Hey Blood Bowlers!

Just found this place. Been playing Blood Bowl off and on for about 10 years.

I made a team. (orcs)

I see that Academy is the place to start to get up to speed on all of this.

Question: Is the current (v5) BB Living Rulebook the base rules for all games?

Question: Does FUMBBL support moving teams from one Category to another? Meaning if I start out in Academy can my team be moved to one of the more populated categories later?

I think you have to move to unranked when you hit tr150. You can't move to any other division, but you can have more than one team at once.

You can move your team from Academy to the unranked Division.
However whilst unranked is fun, ranked is where most of the games take place. Stick with academy though, its a great place to start out

More than one is understatement.
You can have up to 40 teams.

So play in Academy til I'm comfortable with the system and then make a new team for Ranked?

Is that the recommended progression?

2nd question: Are there widely recognized races/teams that seem to dominate the pitch? Unblanced ones? I like to play for fun. Choosing and playing what appeals to me vs what is simply the most likely to win. But its nice to know what to be prepared for...

Although ranked is where most of the games are played, by me too, dont forget league, which has many different leagues/groups that offer a wider range of options and cool themes (there are special leagues/tournaments for new coaches too). There is also faction (which i personlly love, in spite of its problems). But yeah, I would play in academy for a while, and then start a new team in another division when you are comfortable enough...

The second question is hard to answer. You'll get a dozen different opinions there. You need to find out what's fun to you. After having tried a couple of different teams, I have decided that teams with low armour are not for me, as I rather enjoy team building. Also, playing races that require too much patience (dwarves, ogres) isn't for me. I can recommend Darkelves as all around fun team: They can handle the ball, they can bash, they can crowdpush, they can do everything!

This is what I was hoping to hear. All to often in games like this you find problems with particular races/teams. Its niced when any team/race can succeed. Vs certain "power teams" always dominating.

Be wary of a few matchups, dwarfs vs a dodge based team usually goes very badly for the dodge team (amazons, goblins, halflings). Apart from that you should be fine, you will develope an awareness of how good a particular team is vs another team.

Also notice that some teams are deliberately weak, this is deliberate and they are designed so they can compete but are much harder to use succesfully. The four main ones are ogres, vampires, goblins, and halflings. Be a bit careful of using these teams when you start.
