College GamePlay
Built by the Gnome Depot

Chris Fouler: Welcome to the College GamePlay show, where we review and preview all of the recent National College Blood Bowl action! The NCBB has just completed its 14th season, capped off by a stellar bowl week. But before moving on, we need to take a look back at the best players from last year, so let me introduce my partners, former Cal blocker Anthony Killer and current NC State quarterback Tyler Brosius. What do you guys like most about the awards voting?

Anthony Killer: Now that NCBB graduates can be drafted by the NBFL, I think the awards voting is a great way to identify future pros.

Tyler Brosius: Agreed. Watching these young throwers grow up before our eyes almost brings a tear to those eyes...*sniffles*

Fouler: Uhh....ok then. For those of you watching, if you want to look at all of the stats from last season, follow these simple steps:

1) go to http://www.pvv.ntnu.no/~brill/fumbbl/ and bookmark the page
2) click on 'Matches'
3) copy and paste this list into the big section for match IDs:

3349182 3347937 3346314 3345564 3344645 3344302 3343394 3342960 3341740 3341285 3339686 3339609 3338903 3337330 3336684 3333326 3333303 3333144 3332447 3331696 3330620 3330614 3330277 3330271 3329161 3328908 3328250 3326668 3326637 3326350 3325739 3325397 3324563 3323591 3322915 3322569 3322110 3321618 3320739 3319944 3319513 3318519 3350070 3349443 3348309 3344691 3344601 3344217 3344156 3340880 3340472 3340055 3339287 3337540 3336082 3333333 3332080 3330896 3328901 3327650 3326056 3325735 3324294 3323824 3323571 3322913 3322878 3321934 3321455 3321268 3320890 3319574 3319568 3319158 3318568 3358246 3358978 3359785 3358560 3362437

4) if you want to see your team's stats only, type in your team's complete name into the 'Filter team name' section; otherwise leave it blank
5) click 'send matches' and wait the 20-30 seconds for the info to load
6) click 'Show total' on the right side in order to see the stats for all (of your,) players
7) enjoy

Killer: Once again we have a great group of athletes who proved themselves on the field last year

Fouler: Yes and now it's time we identify them so that they can officially be recognized. Here are this season's nominees:

ImageHammer Nominees
-The Hammer is the most prestigious award in the NCBB, given to the best overall player in college football. Players are listed in no particular order:
Michael "Jedward" Hudson, BlackKnights. 4 completions, 6 touchdowns, 3 casualties, 17 passing yards, 86 rushing yards, 27 blocks.
Connor Drekavac, Air Force. 3 touchdowns, 4 casualties, 73 rushing yards, 50 blocks.
The Cleaver, HSU. 3 completions, 5 touchdowns, 3 casualties, 3 passing yards, 43 rushing yards, 38 blocks.
Jordan Poyer, Oregon State. 9 touchdowns, 217 rushing yards. Lead the nation in touchdowns and rushing yards.
Kyle "Hammer" Gronski, Fresno State. 16 casualties, -1 rushing yards, 110 blocks. Lead the nation in casualties.

ImageBanger-Hardell Nominees
-The Banger-Hardell trophy is given to the best offensive player in the league. Players are listed in no particular order:
Jordan Poyer, Oregon State. 9 touchdowns, 217 rushing yards. Lead the nation in touchdowns and rushing yards.
Michael "Jedward" Hudson, BlackKnights. 4 completions, 6 touchdowns, 3 casualties, 17 passing yards, 86 rushing yards, 27 blocks.
Rob Bolden, Pain Statement. 1 completion, 6 touchdowns, 1 casualty, 2 passing yards, 190 rushing yards, 16 blocks.
Carl Gettis II, Missouri. 5 completions, 5 touchdowns, 1 casualty, 16 passing yards, 40 rushing yards, 24 blocks.
Stefan McClure, California. 6 touchdowns, 1 passing yard (on 0 completions apparently,) 125 rushing yards.

ImageNeeley Nominees
-The Neeley award is given to the best defensive player in college football. Players are listed in no particular order:
Hulk Hagen II, Nevada. 9 casualties, 92 blocks, 10.2 blocks/casualty.
Kyle "Hammer" Gronski, Fresno State. 16 casualties, 110 blocks, 6.875 B/C. Lead the nation in casualties.
Mustafa Jalil, California. 7 casualties, 45 blocks, 6.428 B/C.
Na'il Diggs, Ohio State. 14 casualties, 92 blocks, 6.571 B/C.

ImageWylie Coyote Nomninees
-The Wylie Coyote award, better known as the 'Gone too Soon' award, is given to the best player who had his career cut short, whether by injury, grade issues, death, kidnapping, assassination, poisoning, ex-girlfriends, Russo, "accidents," or anything else imaginable. Please note that this is annoying as hell to try and find, so bear in mind that not every candidate might be found. Players are listed in no particular order:
Lon Chaney, Nevada. Red-shirt freshman who died with 24 spps in the title game (curse of the failed wolf-dodge at Nevada.)
Gino "sunshine" DeBartolo, BlackKnights. Sophomore with 17 spps who lost too much strength to keep on the team.
BJ Denker, Arizona. Freshwoman with 19 spps who died in a gangba...an accident.
Gyhard "Yellow-billed Pintail"Grimm, Oregon. Junior with 22 spps who died as all players with really long names should.

Special mention must go out to three seniors who died before they could complete their final campaign: Kevin Rutland of Missouri and both Quentin Kantaris and Zach "Zap" Williams of the BlackKnights. This award was intended for younger players who couldn't continue their careers, not those about to graduate anyways. However these three outstanding players had at least 76 spps each, including two with over 100, so special mention had to be given to them.

ImageSOMUFTEN Nominees
-The SOMUFTEN award, or the 'Coach of the Season' award, is given to the coach who best lead his program during the season, whether it was winning a championship, overcoming numerous obstacles, or just being the least hated. Coaches are listed in no particular order:
Beerox went unbeaten in his second season and won the national championship.
Apojar claimed six wins and a Rose Bowl victory in Hawaii's inaugural season (at least this version of Hawaii)
Kyyberi orc-ed his way to five wins and an Orange Bowl victory in Pain Statement's inaugural season
Marcellus went unbeaten until the title game, despite having the worst luck with wolf-dodging in history (about three have RIPed in the past few years)

ImageGabbert-Bryant Nominees
-The Gabbert-Bryant award is given to the best quarterback, whether a passer, runner, or combination of the two, in the NCBB. Players are listed in no particular order:
Derrick Washington, Missouri. 16 completions, 70 passing yards, 90 rushing yards. Lead the nation in passing yards.
David Graves, Hawaii. 20 completions, 1 touchdown, 59 passing yards, 56 rushing yards. Lead the nation in completions.
Arnold "Bufflehead" Grokker, Oregon. 7 completions, 2 touchdowns, 38 passing yards, 51 rushing yards.
Dominic Merka, TCU. 11 completions, 34 passing yards, 77 rushing yards.
Billie the Bow, HSU. 14 completions, 64 passing yards, 32 rushing yards.

ImageWolfman Nominees
-As most of us know, players in the NCBB are only allowed to play for four seasons, and thus teams are always recruiting promising players to come in and continue on the tradition. This award will be given to the best freshman player from the past season, whether he got a redshirt in the last-last season (in this case 13,) or was hired more recently. The following players are in no particular order:
Kyle "Hammer" Gronski, Fresno State. 16 casualties, -1 rushing yards, 110 blocks. Lead the nation in casualties.
Julius Carol, Missouri. 1 completion, 6 touchdowns, 2 passing yards, 59 rushing yards.
David Graves, Hawaii. 20 completions, 1 touchdown, 59 passing yards, 56 rushing yards. Lead the nation in completions.
Curtis Dukes, Pain Statement. 1 touchdown, 6 casualties, 16 rushing yards, 64 blocks.

Fouler: Quite the list of players as always. I want to thank each of these players and their respective schools for another great NCBB season, and best of luck in the voting. The award winners will be announced on our next show, in addition to our preview of the upcoming campaign. Thank you for tuning in to College GamePlay, built by the Gnome Depot!

With the season fast approaching the robot overlords that run my teams sent some of the zombies to break into R-Fitz's compound and steal one of his computer drives that do his rankings. What we found was lacking to say the least. The security severely lacking and with limited instruction from their robot overlords the zombies were able to obtain an old floppy disk that strangely was all that was needed to hold all of R-fitz's files. The robot overlords were confused thinking that something more substantial would be needed for this so called ranking system, but alas that was all that the Zombies found.

When the zombies returned home The robots were surprised to find only the presentation system on the floppy. The robots then reconfigured the system and started producing their own ranking systems with The Presentation system mainly the same.

Without Further ado The Preseason Robotic Rankings.

Chris Fouler: Welcome to the College GamePlay show, where we review and preview all of the recent National College Blood Bowl action! The NCBB has just started its 15th season, as week one is finally underway. With so many new teams and different conferences this year, there's a lot to preview, so let me introduce my partners, former Cal blocker Anthony Killer and current NC State quarterback Tyler Brosius. We should have one heck of a season, won't we fellas?

Anthony Killer: It could easily prove to be the best one yet, Chrisss.

Tyler Brosius: We have it all this year: a bunch of new programs, a few returning programs, new conferences, and a non-Oregon defending champion. I can't wait to see what unfolds.

Fouler: Speaking of the champs, the Air Force Baal Kin return the entire squad that won the national championship; can they run the table again and go back-to-back?

Brosius: No NCBB team has yet to accomplish such a feat, but Air Force certainly has the potential to do so. They didn't lose a single contest last year, and all of their players are juniors or younger, so the team can still get better as the season goes along.

Killer: There'sss a reason that no one hasss gone back to back yet, Tyler. The difference being between the 'hunter' and the 'hunted' is night and day; last year Air Force tied ssseveral of their gamesss but thisss year they may not be asss fortunate to escape with their record unscathed.

Fouler: They also have to deal with being in a new conference, with teams they know little about. What do you make of the revamped Southern Chaos Conference, or SCC, Tyler?

Brosius: The SCC features four programs within their first three years of existance, including three that were brand new last season. Both Hawaii and Arizona tend to recruit more agile players, while Air Force and Fresno State tend to favor the big bruisers.

Killer: Fresno Ssstate in particular featuresss one of the best playersss in the country, the reigning Neeley and Wolfman award winner, Kyle "Hammer" Gronski. He led the nation in casualtiesss last ssseason, but will certainly be the main focusss of opposing gameplansss thisss year.

Fouler: One of the programs that I have my eye on is the third campaign of the Oregon State Bereavers, who look to shake off two straight overtime bowl losses and break through in this new season. They have the two-time Banger-Hardell award winner in Jordan Poyer to lead a steady ground game. However they play in a new, unknown conference, and may be a year away from having the talent needed to win it all.

Brosius: Their conference, the Fumbbl Bowl Conference or FBC for short, includes an Oregon squad that will be out to prove that last season was a glitch in their otherwise stellar history, a young HSU program that could potentially be the fastest team in the league down the road, and a Tennesee program that mysteriously returns after several seasons away. At one point the Volunteered had a sensational Non-AQ campaign and looked to be a strong program for years, but they vanished before their first bowl game. It looks they've returned to claim what they believe is rightfully theirs: a championship trophy.

Killer:Ssspeaking of returnsss, look who'sss back for another round of college ball: the Navy Midskeletonmen. They are literally the oldest NCBB team around, and apparently ssstart the ssseason asss the most talented. While they may not win a lot of gamesss historically, they produce pro-level talent at a sssubstantial rate.

Brosius: They'll do battle in the Smack 4 against a Missouri team looking to groom some new receiving threats, a well-coached Vampirebilt squad that desperately wants to return to a bowl game, and a UCon program that wants to catch up in the race with the Waterfoul in the number of championship trophies won.

Fouler: Indeed they do, Tyler, along with everyone else. Finally we have your old conference, Anthony, the Big Beast. They sent two teams to the title game last year, after the Smack sent two teams the season before that. Although technically Air Force has changed conferences, can the Beast make it back-to-back championships?

Killer: Well, each team has a few talented playersss, sssuch asss the BlackKnight'sss Michael "Jedward" Hudson, who won the Hammer award last ssseason. Overall each team looksss to be building for future sssuccesss, although it wouldn't sssurprise me if either Ohio State or California emerged late in the year.

Brosius: It deeply saddens me that I can't make as much fun of Cal anymore now that they've won two straight bowl games...I miss the days where they were winless in post-season play!!!

Fouler: But what you can do is make our always-popular preseason predictions! Who do you guys think will ultimately hold up the crystal tropy this year guys?

Killer: I foresaw Air Force getting to the title game last year, though I didn't think they'd win it all. However I don't think they'll make it back, asss Tennessee and Vampirebilt will ssshock everyone and meet for the title, with Vandy bringing home the hardware. My bonusss prediction will be that Cayman Bundage of Arizona becomes a fan-favorite by ssseason'sss end, asss well as being the Neely award winner.

Brosius: Well I correctly predicted that David Graves would win the Gabbert-Bryant last year as a freshman, and I forsee Julius Carol of Missouri winning the Banger-Hardell this season. My title prediction will be Oregon taking the crown over their unofficial rival, the UCon Huskies.

Fouler: Well there you have it folks! Season 15 brings us new conferences, new teams, and new potential stars. We'll be back in two weeks to review the out-of-conference games and look at what the new programs are doing. Until then, thanks for joining us here at College GamePlay and enjoy the new season!

NCBB S15 Non-AQ Play, round 1

Texas S&M 2 v. CSM Gore Diggers 0

Howie Duyn here, reporting on the NCBB round-1 wrap up...

What a wild game, sportsfans - no odds-maker could have predicted this one! This commentator saw Coach Secondark playing much better than the score reflects - should have been a tie at worst, and very possibly a 2:1 win for CSM against the inexperienced Aggroes, with Texas coach Smeat making some rookie mistakes at key moments. But... well... that's how the bloodball bounces, and bounce it did!

Texas S&M chose to kick off, and CSM caged up around midfield, with the Aggroes quickly surrounding and marking the cage from all sides. 4 turns of conservative play on both sides moved the ball very little if any, with Texas breaking one corner or another then getting pushed back out repeatedly. Then CSM saw an opening and broke free from near the center toward a sideline, but Texas broke the cage on 2 corners and heavily marked the ball carrier, and... and then chaos hit, and it didn't stop until the final score!

Loose balls, double skulls, desperate punts to open field that left the ball sitting lonely on the goal line for turn after turn, elves tripping and dwarves too tied up to break free. And the stretcher was busy the whole time - but somehow during the madness the rookie elf team managed to out-bash the dwarves, killing one player and putting a second out for next game, despite a 65:24 blocking difference, despite the armour advantage, despite the blocking skill of the dwarves, despite having several men out themselves?! Ooooh, Nuffle!

After the match, coach Smeat remarked:

"Respect to Coach Secondark for maintaining a sense of sportsmanship and good humour throughout this ugly example of luck triumphing over skill. I can't take credit for all this, I just tried to capitalize on luck when it came my way, and it did more than for the other team. We look forward to our next meeting, where I wouldn't bet on the same outcome!"

However, this composure is in sharp contrast to several moments our sidelines crew caught on our mobile camera during some of the more chaotic moments in the game...

<cut to footage of Coach Smeat, holding his head during 2nd half...>

"Oh fer - well, as if we couldn't... just give it away now, why don'tcha? We've lost, we've so lost..."

<different scene>

"Well, now that's the game for certain, it's #*(%in' tied, and we'll be lucky to hold on to the win..."

<3rd scene, coach Smeat hitting himself with clipboard>

"No, no, how could I forget that?!... it's a simple play, just move the unmarked man first... argh! Get me a straightrazor!..."

<and again, with the scoreboard changing from 1:0 to 2:0 in the background and coach Smeat looking around, bewildered>

"We... did what?... How... who?... but he was... how did they not... you mean... we won?..."

In this reporter's unbiased opinion, the bounce of the ball delivered this win gift-wrapped to a coach that needs to focus more on the game and less on the odds makers. Back to you in the booth, Jim!...
