I am. I am using a Mac computer. It says: Error exception: java.lang.NullPointerException

Then lists a bunch of Mumbo Jumbo.

I should say that it does appear to almost load then stops and gives that error message. I have checked my security, all looks well. I also have checked and I have not or do I need any apparent updates. Frustrating, but I am being patient. Smile

There was an update earlier by C to get rid of that security pop-up that you get before every game. Clearing your Java and/or Java Web Start cache should sort it. Though I ain't a Mac user, so it might be a separate thing, and don't ask me how.

I'm also having this issue on my 'work' computer, but not my home computer.

'Clearing your Java and/or Java Web Start cache' may seem an easy solution but this tech-tard doesn't know how to do that. Some step by step instructions would be appreciated.

That's all the help our resident IT guy had...

I'm on a Mac as well, and get the same message as you Keggie.

I tried to clear a java cache - or at least that's what I think I did....

didn't help though

Instructions for Java cache on a PC: http://www.java.com/en/download/help/plugin_cache.xml

Christer's instructions for clearing Java Web Start on a Mac: system preferences->Java->view->select all fantasy football records->click red cross button

That's all I can offer. I don't know if clearing the Java cache is the same thing as the Web Start one, never used a Mac, and frankly, am at least as much of a tech-tard as you guys.

I'm on OS X 10.9.1

Java downloaded the client, it took a while and then i had to click a box saying that I want to run the app and it worked.

Thanks, that's the url I tried, but didn't change things.

And unfortunately my "system preferences" doesn't have a "Java" entry. I guess my OSX is older - 10.6.8.

Should anyway, should be down at the bottom of the system preferences menu.

You might find Java if you use Spotlight (magnifying glass in top right corner of desktop).

Still didn't solve my problem though.

I don't really know what is going on for those of you where it doesn't work. Please find me on IRC if you have the time and inclination to assist me with finding the problem.

Thanks for the walk through Christer.

Try to
- Clear cache from Java Preferences-General (or Network if you're on 10.6.8 or older).
- Then try spectating a game
- If spectating works, try starting a game as normal
