It’s feels to me this edition that the designers are terrified of even slightly shaking up the power balance/meta, so any changes have to remain worse than the current Tier 1 teams.

Well that is a sensible consideration for sure. Mixing a bunch of versatile fast players with hardy dwarves did have the potential to be OP at low TV which is where the game design aims for teams to play the majority of their games.

The problem here is there is literally nothing interesting about this roster and the inclusion of loner just makes it awful. It would be easy to make a balanced roster but I think they limited them self by designing off existing sprues.

straight off the top of my head with zero thought they could go -

0-12 human linemen
0-1 Thrower animosity
0-1 Catcher animosity
0-1 Dwarf blitzer animosity
0-3 Dwarf Blocker animosity
0-3 Fling
0-1 Ogre
rr 70k

which would be a better roster and still fine within existing tiers. Still wouldn't have been a particularly fun roster but at least it wouldn't be anti fun, and with flings and and ogre there is some entertainment there. Plus a fairly distinct play style... i.e. hold the line with the dwarves, try and open a gap for the pass and catch game.

With so many negative points - reroll cost, loner, animosity, it almost needed some elves for balance.

Well it's all been said.

0-12 Human Linemen +Animosity
0-1 Human Blitzer +Animosity

70K rerolls.

The rerolls are really expensive, partly offset by having almost no one that can sanely use them, and a Human thrower as leader caddy, or Dwarf Runner as leader caddy that you should use rerolls on. So that's absurd.

Dwarves with Loner, so cant GFI. Runner has inbuolt pick up reroll so could carry, but then any dodge/Blitz out etc. gets riskier, as Loner. Rest useful maybe for hitting but.

Ah, its useless, i can't see good options here. The Animosity isnt so terrible, odd it's only one way, Dwarves happy to hand it the nearest human, but Loner kills the build.

Odd also that it's 0-2 flings ans beards. But maybe sensible, more than 2 flings would be OP.

Worse than Underwhelm I'd say, beter than Stunty races.

If you go for min/max black box build and go with zero rerolls, can you get a decent team at 1000TV and hope Nuffle shines on you with your natural skills (block, dodge, sure hands) holding you up?

Otherwise, this team looks horrendous

I don't understand why wood elves can have an entire team of ma7+, 1 turners, and blodge-leaping miracle workers, but a human team can't have a couple of slow dwarfs without Loner.

I don't understand why a chaos team gets to pick its mutatious gifts from the gods, and have four MA5 ST4 can openers on the team, with everyone else 2-head blitzing at ST4 power, but the new human team must have the 'OP' halflings nerfed.

For me to be so confused, this design HAS to be driven and decided based on low level NAF style tournaments, whatever the hell those are, right?
