Hi guys,

I am relativley new to Fumbbl (Love it btw) I have seen a bunch of teams out there, like the Lavino Hell Fishes etc. that are reallly well customised and themed and I wish to copy that effort in an attempt to get more involed and enjoy the game more.

What I wanted to know is how to I go about creating a decent Team Logo for my teams and how do I create custom player icons like the Lavinos.

I'm quite good with photoshop software and the likes but I don't have any, and I don't know any free ware programs that will create images without a white background on them.

Any suggestuions?

Tbh I only noticed it a couple days ago due to buying a new computer and installing new programs. Up until a week ago I was still using the old (bugfilled) Gimpshop... Embarassed

Using GIMP.....

- open the image
- right click and go to either "layer" or "image"
- you need the "transparency" options
- now select "colour to alpha"
- chose the colour your border is... I'm guessing white.
- save as a GIF file

Note that this will colour ALL of the white areas to transparent. You can fix this but it'll take me a bit longer to post.

Ok, if you want to just do the border.... (I'm assuming that the border is completely seperated colour-wise from the rest of the image)

- open the image
- select the "pick are by colour" tool as shown in this diagram...
Image
- click on the area you are making transparent
- you should now have a flashing line around the area you want to make transparent
- right click and go to "layer" but not "image"
- you need the "transparency" options
- now select "colour to alpha"
- chose the colour your border is... I'm guessing white.
- save as a GIF file

That should work.

Ah, which bits not working? Smile

Once a region is coloured to alpha it should have greay flashing squares on it... maybe it would help if you showed us the image?

Ok I'll get the image up asap.

Whislt I'm here, I've been trying to adjust levels of an image (Basically change the colour of the armour on the human team from blue to dark red and black') Using the magic wand, when I try and effect the images it states that I 'Colour balanace operates only on RGB colour layers'

How do I change an image to RGB? Or is it that I am trying to effect the 'background' image.

If these things are getting annoying shall I post on the gimp forum?

Also, remember that custom icons work like this:

a- if you make custom human icons and replace the original ones, all humans (all humans, even other teams you spectate) will appear to you with the new icons.

b- if you create custom icons paired with a particular name, the icons will load only for that single player. Problem is that in order to have the custom icons always work, you have to always use the same names (ie when blitzer Billy Elliott dies, you have to buy another blitzer called Billy Elliott).

c- if you want to change names and have the custom icons appear, you have to edit the icons.ini files EVERY time you buy a new player (which is incredibly boring, after a while).

Solution B is the best, mainly because it lets you give away your custom icons set and when people install it, they will see your icons when spectating. Which is cool for fans. The drawback is that you will never be able to change names to players. Which is something I always accepted for my Hellfish, even before thinking of custom icons, but many people don't like it at all.
