The OWCC-season just kicked off and the Lumberjacks are back! And they're bringing home a (lucky) 2-1 against the BBoDT. Very Happy

What a great start to the season between two heavyweights of the OWCC. That's Athel Loren's first league defeat since Season VIII - they've gone unbeaten for the last two seasons.

Ok, so 4 games into their first season in Albion it seems that this is a little to big for the Raiders.
2 draws and 2 defeats is all that was possible until now. Now they have to win the last game to avoid the drop.
This might be because they do have the arguably most useless player in the league: https://fumbbl.com/p/player?player_id=10500781
Georg Kreissler has played 20 games for the Raiders without collecting a single SPP. He missed the last match but was not really missed as the rest of the team played "well" up to his standards.

It's the time of the OWCC season when Conferences begin to enter the final round, and we look ahead to what everyone wants to happen in their last league match, and we start this season (as always) with the Kislev Conference, who are the first to enter the fifth and final round.

Here is a rundown of what each team is facing. Remember: the top two teams get promoted automatically (and the winner of the conference gets to decide which of Albion or Bretonnia they enter next season), while 3rd and 4th enter the promotion playoffs.

Kislev Conference

The Malice of Karond Kar are sitting at the top of the table, and are guaranteed automatic promotion this season, after four solid wins. It would take a miracle for them not to win the league, but just to be sure, they need a draw from their final game to make it certain. Anything but a massive loss (combined with a massive win for the Renegades) would see them finish as champions.

Next up are the Grimjuice Renegades, who look in good shape for promotion. A win for them guarantees automatic promotion (and they can even win the conference if they earn a massive victory, as discussed above), while a draw combined with a win or a draw for the Malice would also be enough. If they were to lose, they would probably drop out of the top 2 on tie-breaker points, and it is possible that they could also drop out of the playoff places (as long as the Exiles and the Gladiators also win).

The Clar Karond Exiles are currently in 3rd, and face the champions-elect in their final game. Nothing is guaranteed for them! To sneak into the automatic promotion spots, they need to win (or draw, potentially) their final game, and hope the Renegades lose (or draw, but take a hit on their tie-breaker score - in which case, the Exiles would need to win). A loss, combined with wins (or even draws, if tie-breaker points are improved enough) by the Carnival and the Gladiators, could see them drop to 5th, and out of the playoffs.

Quenelles Carnival and the Greenleaf Gladiators are both sitting on 4 points at the moment, while the Carnival have the benefit of a marginally better tie-breaker position. Quenelles can sneak into the automatic promotion spots if they beat the Renegades solidly, and hope that the Exiles lose to Karond Kar. It is harder for the Gladiators: they need to win (by a decent margin), hope that Quenelles win by less, and that the Exiles lose. The Gladiators can steal the final playoff spot from the Carnival by bettering their result in the final game. A loss would not be enough for them, and a loss would leave Quenelles vulnerable to losing their playoff spot.

The first team on the outside looking in are the Sabre Mountain Titans, who will be playing their old rivals the Green Tide (again! We might have to do something about that before next season...). Firstly, they need to win - nothing less will do. Then, they need both the Carnival and the Gladiators to lose. In that scenario, it is likely that they would be in the playoffs, as their tie-breaker should be higher than the other two - but they need to be careful that the Screaming Bell don't overtake them too!

Speaking of the Eight Peaks Screaming Bell, they are in a similar position to the Titans. They have to beat the Gladiators first, and hope that the Carnival also lose. Ideally, they'd want the Titans to lose or draw, but even if they win, they can get into the playoffs if their tie-breaker score is good enough.

And finally, there is the Green Tide Yoof Section, who can't make it into the playoffs, but can frustrate their old rivals, the Titans, by beating them or holding them to a draw.

Best of luck to all the teams in the final round! But remember, if there are teams dropping out further up the league, more teams might be promoted than predicted, so it is always worth getting a win in your final game!

(And also, remember that the tie-breaker scores displayed are not quite right, as the casualty differences should be halved)

It should be noted that in 4 meetings, the Titans have never beaten the Yoof Sekshun! So I figure the time isn't qutie right for progression this season, just consolidation. Smile The Ogres are making leaps and bounds in their skills though, and hope to be a force next time, depending on the preseason results!

Well, it seems the transfer to Kislev indeed was shortlived. But the guaranteed promotion doesn't mean the Malice will take it easy in their last match of the season. Not even for their brethren will they hold back....

The next Conference to finish is Bretonnia. Here's what to look out for in the final round in a division where very little is certain.

Bretonnia Conference

We start with a top of the table clash between the Nilfheim Lumberjacks and the Elves of Albion, who are both on 6 points. The Lumberjacks have a better tie-breaker score (+1 compared to -3), so they go into this game with the advantage. If either of these two teams win this game, they win the Conference - it is that simple. A draw could be enough for the Lumberjacks, but they rely on the teams below them slipping up (they'd need the Doom Bringers and the Scavengers to draw or lose their games). A win for either team would also guarantee a place in the Challenge Cup. A draw would be enough for whichever team ended up with a better tie-breaker score (probably the Lumberjacks), but the other team would have to hope that the Doom Bringers and the Scavengers don't both win their games. If either team loses, they are in a tight spot - they could easily be overtaken by two or three lower teams to drop out of the Cup places.

The next pair are the Zhaar Doom Bringers and the Serpents Coast Scavengers, who are both on 5 points and with equal tie-breaker scores (+7), but the Doom Bringers just edge it on "CAS+". These two aren't playing each other, but their fates are linked. They can both win the Conference title, if they win their final game by more than the other, and hope the Lumberjacks - Elves game ends in a draw. Although they can both make it into the Challenge Cup, they both essentially need to do better than the other: a win or a draw in their final game, while bettering the result in the other's game, would put them into the Challenge Cup. A loss would probably not be good enough; although it might work out if both teams lose, as long as the tie-breaker scores go their way.

Next we have a pair of teams on 4 points: Turov's Infected (+2 tie-breaker) and the Arkhan Faraohs (-2.5 tie-breaker). Neither team can win the Conference, but they can make it into the Challenge Cup. Turov's Infected have to win their game, and then hope that either the Scavengers lose theirs (or draw, but they'd need to take a serious hit to their tie-breaker score), or that the Elves of Albion lose. The Arkhan Faraohs also need to win, but they also need the Infected to win but to overtake them on the tie-breaker score, as well as everything else the Infected need. Not an easy task. The Faraohs are also the first team to look downwards - they can fall into the relegation playoffs if they lose their game, the Dogz win, and either the Magpies or LUU win (and end up with a higher tie-breaker score than them, which they probably would).

We then have two teams on 3 points: the Scalded Delta Dogz (-1) and the Athel Loren BBoDT (-2.5). Neither team can make it into the Challenge Cup this season, but they both need good results from their final game to avoid the threat of relegation. For both teams, a win keeps them safe. If they draw, they could fall into the relegation playoffs if either the Magpies or LUU win (i.e. don't draw), and their tie-breaker score is the worst of the three teams - so BBoDT have more to fear from this than the Dogz. A loss would make that even more likely, and it also would open up the possibility that they could finish last and be automatically relegated, if the Magpies and Lahmia drew their final game and both ended up with a higher tie-breaker score. Tight stuff!

Finally, we've got the two teams in the relegation spots: Lahmia Undead United (technically in the playoff spot due to the false tie-breakers being shown on the league page), and the Marienburg Magpies, in automatic relegation. A win would save either team from automatic relegation, but not necessarily from the relegation play-offs - they'd also need one of the teams above them to slip up to escape the play-offs (not massively unlikely, so there's hope yet). A draw would mean tie-breaker scores were important, so the Magpies would be in the worst spot, but both teams could escape with a draw if the Dogz and BBoDT both lose their games, and their tie-breakers were bad enough. A loss for either team means automatic relegation.

Good luck to everyone in their final round!

The final Conference to enter the last round is Albion. Here's their summary!

Albion Conference

Going into the final round, the Doom Glades Rangers are top of the table, and guaranteed a place in the Challenge Cup. They can win the league if they match Diadochi's result, since their tie-breaker score is so much better, meaning that a win would practically guarantee it, and a draw might be enough. A loss would see them slip out of the top spot.

Just behind them are Palinam Diadochi, who are also guaranteed a place in the Challenge Cup this season. They can still win the Conference, but it is out of their hands somewhat: they need to win, and hope the Rangers draw or lose (unless they can seriously improve their tie-breaker score).

The final team that can win the Conference are Castle Drachenfels. They need to win their match against the Rangers, and hope Diadochi fail to win theirs. Due to their superior tie-breaker score, a Diadochi draw would probably be fine. A draw in their own game against the Rangers is enough to clinch the final Challenge Cup spot, while a loss might also be enough if other results go their way (they need Frostheim United and the Orgrimmar Hammers to both not win - or to win, but to fail to make up the tie-breaker difference).

Both Frostheim United and the Orgrimmar Hammers have a shot at the 3rd spot in the Challenge Cup, but they'll both need a number of things to work in their favour. Firstly, they have to win, and they need Drachenfels to lose. Then they have to hope they have the best tie-breaker score out of the teams on 6 points. Frostheim are best placed here - the Hammers would need a big win to make up any difference. Both teams are safe from relegation this season.

The opponents for the Hammers are the Diseased Wasters. They can't get into the Cup, but they might slip into the bottom two if they aren't careful. A draw would be enough to keep them safe. A big loss, combined with a Vagabonds-Kriegfeld draw (or a Kriegfeld win), might see them fall to 9th and into the playoffs. If the bottom two teams draw as well, then they could even finish last, but they'd need a big swing in the tie-breaker positions for either to happen.

The Wasteland Vagabonds are in a similar position: a draw keeps them safe. However, if they were to lose their final game, and the game between the Swamp-Risers and the Raiders didn't finish with a draw, then they would drop into the relegation playoff spot. If the bottom two drew, then they could even fall to 10th and automatic relegation, although their tie-breaker score makes this unlikely.

Their opponents, the Remnants of Kriegfeld are in an even more precarious position, as one of three teams on 2 points (their tie-breaker score is -4.5). There is no result that guarantees total safety, but a win would mean that they couldn't finish last. A loss, combined with a draw in the match between the bottom two (or even a victory for one team, and the right tie-breaker swing), would mean Kriegfeld would finish last, and be automatically relegated. Most results in between would see them finish either 8th or 9th, depending on tie-breaker scores.

The bottom two teams, also on 2 points each, are the Doom Glade Swamp-Risers (with a tie-breaker score of -5) and the Western Oblast Raiders Emsk (with a tie-breaker score of -6). Like Kriegfeld, a win for either team means they won't finish last (but could still end up in the relegation playoffs). A draw would benefit the Swamp-Risers if they can maintain their superior tie-breaker score, while a loss for either team would probably mean 10th place.

Good luck!
