Hello forum,

I have a lvl 3 guard + AG5 High Elf lineman and I wanted some input on what to get him next.

Here are my thoughts:

-Dodge: 2+ dodges everywhere & offers him some defense from being hit, but tackle will ruin his day.

-Leap: Then again, he doesn't need to make as many dodges if he just jumps in/out on 2+, and leap can't be negated. But leap offers no defense from getting hit, and since he doesn't have block/wrestle he will not be able to sack caged ballcarriers by himself.

-Block: Keeps him alive, keeps him standing to apply guard, makes it a safe option to have him carry the ball.

-->Of course, there is nothing wrong with any of these skills and in a perfect world my guy will be getting all of them, but in what order would you take them?

No poll? No link to team?

AG5 and Guard is not an optimal combination at this point. Leap would make him a one-trick pony for cage breaking assists, so only useful if you have another Leaper with at least two out of Wrestle/SB/Tackle. And he won't live long.

AG5 is great for ball retreival, I like to combine it with Sure Hands, but MA6 is not ideal for it and with Guard taking up an additional slot it's a long way to get there. If you have another AG5 on the team, don't even think about it.

Normal skill route for Guard Elf Linemen is Block --> Dodge so I guess I'd stick to that, and treat the AG5 as a side show.

Block or Wrestle.
Wrestle if you want to have a sacker, Block for better synergy with Guard.

Thank for the quick reply Verminardo,

A poll is a good idea. Let me see if I can't add one.

My team is on the PS4 Champions Ladder X. They are called: Flames of Asuryan.

It consists of 3 RR, apo, 4 catchers with dodge, 2 blitzers with blodge, and then just linos with block and one kicker.

Champions Ladder has long or short progression?
Because if the players can't be developed, taking AG 5 on a Linelf is not optimal choice.

Thanks for the input Matt,

My team is 5-1-0 as of yesterday and there are 17 days left of the regular season. When November 29th comes by, I am hoping to have played 12-20 games more, so anything is possible.

Well, you could focus on skilling that linelf up, but with 12-20 games left it's better to develop the positionals, a normal skill on him would have been better than +AG.
You could have a Blodge Guard Linelf now.

Guards get hit. Block helps the player more when getting hit. Also allows the player to hit more.

Dodge gives maneuverability for the guard. (And to a minor extent helps when getting hit.)

So obvious Block.

I would choose dodge to help him to replace and getting the guard at the right place.

I have a similar player

Plan was always dodge, then block as his next 2 skills, possibly going side step and fend last

It isn't possible to have too many ag5 players with leap.

The poor guy got a perm (-av) and I just couldn't justify his bloat any longer at that point. Lesson learned.

Dodge. It isn't even a close call.

Who said AG5 leap is a one trick pony? If you offer me ANY 2 skills on any elf, I pick +AG and leap. (unless it's a Wardancer.. double leap dosn't see like a good idea. Double Jugger hasn't worked miracles for me so far)
