*** Blasensky from the CoS Quarter Finals ***

Godzillah did it again! We have the fourth and last Semi Finalist, Blood Bowl fans, and it's the Nurgz after all. So the bad news is the „classic“ final of Chaos vs. Nurgle is still possible. The hopes of the ARR fans are crushed with both of their contenders out in the first round of the main draw, they will now likely support their FUBAR compatriots, the Sons of Brutus, who are the next to face Godzillah. The High Elves of Rise Like a Phoenix lost some players early and were forced into some risky plays, which almost paid off a couple of times, but never quite did. Seems they had used up their luck in previous rounds, and so the Nurgle won the game with a minimalistic 1-0.

The real bummer was the low spectator turnout though, the stands were mostly empty and looking around the desert camp, it seems that the caravan has moved on, only a few guys on a bad hangover, some local residents and the hardcore HLP fans are sticking around while everyone else has caught a ride to Ulthuan, where the higher reputed R Major and Milford hold court. But luckily for you, O knowers of fine Blood Bowl, your man Blasensky is one of those die hards still sticking around! Now if only I can find one of those water vendors I'll be just fine. Wait, where has my tent gone?

Speaking of which, Sons of Brutus vs Godzillah kicks off at 09.30 server time on Thursday morning.

It'll be a battle for all underdogs, everywhere.

Thanks mate, I had entertained idle dreams of how far I could go after the draw, but I fully expected them to come crashing down. Wink Rise Like a Phoenix will certainly be back for more Majors, not sure if the Wheel is the best format for them though. We shall see...

*** Blasensky from the CoS semi finals ***

The first semi has been played this fine morning, Blood Bowl fans, and what a match it's been! Ah, the suspense! Sons of Brutus vs. Godzillah, the two lightweights battling it out for the role of underdog in the final. Nurgle started receiving and played a controlled offence, scoring T8. Then managed to force the Humans into scoring T5 of their drive, and staging a promising counterattack. Under strain, the Sons put up a last line of defence, but after a few blocks the way was pretty much open. Just a 2+ Dodge, with reroll, to the score. Or block that Stand Firm Blodger with the Rookie in hopes of getting a Pow? You're already guessing it, Blood Bowl fans, the block failed and wasted a reroll, and the Sons of Brutus won the coin toss for overtime.

But it wasn't over yet. Godzillah had gained the numbers advantage and were giving the Humans no openings to score. They managed to knock the ball lose and pick it up, but the Sons countered and then finally, a turnover on Nurgle's side provided the opening and a passing play just outside of Disturbing Presence range ended the game in the Human's favour. Needless to say, the HLP fans (those who remained in the desert, anyway) didn't wait for nightfall to start the celebration. But as you can hear in the background, it's still in progress!

Now, last year Red Corsair unforlorned Humanity in a Ranked Major. Can the Sons of Brutus follow up for Box? Whoever wins the other semi, the Human fans will be praying to Nuffle for many many dead or seriously injured players, while coach CroixFer will be contemplating that fateful block that likely cost Godzillah the win...

Indeed it wad bad decission making, but should I have gone for the dodge, I would have snaked it anyway, so my fate was sealed no matter what my choice was...

Still, one of the most exciting games I can recall. Worth your time for the replay.

*** Blasensky from the CoS semi finals ***

We're back from the Khemri desert Blood Bowl fans. The second semi did not yield any big surprise. The Dwarves put up some fight but failed to do any significant damage to Chaos, and so they didn't stand a chance. Schnucken proceed, so it's heavyweight CPOMB Chaos vs. HLP heroes for the final. Basically the Box in a nutshell. Elfbowl qualifiers, Cinderella Nurgle teams, ARR antics, and it all comes down to this. In the CRP era, only the three big CPOMB races have been able to win the Crown of Sand. Can the Sons of Brutus break the spell? Will courage and some 500k inducement money be enough? Or will Schnucken, who already crushed the hopes of the Orcs in the qualifier, also crush the hopes of the Human League and everyone else who loves an underdog? Will the coaches, both playing their first Major final, show any nerves?

We will find out in the final of this seventh Crown of Sand.

** Milford from the Championship match of the Crown of Sand **

Oh, my FUMBBL fans what a titanic clash of titans! This one will go down into the history books as one of the best finals matches of all time.

Sons of Brutus, champions of Humanity gave it their all, put it all out there in one titanic effort on the pitch.

So many chances, so many clutch plays by Schnucken. This match was destined for OT.

OT did not disapoint but the defense of the chaos scumm was too stout. Destiny was at hand in a Shoot Out.

The fans where confused, no idea what was going on. The refs explained to the fans that each team will kick the ball through the goal posts that are set up on the back side of the endzone. Most fans just thought the goal posts where for "looks" and had no clue they actually had a purpose. Each team would kick the ball 6 times, team with the most goals wins. 6 different players have to make one attempt.

The drama was thick as both coaches decide who their "6" players would be. There was some confusion as it was very obvious from the press box neither team had any clue how to kick the ball through the uprights.

This shoot out was a classic.

First up for Schnucken was Schmuh II. He lined up the kick and his tentacle got in the way and he trips and falls and head butts the ball 2 ft as he lands on it, heads first.

Second up for Schnucken was Schnucke II, He picks up the ball to drop kick it but his claw deflates the ball and the kick goes 3 ft straight up and plops on the ground.

Third up for Schnucken was Schven IV, he lines up for the kick and runs at the ball, kicks it with his toe. His mighty foot blows the ball high into the sky, it veers on a massive hook and sails very wide left into row 24 of the upper deck.

Fourth up for Schnucken was SChimnmelpfennig VI. He lines up the kick and with grace and agility boots the ball right down the middle, A GOAL!!!!

Fith up for SChnucken was Schamala VIII, a very interesting choice as it is well know his agility has been lacking for a few months, must of been a veteran "nod" from coach. He lines up the kick, it looks good but a gust of wind from the heavens moves the ball in flight a little to the right. It bangs off the right upright and bounces out!

Sixth up for Schnucken and their last attempt. SChneewitscghen III. He calmly lines up for the attempt, he confidently strikes the ball and it sails just inside the left up right, GOAL!!!!

The fans come to their feet as the Sons of Brutus take the field. They got this in the bag, easy, no problem, the chaos scumm could only manage 2 goals.

First up for the Sons is team captain Biff Powers. He lines up the ball, adjusts it on the kicking tee, checks the wind, runs up to the ball and kicks the ball right down the middle of the up rights. The fans come to their feet and the Schnucken fans are down cast, a few are making their way out of the stadium to get ahead of the rush of fans.

Second up for the Sons is Bean Chaste, he lines up the kick, takes 4 steps and kicks the ball. OH, NO!! it goes off the side of his foot, and only rises 2 ft off the ground and dribbles through the endzone.

Third up for the Sons is Bern Daphucers, he attempts a drop kick, which suffers titanic FAIL! the ball hits the ground bounces up to shoulder height and he miffs the kick, MISSES THE BALL COMPLETLY!!

There is a few minute discussion with the ref by Coach Dunenzed who is arguing that since he missed the ball it was not a legal "kick" and they should get a re try. His argument falls on deaf ears and is almost ejected from the game.

Fourth up and the pressure is now mounting on the Sons is Will Bashya, he lines up for the kick, makes a run at it, it looks good but sundenly out of the sky a green lightning bolt cracks from the heavens, strikes the ball, the ball blows up into flames, flies off line, lands in the stands 15 rows up. The ball crashes into a fan and ignites him in green flame and then an explosion happens as his 180 proof moonshine bottle blows up and ignites 4 more fans.

Coach Dunenzed flies out of his dugout arguing that the Chaos Scumm did not have a wizard and thus the lightning bolt was cheating! Well, the ref pulls out his rule book and explains that rule 89.5.65.2.36 sub section 5.25 which refers to divine intervention is enforced. Which means the Sons are S.O.L.

Fith up and you can really see the Sons are crumbling under the pressure. Coach is so enraged at the ref that he did not see that Gore Gorger has decided to take matters into his own hands. The ogre walks up to the ball, lays a massive boot onto the ball, it sails high into the sky, so high in fact it is hard to see it, the ref covers his eyes from the sun glare trying to determine if the ball was good or not. He cannot tell it was kick so high and so far that he determined since the ball left the stadium and landing in the parking lot that it was NO GOOD!!

Coach Dunenzed throws up his arms in disgust, he is now throwing trash, equipment, water bottles and soiled bandages onto the field in rage.

And then a moment of inspiration or stupidity overcomes him in his rage. He pulls out his rules book, scans it to the OT rules real fast. It states that OT is after the current game and thus players that are MNG can kick in the OT period. He walks up to Kikken Urphace who was sitting out the match with a smashed knee and taps him on the shoulder. They need this goal to tie it up and force Over Time of the Over Time.

Kikken hobbles out onto the field, confident in his kicking skills to shine through. He lines up the kick, he makes 5 steps towards the ball, then sundenly he stumbles on a sprinkler head that mysteriously rose from the ground and started to spray water, his smashed knee gives out again and he falls to the ground, attempting a kick on the ball, his foot makes contact, the ball rises in a line drive right at the goal post. The fans come to their feet!!! The ball hits directly into the cross bar and bounces right back onto the field.

The stadium goes INSANE!!!!! Schnucken wins 2-1 in shoot outs!!!!!!!!!!!

The fans go into riot mode and soon after a pitch invasion takes place. After the dust settles 1 hour later there are 89 dead fans, 584 SI and 1984 BH. Coach Dunenzed goes into a frenzy DP rage on the refs and lays all three of them out into the SI-MNG bin. The Sons come to the coach rescue as he was cornered by a throng of slobbering chaos fans who looked like they where going to kill the coach.

Sons of Brutus DENIED!!!!!! Crushing defeat, so close for Humanities second Major's victory and first in the Box. The vomit taste of defeat will linger in the fans of Sons mouths for years, this was a gut wrenching loss.

Wow, just watched the replay, great game. After the Ogre catch in overtime the fans must have gone berserk. I opted for going to bed instead which was certainly the wise choice looking at the time it finished, but... wow. What is it with the CoS and penalty shootout?

Grats Ignaz! I was rooting for Humans but I'll settle for Germans. Laughing
