Release Notes Version 0.4.0

This is the first Beta Release of the Fantasy Football Client for public testing.

* You need Java 5 (1.5) or 6 (1.6) installed on your machine, with Java Web Start integrated in your browser (this is usually automatic upon installation of Java). For Windows and Linux users the latest version (currently 1.6.0_18) is best. For Mac users the Java 1.5 release is more stable.

* Fantasy Football will start with a single click on the Play Link, it downloads once and starts from the cache after that. It is automatically updated if there are any changes, there is no need to install anything.

* The Fantasy Football Server fully integrates with Fumbbl for User authentication (so have your Fumbbl password ready), downloading of Teams and Rosters, showing games on the Games page and uploading Results upon finishing the game (so your team may actually improve).

* Games are persisted into the FFB server database, so you may drop out and rejoin at will (even to the point of both players continuing the game some other day). In the case of a server crash (which of course may happen - this is a Beta after all) the last unfinished turn may be lost, however, but no more.

* No inducements yet, with the exception of Bribes earned via the "Get the Ref" Kickoff Result.

* All Kickoff Results and Weather effects built in.

All LRB6 teams are available for playing, but there are some limitations:
- Some teams don't have player icons for all players yet (especially the new types). Default player portraits are missing in general (see Christer's call for help), you can uplaod your own though.
- GOBLIN teams will have to do without most of their special players, as the necessary skills (Ball and Chain, Bombardier and Chainsaw) are not implemented yet (see implemented skills).
- VAMPIRE teams are missing what makes them special (no Blood Lust, no Hypnotic Gaze) as well.
- UNDERWORLD and CHAOS PACT are a bit more powerful, as the Animosity skill is not implemented yet.
- NURGLE Rotters don't decay and the team gains no free Rotters via Nurgle's Rot.
- UNDEAD and NECROMANTIC coaches can't Raise the Dead yet.

Release Notes Version 0.4.4

A server crash situation (too long player names), a game freeze (using bribes) and touchdowns counting twice made an immediate update necessary.

I'm sorry that in the course of that I had to purge the database. That means that replays prior to this release are lost (or will point to a wrong game). I really try to avoid that, but this is a beta still so I need that possibility at times.

Oops, I did it again. Several changes to the model data structure made some database changes necessary. So I had to create the tables anew and all replays and settings saved prior to this release are lost. Sorry for that.

Please take some time to verify those fixes below, especially if it was you who found the bug in the first place. I cannot close bug threads unless someone can verify that the bug is indeed fixed. Thank you!

Improvements:

* Pitch markings measuring the touchdown distance from the line of scrimmage to the endzone.
These can be shown or hidden via User Settings->Pitch Markings->Pitch Markings on/off

* Team logos shown on the pitch. If you have customized your team with a logo it is shown on your side of the pitch.
This can be configured via User Settings->Team Logos.

* Automoves and ball bounces are slowed down by 200ms to follow them more easily on the pitch and make the sounds more distinct (no "machine gun fire" anymore).

Improvements:

* Inducement phase: Bribes, Bloodweiser Babes, Extra Team Training, Halfling Master Chef and Wandering Apothecaries are available. Igor and Wizard are still missing. StarPlayers are next in the pipeline. No Petty Cash transfer yet, so inducements will be based solely on the difference in team value. A "buy inducements" dialog will appear after you've agreed to start the game if team values differ by 50k or more (the price of the cheapest inducement as per the rules).

* Sound synchronization: sounds are played in full according to their length. So automove delay is according to sound length (the length of the Step sound is 118ms).

* Some missing sounds added (click, throw).

* Player deselection works the same now for all player states (standing up, moving etc.). As long as the player has not changed his square or rolled any dice you can take back the action by clicking on him and/or select "Deselect Player".

Known limitations:

* Bribes don't work properly for Secret weapons yet.

Improvements:

* Star Players are available for Inducement.

* New Game Startup sequence includes choosing Journeymen and showing how that effects your Team Value. Buying inducements comes right after that dialog.

* Throw-Team-Mate sequence has changed to picking up the thrown player first and placing the range ruler second.

* New skills implemented are: STRIP BALL, LEADER (thanks to Hangar18) and CHAINSAW.

* Secret Weapons being banned may use Bribes now to try to remain in the game

Known Limitations:

* Star Players may take your team above 16 players.

* Apothecary may be used on Star Players.

* Both teams may hire the same Star Player.

* Star Player Brick Far'th does not bring Grotty along (they should come as a package).

* Christer still needs to add Journeymen to the post-game-phase, so you don't get to keep them yet.

* On High Kick player is selected via a simple click rather than dragging him onto the ball.

Yet another bugfix release. This one without a database purge. I try to get rid of game (and fun) breaking bugs first, especially those that freeze the client in any way.

Improvements:

* Automove handled by server instead of client -> less latency -> faster automove.

* Kick skill can now be correctly used AFTER the kickoff scatter has been rolled.

* Blood Lust Result Reporting improved (who is bitten by whom and who gets sent off)

* There is a Hypnotic Gaze Recovery and Confusion Recovery option for players not wanting to move.

* Added 5 new in-game sounds.

Bugs fixed:

#19 Break tackle not applied to rerolled dodge.

#35 Game freeze on rerolled TTM Fumbbl

#57 Can't reroll take root or stand up rolls

#61 Bloodlust: after knocking out opponent, thrall isn't bitten

Release Notes Version 0.5.7

Introducing the test mode made some changes to the model necessary, resulting in yet another database purge.

Test Mode:

* Enter test mode by using a game name that starts with the prefix "test:".

* In test mode there is no result uploading and the game does not appear on the games page.

* In test mode you can login twice (that is play against yourself), the only restriction being that you can't play a team against itself (so you need 2 different teams).

* In test mode team ownership is not checked. This way you can "borrow" a team from someone else and test your team against a specific opponent by playing both your team and his.
To do this replace XXX with the team id in the following URL: http://fumbbl.com/ffb.jnlp?id=XXX

* In test mode there are new chat commands (/roll and /skill). They are described in the help menu.

Other improvements:

* Player detail is showing the player number on the team now.

#2 Disturbing presence not affecting TTM

#71 No Kick-Off possible

#90 Automove - Player is placed halfway and ends his turn
