Ok this goes out to those of you with much more comp savy than me. I am an avid new addition to the Fumbbl site, however I am back at work in Algeria of all places and must log on to a LAN to a proxy server and on to the net. I am pulling my hair out trying to get the java applet or the other chat option up and running. I have even been asked for a password to what looks like a network for the Fumbbl server or site, which of course I don't have if that was the Fumbble server asking me. I typed in my proxy account and password here for the server to no avail. To the best of my knowledge I've set everything up right does anyone have any ideas on this????? I've got access to the net obviously as your reading this the problem seems to be with the chat system.
Cheers for the help, the beers are on me if you can figure this one out for me.

Well it sounds like you are trying to log into the irc server (irc.afternet.org) if this is the case the name and password are a formality. What exactly happens when you put in a password? Have you tried using an irc client instead of the Java chat? |

Ok, I am going to dumb this down to my level so please be patient with me.
I get the following on the mirc status page
* Connecting to irc.afternet.org (6667)
-
* Unable to connect to server (Connection attempt timed out)
-
* Connect retry #1 212.4.31.235 (6667)
I believe that I have set up my account correct on the afternet.org site.
ideas? (That is all I get) |

In the Mirc options box I have done the following.
Connect
-Servers no changes outside what is given (IRC Network = All)
(IRC Server = AfterNET: Random Server
Options
-Default Port 6667
Local Info
-Local Host = sheraton-net.clubdespins.net
-IP Address = blank
-On connect (always get IP address is checked)
-Look up method is (server)
Identd (I haven't touched this as I haven't got a clue what it is)
-User ID = Keith
-System = Unix
-Port = 113
Firewall
-Firewall Support = Server
-Protocol = Socks 4
-Host name = sheraton-net.clubdespins.net
-User ID and Password are my local ones here to access the net
-Port is 8080
