there is a perfectly good fluff reason for having a dead player get MVP...

the fans really liked it when that one skaven linerat got smashed right in the face! He took it like a champ, one of a kind that player was!

Oh come on, you've not heard of the legend "Merc Lineman 1 ()"?

That guy has more mvps than anyone else on the site!

And also, there is good reason for the lino on the bench. Out of boredom, He started making jokes and funny moves along with cheerleaders and fans liked it so much that he was choosen MVP, for example.

Fluff is always available to justify rules, even silly rules.

Maybe we should be allowed to REROLL the MVP if it lands on a Dead Guy.
Or at least make the dead guy ineligible for the award.

Then again... nothing tops off a good dicing like MVP on the dead guy.
So there is that. Razz

it's the end of a TT BB game. you and yr mate have just played out an amusing 2-2 draw. you've drunk half a bottle of scotch between you. do you really want to be thinking about all the bollocks at that point? no, you don't. you just want to roll a simple dice roll to see who gets the MVP and then eat some more pizza and go watch the goblins vs elfs on the other table.

Having never played TT I did wonder about this.
How do you roll a simple 13-sided die? Or 15-sided? Do you guys own dice with every number of sides from 11 to 16?

Get a d20, reroll until you get a valid player.

People usually use a 16 sided dice and reroll when a MVP goes to unnumbered spot. Also guys roll a d6 and a d8. 1-3 take the die 8 as normal, 4-6 add 8 to the die 8. So as an example a die 6 rolls a 5, (high side) and a die 8 rolls 4. The MVP goes to #12.

16 numbered Cardboard Tokens in a Bag brother. You put as many in the bag as you have on your team before one is randonly pulled out.

example

PS: hilarious game that actually worth watching for the sheer ammount of rule breaking XD

Back in the day of TT our league made MVP rolls this way.

14 man team

roll D20

1-14 is the player. 15-19 is the player who earned the most SPP in the match. If a tie, roll off. Roll a 20 and you get to choose.

The 3rd ed box came with 16 numbered card counters, as per deyempe's answer. All these dice rolling chumps obviously lost them...

The poor Spoony Bard
eaten with great delight
deserved the MVP award
for having the goal in sight

Go to random.org, no need of dice or cardboard counters.
