Dear friends,

Last Friday I got my hands on the Skaven team.
Absolutely love it. did some drawings on how I would like to see them on my board game. Baltimore Ravens or Bengals or... Though cookie to crack.

Anyway, I did not paint anymore since '96.
Could anybody advice me on which basic brushes I need, please?
I found some really good tutorials to help me getting my painting skills back up to work but they only mention the paints and not the brush types.

Cheers

Windsor and Newton series 7 is a good solid brush. They cost a bit, but they're worth it.

For brush size 1 is decent for most of the figure painting while 0 is for some fine details. Something bigger and not necessarily as good quality is also useful if you want to drybrush (highlighting).

Army painter does some decent and pretty cheap brushes, Tamiya and p3 have a wide selection of medium and high quality ones too.

You can also get the Windsor and Newton Series 7 sable brushes, which are really good but on the pricey end.

I'd suggest getting a base coat (size 1) and detail brush (size 0). Only use them for normal painting though as undercoating, mixing, drybrushing and applying washes all degrade the brush really quickly. Once the good brushes start wearing out you can relegate them to these tasks.

I'd advise getting a super cheap brush for mixing as that doesn't need precision. You can also use cheap and ok ones or specialist ones for drybrushing and washes.

THIN YOUR PAINTS

Ok, seriously though. Avoid splotches of dense paint.
