I have avoided death rollers on my Dwarf teams in the past. However I bought one on my League team (bringing TV close to 2000TV) for a big match against Khemri. Definitely made a difference ... for a half.
I am inclined to keep him and see how it goes but my next match is High Elves.
Anyone got hints of tactics to share for a deathroller wannabe? Should I put him on in first half? When im kicking? Or receiving? Does he get LOS duties or do I wait to commit him? |

meta: you try to play 100k up. When you can't, put 100k in petty cash. =D
Against fast teams, you use it on offense. 3 die blocks for 5 turns, then fouls for 2 turns. Against the more slow blocky teams you play it on defense, to act as roadblock, cagebreaker and rallying point for your dorfs.
Alternatively, you can always play it on defense in the hopes of encouraging your opponent to score quickly, leaving you room for a 2-1 grind. |

Is the deathroller anything but a liability? I've been wanting to try it out, but then I think about what skills I could get for his TV and I just can't justify it to myself.
Am I wrong? |

Death roller clearly isn't worth it. That said dwarves are so ridiculously awesome to start with you can afford to take one for the lols and still win. |

He helps a lot against highly developed bash teams. If money isn't an issue, he probably should be dropped if several games against fast and agile teams are coming up. But then again, skills on the roller are nice, too. My favorites would be Guard and Grab, with Dodge on a double.
Against bash teams, if you have nearly no bench, clearly field him when kicking first. Otherwise you might end up "enjoying" him for one turn only. |

The Roller is for fun. Dwarves are a crutch anyway so you can afford to have the dead weight on the team. |

Dwarfs are not a crutch team. Sure they are tough, but if you get out of position with them or god forbid, drop the ball, good luck with that. |

he's a great cage breaker starting with breaktackle 7ST. If you're opponent is caging his way to the endzone, the deathroller can quickly quash that plan.
blitz with him a lot to take advantage of the juggernaut (less turnovers).
when a TD is soon, switch to his dirty player. He's about to leave soon anyway, so the fouling is free of consequence.
and of course, bribes make him awesome! |

That is interesting, something I've never really thought about. Of course, stalling against Dorfs, can really hurt them.
So the opportunity to 'get rid' of the roller, may actually be his greatest use. Opponents ignore the stall, or prematurely score, just to get rid of him (especially if he's merrily re-flattening downed opponents).
Of course, the Roller's greatest claim to fame is breaking Dungeon Bowl........so typically Dwarven. |

yeah, DORFS are no longer the EASY MODE that they once were. Claw has seen to that. Man, those tin cans open easy when they meet the can openers. Then they are just short fat clumsy elfs. |

Believe it or not, it's actually possible to play Blood Bowl outside of FUMBBL! |
