Attention YouTube video makers

I think it would be a very good idea (once the new client goes live) to do a video on the client and the options that you can toggle on and off .

So show where you can switch weather effects on and off, how to switch between the normal pitch custom pitch and basic pitch. How to save your set up, how to write player tags on a positional and on a pitch (I often put a 6on the pitch to show how far from the end zone 6 squares is so I know at a glance).. Show where it tells you what a cards effect is after it is played. How to turn sound on and off, pitch logos on and off. How to turn the range ruler on and off when passing, and pitch markings.

This would be really useful, it could be done in the ffb test division in test mode which would make things easier.

Hope some one picks this up and runs with it as it would be a fantastic addition.

Good idea Garion - will have a play with those in test mode and then do one. In the meantime, here's me and my two boys commentating on a Nurgle v Pact game - not a Clawpomb in sight, we're obviously both rubbish at the game!

I am happy to do garions idea, but had a play last night and can't actually figure out what some things do. Custom pitches? Player icons? Any guide around?

I assume you mean the drop downs? If not, ignore the below...

Official tournaments and Blackbox now have their own pitches. You're able to select between the 'custom' pitch if available for the game you're playing / spectating, the 'default' pitch and a 'basic' pitch which is just a solid green with white lines iirc. I think the plan is to eventually allow leagues to have their own custom pitches too.

Icons are much the same. At the moment, you can choose between the default icons and letters ('abstract icons' - I think?), but in the future, with planned customisation, we'll hopefully be able to upload our own icons, which we can toggle between with that drop down.

Ok cool. Can you select custom pitches in test mode?

Not sure if there is a command for that.

Ooh, just returning to this. Didn't read before that Blackbox has its own pitch. Fun times!

In related news, I have been live streaming tabletop Blood Bowl, and Christer has sorted me out with an awesome app that displays the score:

And have now used it in anger, but unfortunately OBS eats computer power, so I had to turn down the framerate leading to some jerkiness problems. On we go, however!

OK, heading back to Fumbbl videoing, after adventure in tabletop. Will do one tomorrow evening about how to use the various things in the client (marking players, pitches etc), so if you have any particular hints, let me know and I will include them.

Also, looking for 3 willing volunteers - two people to play a match and someone to co-commentate with me. Could be fun from a recording point of view?

Punting should be an option if you have kick: Pick any square and Roll a D6; on a 2-6 the ball scatters 5 squares from where you aimed. On a 1 you muffed it! Very Happy

In rough order of how a game flows...

o How to get a game, either in Ranked, in Box, or by shared game name.
o How to pick Inducements (comment that you cannot pick cards after passing on them)
o How to label players (and comment about "inventing your own short-hand")
o How to label field (and comment re when to use - planning cages or passes, or range of defense, etc.)
o Save Setup(s), Load Setup (comment re il/legal setups)
o Options - sound level, spec sound, turn on/off logos,
o How to Kick Off
o Automove (just how it works)
o popups - Sidestep, Grab, etc etc.
o How to activate optional skills (Leap/Stab/etc.) (they all start w/ re-clicking player)
o Pass/Hand Off/Blitz/Foul must be chosen BEFORE moving player.
o Pass to empty field (aka "punt")
o How to read Weather effects (mousehover)
o "good weather" field option*

(* If you were to play a Test game, you could force dice and select a weather)
