There was a blog earlier in the week written by a frustrated coach. He was looking for his local tournament tabletop Blood Bowl fix, but the event he was going to attend was going to use some daft Beach Bowl ruleset, and he was disappointed. He then wasn't aware of the other (more normal) Blood Bowing goodness going on around him.

I'm someone that's always banging on about how you should all be playing more tabletop. The NAF is a wonderful organisation that oversees quality weekend fun, and there really is Blood Bowl going on at a location close enough to you that you can dip your toe in and have a go.

But how to communicate that? Well, in the UK, we have a very useful resource over on TFF, Cribble / Don_Vito maintains the below list of upcoming events which I will keep updated here as more events pop up. Knowing that it is effort to visit another website / make an account or whatever (TFF is a barrier to even those of us that are into tabletop, I assure you), I thought I'd copy and paste his fine work here. All of the links work without an account, I believe.

If you have any interest, questions or general chat about the below, please post in the thread or drop me a PM. I can put you in touch with all of the relevant people, sort you out a lend of minatures, etc. and you can make your Blood Bowling debut! Make 2014 the year you have a go, you'll never look back.

You might be thinking, this is all well and good for the UK, but what about anywhere else? Well, the NAF has a list of upcoming tournaments, but I have no doubt that regional websites have a more detailed and tailored list for their country. Perhaps a representative from each community could copy / paste on our forum too? I suspect many FUMBBL coaches know where to find tabletop information if they are in the mood to look, but there is nothing like an occasional update nudge to pique a bit of interest.

With that, gloriously copied / pasted details! Many thanks to Don Dave for all of his hard graft (Lunchmoney now covers this, so thanks to him!):

Glad you think so!

Again - all credit to Cribble / Don_Vito for maintaining the list, I am merely a copy / paster. I hope my tiny bit of work (in relative terms) inspires the odd new tabletop coach!

I assure you I am just as passionate about TT types giving FUMBBL a go. If you aren't doing both - you're missing out! Razz

I know it says British but adding Amsterdam to the list might inspire a few people. Wink

Which Amsterdam tournament? The Dutch Open? I'm going to that (1/2 Feb.), but it might be a bit short notice for some?

I'd love the Dutch to do their own thread. If I start putting overseas tournaments on, it'd become too bulky and messy.

You're a sneaky guy Purplegoo. You refuse to put it on the list but give us the dates plus the added endorsement that you'll be attending yourself. Nicely done. Wink

I was genuinely confused, is all! I'm sure it will be a cracking weekend of Blood Bowl followed by the Superbowl in the pub. In Amsterdam, with all that entails.

Not a bad weekend away, really! Smile

Nice thread. I'm very interested in the NAF Championships England, as it's just down the road from me, and £100 inc hotel+food seems great value, especially when I can get a train there for a fiver.

I see your a ref as well! One question on the rules

Quote
* The event will be using new rules this year. Teams will be TV110, with 3 skills before game one, and 3 skills (one of which may be a double) before game four. All skills must be chosen before the tournament and printed on your roster.

Are you allowed star players? I've a lovely model of an orc chainsaw player (Ugroth Bolgrot, 100k, would fit perfectly into the starting line up)

PaddyMick! The NAF Championship will be a tremendous celebration of Blood Bowl, would be great to have you.

Stars are normally OK, but only if you have a full 11 man roster first. So, stars as players 12+, not as part of an 11. I expect a full rulespack is imminent, and this will be confirmed in that document.

I recommend you get in on the hotel deal, I stayed there last year, and it was tremendous value. Cracking breakfast too.

Two other bits here that I've remembered this afternoon, and then I promise I'll let the thread drop until updates to the calendar become available:

1. One date that should be in every Blood Bowler's diary is the World Cup. Next year, 2015, the World cup will be in Lucca, Italy. I was lucky enough to be one of the panel of coaches that assessed the bids (Australia, Belgium, Spain, Denmark and the winning bid from Italy), which you can see here if you are a NAF member. Suffice as to say, this (probable) 600+ coach behemoth is going to take tournament BB to a whole other level. The 500 coach World Cup in Amsterdam 2011 was something else, I personally can't wait for Lucca! Exact dates are yet to be released, but expect October / November.

2. The 8/9 November will see Ostend, Belgium host the Eurobowl. The Eurobowl is Europe's international team event, and I have the pleasure of captaining England as we look to retain our crown. If you're new to TT BB, 2014 will be too soon for you, but in 2016, a new captain will be selecting his eight men to represent English Blood Bowl. Could that be you? The EurOpen is a side event to the Euro Bowl, and it carries a high level of competition and gravitas. One to have in the back of your mind if you're looking for a nerd holiday with fantastic beer!

What about the rest of us?

I demand that you make a list of all the TT tournaments for 2014, world wide! Hop to it chap! Smile

The TT Swedes I have met are superb guys. I hope one of them will make a Scandinavian list. Smile

If you are close to Denmark, I went to the Danish Open in Copenhagen two years ago. Super high quality, awesome hosts, dirt cheap beer. A real highlight. I'm sure the Swedes have some wonderful events too (Ghost Bowl seems to ring a bell - is that real?), I've just not had the pleasure of going yet!
