Top 5 Races Losing Popularity in B

hey westerner: nice work, thx - if you put some code-tags around the table it'd be much easier to read Wink

Thanks. I don't know how to use table code tags. Sad

The full site is a reasonable proxy for [R], so these comparisons should be applicable.

Nice Work, Thanks.

But I think more important than the absolute changes in percent are the relative values.
So I had a look at those:

Code:

Race   Blackbox/Site   Change in %
Orc   1,31   31,47%
Chaos   1,65   65,17%
Khemri   2,42   142,23%
Dwarf   1,3   30,30%
Dark Elf   0,94   -6,04%
Skaven   0,8   -19,78%
Chaos Dwarf   1,07   7,40%
Undead   1,07   6,63%
Ogre   1,62   61,75%
Human   0,59   -41,07%
Lizardmen   0,92   -7,65%
Wood Elf   0,64   -35,87%
High Elf   0,86   -13,75%
Amazon   0,71   -29,17%
Norse   0,55   -44,61%
Nurgle's Rotters   1,06   6,04%
Necromantic   0,49   -51,34%
Elf   0,7   -29,83%
Vampire   0,64   -35,56%
Halfling   0,62   -37,55%
Goblin   0,67   -33,09%

The Numbers are small, so its not too accurate, but it shows a tendency.

I group now the teams arbitrary to show it better:
Bashers= Orcs, Chaos, Khemri, Dwarfs and Ogres
Ag-Teams= All Elves +Skaven

To sum it up, the bashers increased from 29% on the whole site to 45% in Blackbox, which is more than 1,55 times or a 55% increase, while the AG-Teams decreased from 26% to 21% (0,8 or 20% decrease).

On the whole site there are about 1,1 Bashteams per AG-Teams.
In Blackbox its about 2,16 Bashteams per AG-Team.

So you really can say, compared to rest of fumbbl: Blackbox is a Bashbox.

If thats something good or bad is not subject of this post.

Trying to work out why these statistics are important. Seems mostly a redundant exercise supporting something that was trivially obvious (even when blackbox began).

I concur with your figures except for this one:
Bash/Ag in B = 2.14, not 2.55.

But I do agree that B is lots bashier than the rest of the site.

so this means that an AG team that does well (and survives) in [B] is superior to one that does well (and survives) in [R]?

starter for 10....

Yeah, sorry, that was a Typo. Should be 2,16. I corrected it in my above post

No... What about the mythical [R] elf team that refuses to elfball, and only plays against bashers? Or the squishy [B] team that powergames TS to get lots of easy matches against underpowered opponents?

Both [B] and [R] have their advantages and disadvantages. But they are distinct environments, and the comparison is difficult. In my opinion, one team is superior to another if it is more fun to play/watch/play against. But everyone will have their own definitions.

I still enjoy playing in both divisions, and see no need for the "[B] against [R]" polarization that seems to have taken the site by storm.

Issues of racial diversity are important, since that is one of the major factors cited as limiting participation in [B]. For me, there's another statistic I'd like to see: how frequently do [R] agility teams play against basher teams? Somehow, I doubt it would be as high as 29% of the time. And if my suspicion is correct, doesn't that suggest that it's fundamentally NOT a team diversity issue... Rather, the issue would be that agility teams have a greater desire/need to pick their opponents.

Elves perhaps, but with our superior cloning facilities preparing cheap line fodder for LOS, us skaven have no reason to pick our fights Very Happy

A couple of things:

1. How many coaches are there in BBox? Because there are 1,415 teams currently according to the current stats. There are somewhere over 1,007 coaches in BBox (sorry for using your ranking as an example from the other thread Treborius, I'm only just above you!). So that's an awful lot of one-team coaches. At best it's 1.4 teams per coaches (not accounting for sub-5 match teams).

Which is important for:

2. You quote the number of teams, but this isn't what one is likely to play against (or with). If certain teams appeal to "one/few-team coaches" then these will be over-represented in the BBox draw, despite the raw number of teams.

Just something to consider.

It might be 1450 teams (currently non retired)

versus 1000 coaches having played within X month.

Hence a coach who retired his teams is counted in the standings.
