good day

[quote="harvestmouse"]

I have absolutely no idea. If anybody knows how to stop a drunk mouse posting, I'm open to ideas.

[quote="harvestmouse"]

give the mouse a photoshop/paint so he can design some horrible awesome disturbing appearance faces instead.

Critical view, I think you could do with a little bit more contrast in areas.

The purple mino claw, be a bit more extravagant. A darker border colour will give you more palette options.

The same with the furless skaven.

Darker outline, slightly darker main colour will then give you more scope for highlighting and you're still have the shading options.

Oh and that goblin needs shooting. Would you like to try and design a Pact goblin based off of the goblins we already have? Maybe use the forest goblin as a base?

Yeah, the contrast and the shading, this itchy pixelling is all still a bit learning for me. That's why it is great that I can play around with some already existing ones.
The first couple of modifications I didn't even use the proper 1pixel pencil (which is one reason for unclean edges, with my usual work settings I never use the pencil but only variations of the brush).

With the UWD Skaven Thrower, I indeed tried to get a brighter outline than usual so it looks less like fur. But I will try a darker version soon. Or maybe use the Chaos Pact Elf as Colororientation (very bright with purplish/pinkish outlines). I will also add a mutant variation with the original gif.

Also I will play around with the Mino Claw some more. Just started yesterday collecting existing Claws. For now it might simply help already to change the claw's color of the Mino in blue pants.

What I will also try to improve is how to deal with extra arms. The transition from body to new arm and also moving the original arm more around.
How big are player icons actually allowed to be? Or which guy is the biggest in the game? So I could orientate myself when trying to move limps, claws or second heads further around.

Chaos Pact Goblin, hmmm, not sure about designing a new character yet. But these Forest Gobbos look nice, mostly I like their shamanImage Smile

I must admit, I liked the Pact Goblin too. Because he looks very strange.

In tabletop, most specialist games from Games Workshop included the rule that the miniature "should" represent as accurately as possible its stats. Specially regarding weapons (like in Mordheim) but also in mutatons (again, like in Mordheim) as it had impact on competitive game. I don't see why this should be the exception.

[Edit] That said, man, these look AWESOME. I'd totally love to use at least one or two of them in my chaos pact league team.

There is a difference in Fumbbl though. Seeing the opponent's skills is just a mousemove away, you can even shift-click on any player and mark them with their skills (or mark them for a revenge kill Smile ). All the informations are handily and in second visible. So I guess there is a bit less need than in tapletop.
And to make it fair there would also be a need to make Skilllevels in general visible. I guess that would become too much work unless you rely on small symbols etc.
But yeah, if mutations will be included in fumbbl I am personally all for it. Let the Underworld Goblins celebrate their short lives like a peacock.

I see your point, tough in tabletop you can also ask your opponent about his/her player's stats and he/she's supposed to answer truthfully. But I also know that in tabletop gamers tend to mod or paint their best players with much more attention, so I guess their awesomeness comes to the eye more quickly...

OK, I guess I'm just mumbling now. Let me just repeat myself: totally great work you did there, pal. Good job!

Had a little play around with your claw, maybe you can see what I mean?

Regarding size, each icon is the correct size for his strength. But there's a little playing around with ST3 for example.

The pact icon is very old and doesn't fit in with the new look.

You are right, it is much more visible with the darker outline.

About past icons etc I'm too new here, I don't know the history. Where the Icons replaced? But not all yet, and the Pact Goblin is yet to be updated?

Super Awesomesauce man!

Keep up the good work & make sure Christer & the design crew know about it, so it could, one day, maybe, hopefully, be added in to the client.

I agree with mouse about the Pact icon. It's a bit too small for me and looks weird compared to the other Goblins.

I love these mutations and think they'd look ace, but it might be a long while before it's something the client can do (these wouldn't just be custom icons, they'd require individual player icons). On the other hand something like the fur-less Skaven could be used universally as soon as possible if they got some support. If I were you I'd spend a bit of time working on them and see what you can do. I think they'd look great in place of the borrowed Skaven ones they currently use.

If you put the claw I amended in PS you can see what I've done with it. I didn't spend that much time on it, but you'll get the idea.

The stunty icons in lrb are from a similar age to a lot of the icons. However when Nick Kelcsh did them, he didn't really keep to the same style. They're also a bit on the small side to give much detail.

Stunty division totally revamped the icons, as a lot were from the 'Pat' era, which before Nick's. So they have been used to update the CRP stunty icons. That Pact goblin, looks like it was overlooked (unless it has been replaced).

So that's a dead cert for a redesign using the stunty div's goblin icons. Be that cheaters, forest or squigs. Cheaters are used for the standard goblins, Squigs for underworld. So it would look best if the forest goblins were used for the Pact. I also see pact as a 'steppes/plains' type team, so probably forest goblins have the best look.

Alright, so there is quite some history.
Well I hope I will find some time to play around with fumbbl icons again the later half of this week. If I can get some Pact Gobbo going I will let you know here first Wink

Standard Goblin is best, like Dirty Dan.
