This ogre should not get an interception roll because he fails both criteria outlined in red (all 2 squares).

I believe it has something to do with the diagonal square, as opposed to the adjacent square

He doesn't fail these. He's 2 squares from both the passer and the target.

the passer and the target are actually about 2.8 squares from each other. (square root of Cool

physically closer? that is amazing if true. I have never played a game on a grid ever that didnt measure in 'squares'

Ogre is closer.

You'll note the range ruler is a physical object that measures a physical distance, and as it measures from passer to catcher in that screenshot it passes over the square in which the Ogre stands, who is therefore necessarily closer to the passer than the catcher is, and also closer to the catcher than the passer is.

That is what words mean.

Note the big white square under the Ogre, that alerts you to the fact that he's going to get an intercept chance if you click on the pass from that square, so a further GFI would be the same odds but you don't end up with the Ogre having the ball. Hooray for Ogre intercept though!
