Background: The independent city of Marienburg has long been the center of trade of the Old World. All goods, legal or otherwise, came through it's great port. Ruled by the Directorate, a government that mostly consists of the ten wealthiest of families under the influence of many guilds, everything has a price.

With the fall of War and the rise of blood bowl, sales of guns, spears, swords went down but the demand for blood bowl merchandise. The Directorate was content to profit from the game through it's normal lines of trade, avoiding the bloodshed while raining in the profits. However, many of the skilled workers of Marienburg left their ships and their masonry to seek glory on the field with human teams. The city and it's guilds have come together to form their own teams from all walks of Marienburg life, applying the citizens previous talents onto the field.

Rational: Marienburg is for all intents and purposes Warhammer's Venice, an independent city state built in the middle of water that is ruled by rich families and trade guilds.

The linemen are bog standard human linemen, but called Rivermen as the Rivermen guild is one of the most important guilds in the city.

Unfortunate Pickpockets are based on the Unfortunate Brotherhood, basically the city's beggar guild. Yes, even the poor people on the street asking for money are part of an organized trade guild in Marineburg. While haven't found any reference to the Brotherhood employing pickpockets, it's not that far of a leap in lore logic to assume some of the beggars take a more direct approach. The closest in game skills to a pick pocket is strip ball and shadowing.

Litigants are the lawyers of Marienburg, and are unsurprisingly some of the most deviously corrupt people in a city almost quite literally built on devious corruption. The best fit for this would be a dedicated fouler. Sneaky Git doesn't actually represent the lawyers being sneaky, but rather that they are really good at arguing with the Ref.

While the Entertainer guild represents a lot of different entertainers within Marienburg, the entertainers here are two acrobats applying their circus skills, here represented by Side Step and Jump Up, to the field.

Finally, we have the Landship. It's quite literally a boat that the engineers of Marienburg pulled out of the water and added a few wheels and a steam engine slapped on. The best representation of this is a secret weapon with a lot strength and bombardier. While the landships might be a bit too big, we can always just say it's one of the smaller ones and leave it at that.

This team fits its fluff well, but fluff is only one half of a Blood Bowl team. What's the purpose of this team? What niche does it fill and how is it supposed to play?

As far as I can see it's just a highly eccentric assemblage of skills.

My idea was too create a team that was really good out of the gate in aspects that aren't naturally covered by other teams, namely marking targets, stripping the ball from the ball carrier, and fouling.

I don't think this is a very good team, but it does require a different set of tactics to face.
