The Order of the Snow King 2-1 Nidhoggstad Firedrakes

The second match of the second season saw The Order hoping to build upon their 100% record in the Frozen Sea Conference against a collection of High Elves luxuriating under the name of the Nidhoggstad Firedrakes. The Firedrakes had recently been awarded two coveted banners for their strong performances in the first season so The Order knew they would be up against it.

The elves sneakily kicked the ball high into the air hoping to impale someone at the opening whistle but it bounced safely off Balmung's head and the dwarves attempted to move upfield. A Firedrake appeared to have shuffled off his mortal coil, but the attending physician was able to revive him. However that was only the beginning of the blood-letting and three other elves quickly followed him off the field of play. The remaining seven elves put up a sterling defence and it was only by the Grace of Nuffle that The Order got the opening score.

The elves equalised easily after the break and the dwarves were left with five turns to try for a decisive score. The elven kicker again landed the spiked ball on a hobgob noggin and again it failed to penetrate. The trusty elven double line of defence looked like it was going to be just as hard to penetrate but eventually broke down after a few key snakes and Thorleif was able to cross for the winner.

Nuffle played a key role in both of The Order's scores and the elven jarl felt rightfully aggrieved. They were better coached, but came up Nuffled.

Another couple of dwarves skilled up and The Order marches on, now with twice as many victories as they managed in the whole of last season.

The Order of the Snow King 1-1 Kärsämäki Critters

The third match of the second season saw The Order looking to extend their two game winning streak against the Frozen Sea Conference's defending champions: a rotten group of nurglers known as the Kärsämäki Critters.
The Critters' 4/1/0 record was the best in the entire NSL last season and their defence was the stuff of legend.

The nurgs kicked the ball high into the air and when it came down it went straight through Balmung's head. After that the dice fell in favour of The Order and with a few timely surfs and stuns they made it to the end zone.
The moments either side of half-time were a turning point with the Critters fouling a serious injury, scoring a ko that didn't return and seeing another dwarf stoned off the pitch. Three men up an equaliser was practically assured.
Short-handed, as well as short-legged, the dwarves waited for the perfect moment and unleased their 12th man, Gandolf. His fireball knocked over three nurglers, including the ball carrier, but the Critters recovered quickly. The ball carrier was sacked again but the crowd played their part again, tossing the ball at the feet of the pestigor in scoring range. All that remained was for The Order to snake a few more rolls and the draw was in the books.

No skills, a MNG and a chance at a win gone begging. The Order need to regroup mentally and physically as they prepare for the last two conference games.

"Come here, Kharon."
"Yes, chief. First off, might I say that..."
"No. You may not say anything."
"Just that I..."
"You can't say anything that would not make you look less like a worm in my eyes. Got it? Still something to say?"
"..."
"Aye. Now listen. That game was a disaster in more than one way. You didn't win. You didn't even score. You didn't kill the troll. You didn't even get any orcs off the pitch. I hired you that wizard and you get nothing outta him. Fancy ka-boom, but then your lads trip over their own feet and orcs are up and at it again."
"..."
"Thought so. And then your fanciest prancing-dancing-lad throws his mate with the ball so hard that the poor sod mangles his hands and is off the pitch. Wanna guess how hard they laughed at that one? And it wasn't even the worst of it. You know what I hated the most?"
"The weather?"
"No. I hated you and your whining. I heard you across the field. Whining about luck, cursing Nuffle under your breath. You know why the orcs won?"
"Tell me, chief."
"They were the better team and they played better. That's what I want from you now on. Quit whining and start winning. You don't quit before the ref blow his whistle. And even after that you sneak in a foul. Hear me?"
"Aye, chief."
"Good. And I know the ogre is not technically a troll, but the standing order is still in effect."

We're nearing halfway through the leagueplay for season 2, and eventhough no team has 3 wins so far, it's starting to be clear who will advance to the finals.
This is my obligatory predictions for season 2 (based on RNG and a quick look at the current standings):

NSL Sea of Claws II:
arry's Skaven have a strong start with 2 wins, and the lack of fast players and tacklers in the remaining 3 opponents, will most likely grant him the first place.

NSL Sea of Chaos II:
radge's goblins had a nice season last time, but with only a draw and a win the two first games, and still remaining dwarves and a mighty blow heavy necro team, I predict he will not succeed this time. If chance be, I might stop him the next game against my underworld.
I'm predicting Nextflux' dwarves as the winners of this division. They have so far a 2/1/0 result, and their two last games are against underworld and goblins.

NSL Kraken Sea II:
Burnalot's orcs won last season, and they have had a successful start of this season with 2 wins. No team is even close, as all the other games in the division have been a draw so far. Burnalot will return to the finals. Who can stop him?

NSL Frozen Sea II:
The last division might be the hardest to predict. knightsweats have had a nice start, but they still have to play the current number 2 and 3 (norse and ogre), which both have not lost a game so far. I'm still putting my money on the chaos dwarves, as they seem to have the better development so far, with several guards.

No matter who wins, just remember the most important thing: dwarves are evil and must die.

Hi! Just wondering, would it be an idea to switch coaches around after a season? This would spread the "burden" of playing the weaker teams around, and give coaches a Challenge to play different teams over time. Also, I think it would be in line With the idea of all the teams having Chieftains that are constant and above the coaches. Not to say all the good fluff we could get from coaches being fired from their team and have to take over the halflings NeXT season even though they one the cup last season... Smile What do you say, oh high and mighty coaches of the NSL?

Two points.

First defeats the point of no retirements. The challenge is after 4-5 seasons most teams will have a team starting to build up skills alongside niggles and perms and bloated TV that brings.

Second makes investing time into the fluff of your team completely pointless, it would only make sense from a fluff perspective if you could transfer teams between coachs. Then one could create all the teams in the first season and use the same teams owned by said Chieftains. New teams every season really screws that up major time. With the current system a new team is really a new franchise owned by a new chieftain entering the league. And it's a much better league for doing that than most with fluff I have played. It's the first league where I have really been inspired to make a real effort with the fluff and team bio.

So for both those reasons it's I think a negative to the fluff and a negative to the rules for the league both the things that attracted me to the league. I would have no interest in playing a league like the one you are suggesting. I don't think there is any good fluff from grudges that can never be settled because of new teams all the time. Teams that never progress and develop a unique character though the legends that occur over time.

Finally if coaches want a different team they can retire their current team and join the queue for a new team to roll a different one. If you want that element of game play. Is it a burden? that's part of the contract when one signs up. One agrees to play whatever team one is given.

It would be a fundamentally different league, if you want to try and run such a league by all means go for it and I would hope it thrives. Every league that works is more activity to boost the site but I have no interest in playing such a ruleset for the reasons above.

Sea of Claws round 3.
Graennae Long-Tails 0 - 2 Vestligkyst Valkyries

A game that gave many laughs. The Skaven have shown their roots as farmers.

After putting up a semblance of defence, there came a moment when a Gutter Runner began a run-of-the-mill dodge to get an assist on a ball as a first action of a turn, and snaked into KO. After that, half the team was downed (the doctor has barely managed to stitch the ogre's smashed skull), and the ball was walked slowly into my end zone.

"Never to worry", the coach said. "I've trained a runner for a one-turn touchdown, let's see how sneaky he is!" Well, how sneaky can you be when a roaring crowd of fans knocks you down?

Then came a second half where as a good Skaven coach, I decided to farm some SPP by passing. Bad idea when your thrower has Shaky Paws. Amazons broke through the defence, surrounded the ball, and just when I needed to get the ball out of there, I decided to show some heroics, dodging a runner through one tackle zone. The 8/9 dodge roll went fine, but the second dodge - yep, snake into KO. Second touchdown for Valkyries.

Well, there are five turns left and with skaven, anything can happen! And it did happen: blitz!, lightning that stunned the lone carrier, interception, kill of a no-good blitzer. And another snake on a dodge when I tried a last-turn crazy pass.

It wasn't all one-sided, though. I got a Perfect Defense at the start, and the mighty-blow lineman got a skill when a girl both-downed him. A funny match all in all.

switch coaches? no way in hell.

I have HEs. Apparently they should be good. But they suck balls. Life is hard in Norsca.

Initially undefeated ogres seemed like a tough opponent, but they had lost one of their ogres in previous game and thus started with only 3. They gained a 110k worth of inducements and some bullying mercenaries took the money and hastily occupied some oversized team shirts.

Unpredicted rain made things different. Mage Priest Chichi was prepared and commanded insulation of all electrical parts and implants and made sure that all the Mecha-Kroxigor's parts that were exposed to rain were all rustproof.

And so it happened, that while our equipment worked flawlessly, the snotlings decided to slip in muddy pools and break their necks. They also got pummeled by our specialists, and thus after the game four snotlings never took Blood Bowl pitch again, most likely ending up in some ditch near stadium.

At the start of the match, rock-like projectile hit the Mecha-Krox and Chichi had to pull it out for the drive for repairs. Suspected armor-piercing shaped charge rocket from jealous scientist collages supported by Lustrian separatists, but cannot prove anything.

As the snotling casualties started to roll, and mud made things hard, and ogres not blocking things their way... soon enough, the match ended in a very sunny weather with undefeated ogres suffering their first ever defeat in NSL.

Ouch. I can see that I have not explained my idea well enough. The idea was to keep the teams, but switch cocahes around after a season or two. Also, if a Coach gives up during the season, the New Coach takes over his/her team. In this way, Matthueycamo's first point would be wrong. In fact, such a solution Would INCREASE the point of no Retirement rule. Right now, when a Coach retires his team, a New team will be created, and the presumably damaged team will be all fresh for the NeXT season. I Guess Our League commissioner can tell us hov many New teams has been created already. The second point that Matthueycamo makes is still relevant, though, that coaches may not bother to invest so much in fluff if they will be coaching a different team NeXT season. I think he may be right, and it's a good argument against my suggestion. Anyway, it was just a suggestion since there seems to be a problem in coaches leaving the League, With a tendency to leave for those who have the most damaged teams, and that's not a good thing either. Maybe the commisioner can give us some data on how many coaches have left so far, and thus how many new teams have had to be created?

How is it wrong? You can't transfer teams between coaches! How much clearer do I have to be? A team is linked to a players account it's non transferable. I have said this already.

"Greetings fellow coaches of the NSL.

My name is Arcayn and I represent the Khornate High Priest, Gruug-Six Horn of the Shadowlands.

I have scoured the Shadowlands and gathered the most fit Daemons and Khorngors that I could find. We have traveled from the North, across the Chaos Sea, to compete in this contest you call Blood Bowl. We may be young and inexperienced but don't mistake that for softness. We are here for one reason only and that is to serve our God.

Blood for the Blood God! Skulls for the Skull Throne!"

I have entered the new Chaos Team in the NSL,the Shadowlands Berzerkers. I am happy to have the opportunity to play in the NSL and look forward to killing and maiming each other pixels.
