Right, so there is David Carnage, and then there is literally no one else even close to David Carnage.

Sure, you can look for a few other names that show up on more than a couple lists, but David Carnage has broken the records with 9 blocking scoring results in 7 matches.

Not sure how that's even possible frankly, but numbers don't lie Smile

Game recap:

The bludgeoners win the toss and elect to receive. A High Kick allows them to get under the ball, and they manage to remove 2 thralls from the game. It seems we'll see them later playing for the Bludgeoners. 2 turns later and the Bludgeoners hurt another player and knock one out. Even with the hits, you can tell the Bludgeoners are being careful. Against Vampires with a Wizard there's no such thing as too careful. The vampires, on the other hand, are aiming for Dre Kirkpatrick, the only tackler on the Nurgle team since Andrew Whitewall is out for a broken ankle. The Bludgeoners KO another vampire before scoring in last turn of the first half. The Vampires are unable to use their single turn to tie it up.

Starting the second half, two vampires are still out from their knockouts. This leaves them with very little talent on the field. The bludgeoners take this opportunity to set up a 5-man front line, and kick close on the opposite side of the field from the lopsided setup of the vampires. That's no matter as the vampires are still able to move the ball to the other side of the field. The Bludgeoners mark nearly every player, and they're unable to move down the field. Another vampire goes out with an injury, and there's only one left. That one is running down the other side of the field, though, with nobody near. He manages to make it, leaving the Bludgeoners 4 turns to tie it up.

One vampire wakes back up, which leaves them with only 9 players on the field, 2 of which are vampires. The kick is deep, making it hard for the Bludgeoners to move it down the field. The vampires attempt to take out the 2 pests in the backfield with their wizard, but their attempt yields nothing. The Bludgeoners send a rotter downfield, attempting a pass with Barry "Summerfest" Leegle, but he trips and hurts himself. Lucky for the Bludgeoners, he regenerates in order to possibly see play again. This leaves only nurgle warriors in range to get the ball to Emmy Lamer. Devon Still manages to pick up the ball, but also trips trying to get in range for the handoff. Emmy Lamer still manages to catch the bouncing ball, but unfortunately he has no chance to make it to the endzone before time runs out.

The Vampires win the toss in overtime and elect to receive. Unfortunately for them, even with a 16-man bench, the Bludgeoners have been bludgeoning them and they can only field 6. Neither team has any rerolls left after the second half. The Bludgeoners take this advantage and set up a 5-man spread line. The ball is kicked right to a thrall near the front, but after their Perfect Defense, he has no chance to catch it, and without a reroll, he drops it trying to pick it up. From there, the Bludgeoners swarm the ball and the Vampires have no chance to surivve make their time.

While running off the field, we were able to catch Barry Leegle and ask him "You just won the Superbowl, what are you going to do now?" His response was "I'm goin to Hardee's!"

During the press conference after the game, this is what coach Sutherlands had to say:

We lost a few games during the regular season that I feel we shouldn't have. Some of the players made a few rookie mistakes. So we trained. We trained every day. And it showed in the playoffs. We have a very strength-based approach, and look to go hands on with our opponents. Due to this daily training that I instituted, we played very well during the playoffs. We were making hits and getting a man advantage. Some other coaches have pointed to the fact that some of those players got removed well after they went down to say that we were fouling. They've been calling it skull-deflate-gate. I'd like to go on the record and say that these accusations are completely false. We play perfectly fair and some players just can't take a hit.

We played some good coaches in the playoffs, and some even better teams. All the games were close, but I must say that the best team prevailed. We look forward to the next season, where we hope to repeat the performance.

College GamePlay: NBFL Draft Preview
Built by the Gnome Depot

Chris Fouler: Greetings NBFL fans! Chris Fouler here, with a special edition of our College GamePlay show. Normally we do our segments about the National College Blood Bowl league, or NCBB for short, but with a large number of former college stars about to be drafted, our sponsor thought it would be a great opportunity to preview the potential picks. So let me introduce my partners, former California standout and NBFL draftee Anthony Killer and former N.C. State thrower Tyler Brosius. Welcome, fellas.

Anthony Killer: It'sss a pleasure to be here.

Tyler Brosius: Likewise; I can't wait to see how this draft plays out guys.

Fouler: Most of the fans can't either, which is why we are here to give them some insight into the teams and players. This year the Chicago Bear-ds have the responsibility of the number one overall pick after a disastrous campaign last season. Looking at the roster guys, they actually don't have a terrible team; there's some talent there and decent support players. So, how did they "earn" the worst record in the league?

Brosius: Because they sucked.

Fouler: Great insight, Brosius. While your point was not subtle, I suppose it wasn't inaccurate. Just looking at the second half of their season, Chicago had a terrible 1-2-3 record, capped off by a 5-0 beatdown at the hands of the eventual NFC Champion Leeches. That's not how you want to end your season, guys.

Killer: It sssure isn't, Chrisss. The Bear'dsss had a net casualty ssscore of +9, ssso they did alright in that department. I'm sssure management would like to increase that number though, because removal isss one way to lead to easier sssscoresss.

Brosius: And scoring was certainly not one of their strong suits last year, with only five goals in their final six games. A net score of -7 is certainly not a formula for winning football, am I right?

Fouler: Right you are, Brosius. As with any NBFL draft, around this time of year you will hear the phrases "best availabile player" and "biggest need" tossed around a lot. Some of the talk will just be a cover to make your decision look good, but certainly it is a real aspect of the draft process. So Brosius, tell us a pro and con of taking the "best available player".

Brosius: The obvious advantage is that you add a talented player to your team. Coaching and luck play a huge part in this sport, but sometimes the difference between a playoff heartbreak and a championship run is simply having a better player than the other guy. However if a team always takes talented players, they may be overlapping in skills or play the same position, leaving them lacking in various areas that can be exploited.

Fouler: Anthony, what about filling a need? How can that play out?

Killer: A well-rounded team in the NBFL isss a team that can deal with any kind of opponent and any kind of situation they might find themselvesss in. Perhapsss one week you'll need to win a 4-3 ssshootout and the next you'll have to grind through a 1-0 ssslugfest. Thusss if you make sssure you fill your team'sss needsss, you can be equip for any ssscenario. However Brosiusss is correct in that sssometimesss talent isss the great equalizer in thisss league; you can have the perfect play drawn up but sssometimesss the elf will ssstill ssslip through your fingersss.

Brosius: Is that a flashback to when you played against Oregon in your college days?

Killer: Actually it'sss a reference to your mom.

Brosius: Oooh, burn. *rolls eyes*

Fouler: Anyways, let's take a look at both philosophies and identify who Chicago might take with the first overall pick. If we were looking at the "best player available" strategy, who would be our pick?

Killer: I believe Xzavier Dickson from Alabama [Blitzer 91 spp MB, PO, +AG, Tackle, +AG] isss the best player in this draft classs. He'sss sssupremely athletic, and yet he hitsss harder than almost anyone available. If you draft Dickson, you get an impact defensive sssafety for yearsss to come.

Brosius: Being a great thrower, I would love it when management tried to add weapons around me. That's why Chicago should take the best offensive player in the draft in David Chow of Missouri [Skilled 71 spp +AG, +AG, Block, Dodge]; that kid will put fans in the seats and points on the board.

Fouler: Those are some awesome players to be sure. But would they fit what the Bear-ds need the most?

Brosius: Considering that their offense was poor last season, yes, I'd recommend taking Chow as a runner to form a dynamic one-two punch with incumbent Gokiburi Amichia[SFL], who was the #2 overall pick last year.

Killer: Well if you wanted to add sssome punch to the team without taking away a current player, you could be sssneaky and ssselect Wilma Wildpuss of Arizona [Skill / Blitz 60 spp JU, MB, +ST, PO] as a blocker. The rulesss ssstate that dwarven blockersss fall under the blitzer category for draft purposesss, ssso you could ssselect Wilma and have a fierce blocker to add to your removal capabilitiesss.

Fouler: That would be a darkhourse selection for sure, Anthony. Well folks, that's all the time we have for today. Be sure to join us next time as we preview more of the NBFL draft. Until next time, enjoy the selections!

First off, what position on your team is he? It looks like he'll be replacing a runner or blitzer but you need to specify.

Secondly, there's a specific PM thread for the draft selections, it's probably a little ways down in your inbox

After defeating the NBFL Suicide Builder Squad in 3 straight games, the Cincinnati Bludgeoners take a break to prepare for kickoff. This is historic for the Bludgeoners, not because they won the Championship last season, but because they begin this season the strongest they've ever been, spending 2,420,000 gold for the talent on the team.
