*Note*
Waylander the Slayer is a character starring in a book trilogy (of which I've never read). Dakeyras is the true name of the character.

Dakeyras, otherwise known as Waylander the Slayer, took a moment to admire the rising sun before continuing his training. For the past few weeks, he had been rising before his teammates, dedicating this time to precision and technique before starting the Doctrine drills dedicated to strength, speed, and stamina. He needed to be at his best if he was going to be the star ball carrier for the Pandemonium Doctrine.

The coach had been quite surprised that Waylander the Slayer wasn't interested in doing some actual slaying on the pitch. Even so, he agreed to let Waylander share ball-carrying duty with Loh. Dakeyras accepted, certain that he would outshine the brutish blacksmith with his superior dexterity and speed.

Instead, his first game, against the skaven "Mich and the Munchies!", in his new position had been a disaster. That psychotic clown had sabotaged his gloves and boots, using some sort of powder that caused his hands and feet to break out into bloody blisters. He couldn't run properly, nor grab the ball right. Coach kept calling him off the field to let the doctor examine him, but Dakeyras insisted he could keep playing. His 2nd drive had even looked promising at the beginning, when he tripped the rat ogre that came charging at him. A few moments later though, he fumbled the ball on the ground; the rats scored a 3rd touchdown thanks to that play. The final slap in the face being when Loh finally picked things up and threw the ball to Raluto for what would eventually be the only Doctrine TD.

Coach Calthor had been rather quiet after that match. A few words to the Jester regarding how he should save his pranks for the opposing team, and then he locked himself in the office. Dakeyras couldn't get a read on what the coach was thinking, but when the next game came, he didn't see the ball.

Determined not to be outdone though, Dakeyras made plans that would temporarily remove Loh. Donning his Waylander persona, he made sure that him and the Jester had some time for a one-on-one chat. With care-chosen words and a show of the blade, Waylander the Slayer emphasized to the Jester why he should oblige him with his plan. The Jester, though unfazed by the threats, smiled quite eagerly at the unfolded plan. When the Doctrine faced Khemrix on the pitch, it would not be ill-fortune that saw Loh Psidid badly hurt that day. The Jester and Waylander had been near at hand, making sure that Loh was laid low by Hor-Ahax's hit. Waylander had no competition for the coming drive, and made a good hand-off during his drive. The Jester laughed maniacally for the rest of the day (fortunately, it was behavior no different than any other day for him).

Loh bounced back though, and scored next game against the vampires. Dakeyras hadn't dared trying another dirty deed, so he did naught but hit harder during the next drive. One of the thralls had to be carted off because that.

Blood Bowl was turning out to be the greatest challenge Waylander the Slayer had ever faced, and he had he faced werewolves, enhanced knights, and even slain a king. However, he would not be deterred; Blood Bowl's next legend would be Waylander the Slayer!

Days like these reminded Loh Psidid of his days at the forge, back when he was a simple village blacksmith. The sweltering heat could incapacitate any unwary man. Though Loh had taken precautions to hydrate near the end of the 1st half, the burning sun had taken its toll on the rest of the team. Two men hadn't made it onto the pitch, while three others collapsed at the ref's whistle.

Without that manpower on the field, the Doctrine fell apart. Three of the opposing players had swarmed over Loh, pressing him back until he was knocked from the pitch itself. Lying upon the hard ground, the beating sun nor roaring fans gave him no pity. Loh forced himself back up, and tried to reenter the pitch.

A whistle's shrill sound filled the air, and the ref stood before Loh, barring his path. Loh was about ready to bat the pipsqueak aside when the league guards got a hold of him. "League rules! No one enters the pitch until the drive is over!" screamed the goblin. The opposing team was taking ample advantage of the ref's distraction, repeatedly fouling the remaining Doctrine players on the field. That only made Loh's blood run hotter. Finally, Loh bashed aside the guards, and lifted the tiny ref so that they were at eye level.

"Alright, fine!" roared the black smith. He spun the poor creature about in his hands, and pointed it's head at the latest atrocity. Leaning in towards the creatures ear, Loh continued his bellowing, "Go call the foul!" With that said, Loh launched the ref back onto the pitch. Though the landing was undoubtedly a painful crash, the goblin managed to blow his whistle and weakly point at the nearby hobgoblin, sending him off the field. Loh Psidid felt quite pleased with himself, though it did little to reverse the team's misfortunes on the field. By the time the drive finally ended, only Spikkels, Bulwar, and Raluto were left. The latter stumbled towards Loh's direction, a beaten yet fiery aura about him.

Loh slapped him on the back. "Kid, you did good". Raluto was one of the youngest members of the team, but definitely one of the more talented. Smart, quiet, and obedient, Loh wished his apprentices back in the village had been like Raluto.
Raluto slipped a metal object out of his uniform and pressed it into the black smith's hand. Loh eyed the item, and found it to be a well-crafted metal knuckle, undoubtedly dwarf-made. Loh nodded his head towards the chaos dwarfs. "They were using these?" Raluto nodded.

It figured. Loh had been playing with the Pandemonium Doctrine long enough to know that they were tough enough to take a little heat. After failing to stop them in the 1st half, the dwarfs must have decided they needed some extra help in the 2nd half and used the weapons to knock the LOS players out. Raluto, keen eyes that he has, must of seen this and snatched one of the weapons when they hid them in their uniforms.

Loh slipped the knuckles onto his hand. Dwarf hands were large, but so was Psidid's. "So kid, you up for a little payback?" spoke Loh. Raluto grinned back, and Loh would have sworn that red eye of his might have glowed a bit.

There were only a few seconds left to the game. The Chaos Dwarfs sat at the backfield while the team's remaining hobgoblins ambled to the line, a single dwarf with them since the team's other hobgoblins were banned or dead. Tiallin tried to pump the crowd up, and was knocked out by a rock for his efforts, cries of pansy elf filling the air (unlike most of the team, the sun actually had done him in earlier). When the whistle blew, Raluto and Loh broke away from the team and drove towards a lone hobgoblin.

The stupid creature didn't even try to move. Raluto restrained him, and Loh rose his fist into the air, letting the entire stadium see the weapon on his hand. The entire audience roared in delight when the former blacksmith smashed the creatures face in, a blow that would surely keep the hobgoblin out for the rest of the day. When the ref came to blow the whistle at him, Loh smashed him down too. Finally, he removed the knuckles, and tossed it to the nearby dwarf, thanking him for the loan.

The judges declared Loh the Doctrine MVP. They could be quoted to say, "It was the best ref abuse we've seen in months". The Pandemonium Doctrine had only managed a tie that day; Loh Psidid, however, felt like he won the day.

It was a bit painful for me watch that match, though I attribute that primarily to the fact that Raluto was determined to eat through the team rerolls with double skulls (failed a gfi too).

Match #16: Another close, well-fought loss. We blame the difficulties in this match to Helmut Wolf...

Looks like the team is in a bit of a rut, let's hope we shake it off soon.

Match #18: Team captain Tiallin Turncloak refuses to part with the ball in the dying moments of the match, leading to a draw against Chaos. Management and fans are in outrage! It is possible Turncloak will be taken off his duty as team captain...

NEW TEAM CAPTAIN

Management has officially decided to pull Tiallin Turncloak from his function as team captain. After careful consideration, Loh Psidid has been named the new team captain! Management has seen his development as a solid ball-handler, thrower and stable pitch presence, and believes that at least for now, Loh is the man to take the team forward.
