hope to bring some atttention to a player who constantly flies under the radar in the NBFL. The guy's a true ironman.

WIPER JR: I couldn't agree with you more, Stabby. Any coach who says he wouldn't want a 4/4 Block, Dodge, Pass, Sure Hands, Strong Arm, (+AG) player on his squad would be flat out lying to you. But enough about Fangsas City for now.

Our 22nd team finished in 2nd place in the AFC North last season. They are also some of the long-standing warriors of the NBFL, having played over 180 games so far.

22. PITTSBURGH

Race: Chaos Dwarf
Player Selected: Yanice Derrick - Missouri
Skills: Dirty Player, (+ST) - 17 points
Position: Hobgoblin

Grade of Pick: B

WIPER JR: The Pirates have been doing this for a long time now. They know what it takes to put forth a competitive product in the AFC North. They don't have an NBFL Championship on the resume...yet. It's only a matter of time before they rise to the top of the land.

The Pirates get it done by, more often than not, raping your face, then hunting down the rest of your family for the same treatment. It's not pretty, but they plod down the field with a predictable pace, mangling everything in their path. They still manage to play a solid, balanced offensive game as well, making them a difficult team to account for.

There are a few vacancies that need to be filled on the squad, so let's see where we can add some depth and improvement to the squad.

BULL CENTAUR: Maybe, but not likely. There's a youngster just coming into his own on the squad named BigBen the 3rd. He's already developed Block. There won't be an amazing upgrade available this late in the draft for the position, but we'll look when the time comes. Chances are, this is not the place where siginificant upgrade will take place.

CHAOS DWARF BLOCKER: Yes. There is certainly improvement that can be made here. These guys are the heart and soul of the squad. They make everything happen. They are permitted 6 on the squad, but currently only have 5. There would be a good deal of improvement to be made here if they could find an appropriate 2 or 3-skill player to fit the bill.

HOBGOBLIN: Possibly, yes. There are 5 on the squad as of this writing, but 3 of them are complete rookies. The two elder statesmen are both stat-mongers. There certainly is improvement that can be made here.

MINOTAUR: Yes. Pittsburgh has employed them in the past, so they're not adverse to the position. It is not the most important position to address, but if there's someone decent, it would offer some very good improvement. We will consider it as we go.

Out of our four choices, it seems like a Chaos Dwarf Blocker would be the primary need. Second, we'd look at a Hobgoblin, then a Minotaur. Let's dive right in to who we have available, starting with the Linemen and Blitzer sections.

In our first section, there are nice players availabe, but nobody that really fits the mold Pittsburgh is searching for. It seems like the players fall just shy of what Coach Nicodemus1 is in need of for the front lines. That leaves us looking at the next section, the Blitzers. Our best option is located here, in the person of Dakota Cromwell from Arizona. She comes out of college with Guard and Stand Firm on board; two rather desirable skills for the Pirates. This would be a nice addition to the squad. Let's still look, however, at our other possible candidates.

We'll search next for a Hobgoblin. At first glance, there's no ball-carrier available in the draft, something that the squad can sure use. That leaves us with a lot of different ways that Pittsburgh can seek to address this area. The best candidate out there, it turns out, is Yanice Derrick out of Missouri. He is another stat-monger, which is a perfect mold into the existing Hobgoblin core. He also comes with Dirty Player, which also fits the pre-existing plan.

Our choices out there for a Minotaur are far fewer. The leader would have to be the oft-overlooked Toe Knee Duhn Gee out of Mihn'eeSOH'tah. He declared for the draft with 3 skills, but nothing special or unique thus far. He would certainly suffice, but he doesn't offer a great deal of improvement to the squad.

Our best option out of the Bull Centaur position would have to be Nori Shiima out of Nippon University, coming with Block, Tackle, and Break Tackle. It's a nice collection of skills, but does not offer enough improvement over what is currently on the roster.

The Pirates decide to draft Derrick, the quality Hobgoblin. We here at BSDN felt that the pick may have been better suited to drafting Cromwell, the CDB. This squad, as currently comprised, is in DIRE need of Guard. They only currently employ 2, one of which is a 1-skill Hobgoblin. It's the skill that is the bread and butter for Chaos Dwarves. For the long-term development of Pittsburgh, Cromwell would have offered the greatest amount of improvement for the club.

Derrick is still a player of very high quality, truth be told. His skillset, however, just doesn't offer the same amount of improvement to the squad that adding a Guard Chaos Dwarf Blocker would.

CHEFCTER: Stay with us, sports fans. We dive further in to last season's Playoff picture in our next segment, looking at the 2 NFC Wild Card squads. Stick around folks. We're getting closer and closer to the Super Bowl champs. Stick around!

CHEFCTER: Folks, we are back! You're watching the NBFL Draft Review and Analysis Show. I'm Stabbem Chefcter, your co-host and hardcore fan. Alongside me is a former executive of a few teams in the League, Mr. Kill Wiper Jr.

WIPER JR: As always, a pleasure to be here with you and the fellow Blood Bowl fans, Stabby.

CHEFCTER: We've dipped our toe into last season's playoff pool with our last segment. Let's continue up the ladder by dissecting the next two teams; last season's NFC Wild Card round losers.. Pick 23 belongs to a bullying, brutish team residing in the NFC West. They impose their wills on their opponents, as well as some boots and bruises...

23. BAN FRANCISCO

Race: Orc
Player Selected: Evan Wieks (Fresno State)
Skills: Wrestle, Tackle, (+MA) - 34 points
Position: Goblin

Grade of Pick: B-

CHEFCTER: Ban Fran is a force. They're not only physical; they're very well-balanced, which is one of the numerous reasons why they were the AFC West division champions last season. They were eliminated from the playoffs last season by Detroilet in one of the more exciting playoff matches we've had in quite some time.

A few players have some minor nicks and bruises, but all in all, this is a very tight squad. Let's take a look at it to decide where we can improve the roster the most.

TROLL: Nope. The venerable Phoney Tro'Selli is still going strong. He's lost a little bit of his toughness and agility, but he is still one of the better Big Guys that play in the NBFL.

BLACK ORC BLOCKER: No. This could be, arguably, one of the best front lines to play in the NBFL in a long time. These guys stir memories and comparisons to some of the old Atlat'l front lines of yore. These guys do everything. Even having a few of these guys starting to slow down, there's no need to seek improvement here.

BLITZER: No. These guys have a healthy mix of support and offensive capabilities. I don't really think you'd find radical improvement here.

THROWER: Yes. There isn't one on the squad at the moment. Looking at their past history, coach keggiemckill has employed them in the past. This is certainly a place that improvement can be made.

LINEMAN: Possibly. Ban Fran employs 3 as of now, one of which is the famous Tui Tuiasosopo. He's quite the player, being a double stat-monger. He's the club's ball handler, having developed Sure Hands. The other players in this position are role-fillers, being asked to handle certain holes. In all likelihood, this isn't the first place I would seek to add improvement on the squad.

GOBLIN: Probably not, no. Emmit Smith is still on the roster, filling a great deal of needs for the squad. The front office is permitted to employ 2, but it would be incredibly rare for the squad to field more than 1 at the same time. Smith is SO good. He'd be the guy that you'd want to play on the field. This is not really the place to look for improvement.

It would appear, as per our roster break-down, that the Footy Fighters are in the very enviable position of being able to draft the "best player available". It is true that the squad doesn't currently employ a Thrower, but that is becoming more and more by design. With at least two players on the squad with AG4 (yes, one of which is a Goblin, but ag4 is still ag4), the only additional upgrade that a Thrower would add would be the possibility of a "less costly" throwing game. We mean less costly in the way that they at least bring the Pass skill to the table without rolling a double.

Looking through the various sections, we come up with this list as our "best in section" to choose from.

For a Lineman or a Goblin, best available is Evan Wieks
For a Black Orc Blocker, best available is Chirashi Zushi
For a Blitzer, best available is Alex Freeman
For a Thrower, best available is Tim Beelzeburberson

We're not even going to search through for a Troll, as we know there really isn't going to be an improvement available through the draft.
Considering the player that is available for each position, and weighing that against who is currently employed on the roster. we here at BSDN come to a conclusion that the player that makes the most sense to add would be Thrower Tim Beelzeburberson out of Air Force. He comes with Block, Kick and the Leader skill on board. He would allow keggiemckill to cut some salary cap (TV) off his bottom line by adding a cheaper reroll if he plays the Thrower. He comes of course with Sure Hands and Pass, but he's also a defensive assist with Kick. BSDN is a big fan of a well-utilized kicking game, as it allows you so much more defensive flexibility.

In all honestly, we're really only talking about bench depth for this squad. We know that when Ban Fran lines up, we're already going to see:

4 Blitzers
4 Black Orc Blockers
1 Troll

That only leaves two slots left to rotate in and out. That's the reason why this really comes down to the depth being added to the bench. On offense, you're going to see Tuiasosopo. That only leaves one player to fill the offensive side of the ball which, in all likelihood, would be Woody Harrelson. On defense, there's certainly room for a player who can Kick, but he can also serve as the back-up ball handler. He just adds a deeper depth, if that makes sense.

The Footy Fighters' front office comes to a decision, and drafts Evan Wieks, which is also a quality player. They position him, however, as a Goblin, which comes as a bit of a surprise. There are some nice Pros to this decision, but we wonder if he'll ever see the pitch, having to wait in line behind many other players, but that is the beauty of Ban Francisco right now. They're only having to draft for depth now. In the end, they get a good player for the bench, so that's really all that is going to matter to the Footy Fighters.

WIPER JR: I would need to sit and watch some more game film of Ban Francisco to be able to make that decision, Stabby. There's no doubt though that their position was so advantageous, compared to any of the teams that have come before. They didn't NEED anybody to step in and make a difference right away. They only had to add to the "next man up" situation for their club. That's a credit to a good squad and good coaching.

Our next squad also qualified as a Wild Card from the NFC last season. They play in the NBFL's most difficult division, the NFC East. They are a bit of a younger team who find themselves on the up and up.

24. NEW YORK GIANT LEECHES

Race: Vampire
Player Selected: Kurz John (Oregon)
Skills: Wrestle, Tackle - 23 points
Position: Thrall

Grade of Position: A

WIPER JR: The_Provocateur and his squad are a delight to watch. They're becoming a perennial for the Playoff picture in the NFC, having qualified two years in a row now. It's unfortunate that they've been eliminated in the first round, but it's sure not for lack of effort. These guys may just be the best kept secret in all of the NBFL.

Let's take a look at the team as it ended last season, and see where we can add some depth and improvement.

VAMPIRE: Maybe. The squad currently has 4 on the roster. Adding a 5th may not be a terrible idea, but you would want to get someone who has some good development already. Though Vampires skill up rather quickly, it sure helps to recruit one that is skilled up well. This might be a place that can be upgraded.

THRALL: Maybe. More than likely, yes. Thralls are food, but they still have to serve their purposes. They rarely get to develop to be any sort of super star. Every Thrall: every single one of them can be bitten at any time. It doesn't make a lot of sense to make a large investment in a player who can be hurt or killed by their own team on any given turn. Good coaches understand this idea. the Giant Leeches are no exception.

This is another enviable position to be in. It's easy to just say "we'll draft whatever Vampire that's there, and work with him". It's also fairly easy to draft a Thrall in this position. Why you ask?

As previously stated, Vampires skill very quickly. Thralls do not. Here's the catch. If you were really trying to play the metagame, you would be looking to draft a Thrall that had some utility, but NOT TOO MUCH. Remember, he has to be food. A 2 to 3-skill Thrall would be an ideal fit for a Vampire squad.

So, we're somewhat in the "best player available" range for New York. Vampires qualify in both the Skilled and Strength categories. Scanning through the available lists, we come up with our best option: Chirashi Zushi out of Nippon University. He would come with Block and Mighty Blow on board. He'd be nice on the offensive side of the ball for New York. Zushi would be a nice addition to the club.

Let's now look through the Linemen section for a Thrall. Again, the Giant Leeches are looking for someone with some utility, but not overly useful. They already have both a Kicker and a Dirty Player on the payroll. Their remaining players all have Wrestle. Ideally, New York is looking for a player that has either Guard or Tackle, to add a bit more utility to the squad. The_Provocateur looks down the available players, and selects Kurz John out of Oregon University. He'll come out of college with Wrestle and Tackle on board. Not only do they get the utility we were seeking in either a Guard or a Tackler, but New York gets a player that fits the general game plan by having Wrestle. It is a very advantageous draft choice for the Giant Leeches. His set of skills at a Thrall position offers more improvement for the here and now than a non-Blodge Vampire does.

It may not be the obvious pick to make, but New York proves once again that they know what they're doing by picking up a 2-skill Thrall. It's a top-notch choice.

CHEFCTER: Stick around folks. We're through the Wild Card Round losers from last year's playoffs. In our next segment, we will be dissecting picks 25 and 26, which were losers from last season's Divisional Round.

WIPER JR: It's going back and forth from now on, with one team from the AFC and one from the NFC for the rest of the way.

CHEFCTER: We're closing in on last year's Super Bowl champions, folks. Stick around!

CHEFCTER: And, we're back sports fans! Once again, you're tuned into the Season 14 edition of the NBFL Draft Review and Analysis Show. I'm your co-host Stabbem Chefcter. As always, I'm joined by NBFL enthusiast , Mr. Kill Wiper Jr.

WIPER JR: A pleasure, Stabby. We're doing what we were born to do...

CHEFCTER: Couldn't agree with you more, Killy. It's thrilling getting to dissect the teams we all know and love. I'm just sorry that there's only one round that we ever get to talk about... Speaking of talking about teams, our next squad was last season's AFC North Champion, and the number 2 seed in the Playoffs. They were eliminated in the Divisional Round, losing to a fellow Dark Elf squad that was on a mission. There's no doubt though that these guys will be back to the Playoffs to drop some serious WMD's on the AFC...

25. CLEAVE LAND

Race: Dark Elf
Player Selected: Chirashi Zushi (Nippon University)
Skills: Block*, Mighty Blow - 25 points*
Position: Blitzer

NOTE: Zushi came out of college with Block, so the player was reduced from 25 to 6 points.

Grade of Pick: B:

CHEFCTER: The AFC North is a bloodbath of bashy goodness. It takes a solid team, and great coaching to stay alive in the Division, let alone the Playoffs. It is a testament to Coach BillBrasky that the speedy, graceful squad of the bunch qualified for the post-season. There's one thing they tend to do better than the other teams in the Divison; score. They have nearly a 3-1 touchdown ratio over their opponents, though these numbers are slighty skewed, due to training exercises in the off-season that count toward the team's total.

Cleave Land ended their season with 12 players on the squad, so let's analyze who is left, and determine where we can best add improvement to an already well-rounded team.

BLITZER: Maybe. Dark Elves are allowed to employ 4. The Dawg Pound is currently one short. It's certainly possible to improve in this area, as Blitzers are the life blood of the squad.

RUNNER: Possible, but less likely. Cleave Land is permitted to employ two on their roster, but the chances of both playing at the same time are small. That being the case, to draft a player here would be merely drafting for depth. There is improvement that can be added here, but it is not nearly as significant as adding to other parts of the roster.

WITCH ELF: Not really, no. There are already the allotment of two on the squad, one of which being the rather docile Miles. This really isn't the place to seek significant improvement.

LINEMAN: Yes. It is extremely rare that any form of Elven team couldn't further its development with a solid Lineman. There is certain to be some good improvement that can be made here.

ASSASSIN: It does not appear that Coach BillBrasky employs them.

So, we seem to be close to a "best player available" scenario for the Dawg Pound. I would, in all likelihood, search for a Lineman first, and then a Blitzer, so let's begin that way.

Looking through the Lineman category, we see a few different candidates that could suit the needs of the Dawg Pound, but nobody that really is a "great" fit for the squad. There are "nice" players there, but it's only moderate assistance that gets added to the club. Let's also take a look at the Blitzer section to see what's out there, and we can compare the best of the categories.

For Cleave Land, drafting this late is both a blessing and a curse. They don't really NEED a lot, but being this far down, anything that is "really good" or even "pretty good" has already been drafted. The front office assesses the players that are available, and select Chirashi Zushi, a Blitzer out of Nippon University. He comes out of college with a double on board already (Mighty Blow), which will at least help out with the bashy conditions of the AFC North. He'll have his points reduced out of college, but this IS a decent pick. Blitzers skill rather quickly. Having Mighty Blow will allow him to skill even faster, bringing him into other skills needed for the position.

Unfortunately, by being as good as they are and were last year, Cleave Land gets squeezed out of any kind of an A-grade pick this season. It's not their fault, but our system does not have a way yet to calculate that into the equation for grading. It's still a good player.

WIPER JR: Our next squad folks was the Champion of the NFC East, our League's most contested division last season. The four teams found here are incredibly diverse. These guys are a bunch of manly Nordic men who throw the idea of bulky armor aside for speed, strength and gratuitous faceraping.

26. PHILHALA

Race; Norsemen
Player Selected: Darkball Johnson (Texas S&M)
Skills: Guard, Dodge - 16 points
Position: Runner

Grade of Pick: A+

WIPER JR: Philhala has become synonymous with Playoffs. The folks in Philly finally have a franchise to hang their hat on and get behind, having been a while since seeing the success of the old Philadelphia Faeries, or even the Philadelphia Raptors. The current boys REALLY know how to ball. They bring their ferocious offense right at the heart of your squad, hoping to rip it out of your chest while still beating. Their defense is just as unforgiving. These guys only have one thing in mind: WINNING.

Coach Relezite has already led these boys to an NBFL Championship in Season 11. He is, in all honesty, in the discussion for the best coaches in the NBFL. They get injured often. They break down physically while breaking YOU down physically and yet, there they are EVERY season come Playoff time. That's a testament to good coaching.

Since we've already told you that they do suffer from a lot of injuries, let's see where they can add to their roster.

SNOW TROLL: Definitely not. With Thorlakr Thorgeirson on the squad, there's no way you'll find a better Big Guy available in the draft this late. He's stellar. No improvement would come here.

THROWER: Nope. Philhala currently has a beauty employed in the likes of Cucaracha Petterflet. There won't be any improvement coming via the draft. He's that good.

RUNNER: Maybe, but it's for depth. Philhala currently employs Sveinn Ypperson. He is an excellent player, despite being a bit slower in his age. If the Arni were to draft here, it would be purely to add depth to the squad. It would be welcome, but not as useful as adding a starter.

BERSERKER: I wouldn't think so, no. Philhala currently employs 2. They have their elder statesman in the person of Bjalfi Bjornolfson, an excellent 1-2 punch when combined with Thorlakr Thorgeirson. Their other player is still young, but has already proven he can "monger the stats" early on. There would be only a small chance of offering improvement here.

ULFWERENER: Slightly possible, but highly unlikely. These two men provide much of the support for the squad, providing the Guard for the team. They are both good 2-skill players who will only improve. There's little chance of improving through the draft here.

LINEMAN: Yes. At the end of the season, there were 6 on the squad, 2 of which were rookies. Granted, two of them are just absolute studs in the likes of Friggir Ulfrson and Chris Harison, but some depth would definitely be welcome to the squad. This is a good place to look if there's a good player available.

Breaking it down as we like to do, it would see that our first need would be a good Lineman. After that, it's really about the best player available for the squad. As we look through the draftees, there really isn't a good candidate that fits the position. The skills that are available have already been developed by the players currently employed. The front office recognizes this, and looks deeper into the draft.

Thumbing through the Skilled/Blitzer section, Philhala discovers a very useful player for the team in the person of Darkball Johnson. Qualifying as a Runner, he would come with Dodge and Guard on board, which adds to the supporting side of the squad.

It's a GREAT selection. Why? Remember, they already have a very qualified Runner to be on the offensive side of the ball, but they're only drafting for depth here. Johnson can add a bit of extra support on the defensive side of the ball; he could fill in on an injury replacement basis. It doesn't absolute destroy you to leave him sitting on the bench either. His utility really allows you to tailor your current game plan much more fluidly. That flexibility he offers easily makes this grade an A+. A great pick by the folks of the Arni.

CHEFCTER: Folks, 26 down, only 6 to go! We're nearly through to the Super Bowl teams of last season. Stay tuned! In our next segment, we're talking about 2 more Division Champions from last season.

WIPER JR: That's right, Stabby. We've got the champions from both the NFC and AFC South divisions, both of which are dynamic, yet very different in their approach. I'm looking forward to getting into their analysis.

CHEFCTER: You and me both, Killy. We also have some late Expansion picks to address, which occur after the Super Bowl teams. Rest assured, we'll be diving into them as well. Stay tuned, sports fans. We'll be back shortly!

CHEFCTER: Welcome back to you, sports fans. You're watching the NBFL Draft Review and Analysis Show. Stabbem Chefcter here alongside fellow NBFL enthusiast and extraordinary soprano sax player, Mr. Kill Wiper Jr.

WIPER JR: It's important to be well-rounded and cultured in today's society, Stabby.

CHEFCTER: How long have you been playing the sax, Killy?

WIPER JR: I was 4-1/2 when I picked up my first instrument. I can play 7 different instruments, and I sing.

CHEFCTER: Wow. The things you learn in the course of the NBFL season.... incredible. You're quite the talent, sir. And speaking of which, let's talk about a group of talented individuals from the NFC South. These guys, though it hasn't been proven yet, may have the ability to score a TD, and somehow score another TD before the next kickoff takes place.... that's how fast they are.

27. CAROLINA

Race: Elf
Player Selected: Farmer Dan (HSU)
Skills: Block, Dodge, Fend - 37 points
Position: Lineman

Grade of Pick: A

To win in Blood Bowl, you have to score TDs. Carolina obviously is quite adept at putting the ball in the end zone, as they are 30 games over .500. They average just under 2 TDs a match, while giving up just over 1. These guys are SO good. Their players all are so well-rounded, going well above and beyond what is asked of them by Coach Jeffro. He seems to get 150% effort from his entire squad, making him a perennial Playoff threat.

Unfortunately, just like all their Elven counterparts of various races, they tend to suffer from the same hampering set-back; injuries. They ended last season with a loss in the Divisional round to a Detroilet team that was simply on a mission. They are hell-bent though on returning to the #1 seed in the NFC.

Let's look at their 14-man roster that they ended last season with, and see where we can put some improvement into the team.

BLITZER: No. Carolina has two beauties on their current roster. There wouldn't be any improvement that would be available this late in the draft.

THROWER: No. They still have their dynamic player Joshua Cribbs on the squad, who can get the ball anywhere on the pitch on a 3+. That's a heck of a weapon to have in your arsenal. You wouldn't find much improvement here in the draft.

CATCHER: No. There are 4 already on the roster. 3 of them are old-term veterans, while the 4th is an up-and-coming player. It might be possible to find a slight improvement for a 4th Catcher, but there may be more improvement value found at another position.

LINEMAN: Yes. There are 7 on the squad. Only Heather Graham Gano has developed to be a 3-skill player so far. 2 of them are total Rookies, 2 of them have one skill each, and 2 have 2 skills. Some depth here would do well for the squad.

The best place to look would obviously be a Lineman. We're looking for either something supporting or more of a roadblocking type of stopper. Either way, the player Carolina would benefit the most from is someone more defensive-minded. They also appear to be in need of a Kicker. We begin looking through the Lineman section of the draft pool.

After analyzing the options, we come up with two possibilities:

Farmer Dan: Block, Dodge, Fend - 37 points
Nip Slipper: Block, Tackle, Kick - 31 points

If you look through the roster, it appears that the best option for the defensive scheme that the Party runs would be Farmer Dan. The defense needs to pester and annoy the opponent enough to slow the drive until the Blitzers can work their way into the ball carrier's face. In that way, Dan seems to make more sense than drafting a Kicker. There's really nothing sexy about drafting to bolster the core of the squad, but there's always validity in it.

Carolina was last season's number 1 seed in the NFC Playoff bracket. We see a lot of potential for them to repeat the feat this year, but as usual, they'll have to overcome a lot of teams, injuries, and obstacles to return to the top. There's no doubt that they're capable of doing it, but how? Well, to answer this question, we turn to the head coach of the Black Panther Party, coach Jeffro. Coach, welcome to the show. Pleasure having you on.

JEFFRO: Thank you for having me. Big fan of yours, Chefcter. Not so much the Wiper, here... but you can't always pick who you work with, can you...

CHEFCTER: Coach, we've spent a bit of time discussing our optimism for your boys to return to the #1 seed this year. Talk to us a bit about what it took to get there, as well as how you hope to return there this coming season.

JEFFRO: The parity in the NBFL is really amazing, and so you hate to say it but a lot of it comes down to injuries on the team. Healthy teams make it far, and key injuries at the wrong time can derail a season. So it's really about how many dead skunk vaginas you can scrape off the road and give to Nuffle so he can fellate them, you know what I'm sayin?! Wiper doesn't... Lookit his dumb stare. Whatevs. But you gotta have a deep squad and stay healthy. Great question, Chef.

CHEFCTER: Talk to us about Pro Elves. What is it about them that makes them so successful? What advantages do you feel they offer you?

JEFFRO: Pros can ball. The game ain't won by how much you beat up the other team. It's about getting the ball in the end zone by whatever means necessary. The BPP is all about seizing those scoring opportunities. Excellent query, Chef.

WIPER JR: Coach, Kill Wiper Jr. here. First of all, congratulations on a great season last year. Can you talk to us about the role your Lineman play on the squad? You currently don't employ a Kicker, but does Carolina have a place for one? What is it that you seek in developing a Lineman?

JEFFRO: Every time I think you can't be more ignorant, Wiper... you prove me wrong. We have one of the best Kickers in the NBFL!!! CAM NEWTON! Are you trying to be an idiot, or is it just so natural that by your very idiotic nature you make it appear more awkward than it is?!?? Geez you're dumb. Your mother must be constantly disappointed if she hasn't killed herself by now. Can he just leave, Cheffy?! Thanks.

CHEFCTER: It's prediction time, Coach. Give us an idea of what Season 14 holds in store for Carolina.

JEFFRO: I love predictions. Thanks for bringing this show some class, Chef. I predict a perfect regular season for the Carolina Black Panther Party. Followed by a small and unsuccessful strike by the rest of the league over how awesome we are. Then we'll win the Super Bowl, we'll go to Disneyland, and Wiper's mom will shoot herself to put herself out of her misery.

CHEFCTER: Coach Jeffro of the Carolina Black Panther Party. Thank you so much sir for stopping by the show.

WIPER JR: I gotta tell you, Stabby. Sometimes, I really miss coaching. This guy does things the right way, despite his inherent disdain for me.

CHEFCTER: I'm inclined to agree, Killy. A team doesn't have the success that Carolina has enjoyed for all these years without having some great leadership, both on and off the pitch. I can't help but wonder though, Killy. What has he got against you?

WIPER JR: There was an evening party after Super Bowl II, when Buffalo defeated Atlatl. He was just finishing up in the Men's Room, and was reaching for the door handle just as I was trying to enter. His hand reached for the door knob. He grabbed a knob, but it wasn't the knob he was reaching for.

CHEFCTER: So, He touched your peepee is what it comes down to?

WIPER JR: Pretty much. I guess he wasn't terribly fond of what he got his hands into.

CHEFCTER: That's too bad, Killy. He's a pretty good coach. Final thoughts?

WIPER JR: On Carolina or my peepee, Stabby?

CHEFCTER: Carolina, Killy.

WIPER JR: Not every NBFL fans thinks as much about it, but schemes, pre-game planning, and well-trained players will allow a coach to get the most out of his players. Carolina is an excellent example of that. So is our next squad.

This team was last season's Champions in the AFC South. They're an enormous, physical team that can do anything and everything that's required...

28. TENNESSEE

Race: Orc
Player Selected: Seiko Tsubara (Nippon University)
Skills: Block, Mighty Blow - 16 points
Position: Black Orc Blocker

Grade of Pick: A

Congratulations to the Titans on last season's Division Championship, and #1 seed in the AFC Playoffs. It was unfortunate timing that they ran into the utter buzz saw in New Tomb in the Divisional Round.

This is a burly, massive squad that imposes their will on the opponent, moving down the field in routine fashion. They have an incredibly strong Blitzer core. Their Big Guy is one of the best in the League. It's no wonder that these boys finished atop their division last season.

Injuries, however, have put quite a dent into the Titans. Let's see if there's any place we can add some improvement to these manly men.

TROLL: No. As we previously said, Michael von Bargen III may be the best Big Guy in the NBFL. There's no improvement coming here.

BLACK ORC BLOCKER: Yes. This is an area where the injuries have hurt the most. The Titans are allowed to employ 4, yet they currently have 3 (one of which is a Rookie). This is a good place to add some improvement.

THROWER: Probably not, no. Tennessee currently employs one in the likes of Jake Locker. It isn't terribly common these days for Orc squads to employ two Throwers. To draft a second player here would be strictly for depth, which isn't terrible, but not nearly as useful for the starting squad. If all other positions are accounted for, this could be a place to add depth.

BLITZER: No.These four boys work very well together. This isn't a place where much improvement would be able to be made at this point in the draft.

LINEMAN: Maybe, but it's not the most important. With 3 on the squad, it might be worth adding a 4th for depth. Two of them are geared toward being more defensive in nature. The 3rd can play either side of the ball, but he's still very young. Adding a 4th player here may ease the decision as to who to start on each side of the ball. Thankfully, this would only be if it was deemed to be a "best player available" situation.

GOBLIN: Probably not. Tennessee currently has a very good player here in Brian Coulter. He may be lacking in upper body strength, but he has a pretty defined role on the squad. He doesn't get to play all that much, but in certain situations, only he has what it takes to get the job done. Adding a 2nd player here does add some depth, but the contribution would be minimal, as you rarely see two Goblins on the pitch together for an Orc squad.

It's very obvious that the player the Titans need the most would be a Black Orc Blocker. They qualify in the Strength category, so the front office begins their assessment of the draft class.

The section in question was very shallow this year, with only 5 candidates declaring for the draft. 3 of which have already been drafted. Both remaining candidates are more than qualified for the job, but Coach Arktoris makes the decision to select Seiko Tsubara out of Nippon University. He comes with Block and Mighty Blow on board, giving him an advantage to grow quickly. He will fit the bill easily for the 4th Black Orc Blocker very nicely. This is a very good selction.

CHEFCTER: Folks, only 4 teams remain to make their draft selection, as well as a short compensatory round of picks. We're ever so close, folks! Don't change that channel now! Next segment brings the Conference Championship losers from last season. Stick around!

Awesome momentum this deep into the draft. If Miami make anything of itself, head coach bully can handle an interview next draft season.
