The XLVI Conference Representative Team has been announced:

Fáelan the Fleet (c) Dwarf Runner Redgum's Ruffians
Duffkop Grey Goose Orc Blitzer Intoxicated Mayhem
Limelight Slann Catcher Tribute to Alan Parsons
Hark "The Harpoon" Harkson Norse Catcher Wonga Wonga Whalekillers
Alfred Hitchcock Wood Elf Catcher Quotable Folks
"Ferociously Fighting" Pip Norse Blitzer Wonga Wonga Whalekillers
Chahkamnit Orc Blitzer Quod's Grunts
Bink Brother of Bonk Norse Lineman Wonga Wonga Whalekillers
Dean Douglas Minotaur Morte Volente
Pete Flesh Golem BBQers Rise Again
Máedóc the Bald Dwarf Blocker Redgum's Ruffians

Fáelan the Fleet has been named cptain of the Conference Representative Team after another season of 200+ Rushing. In 7 games Fáelan scored 9 touches, the most of any Conference player, caused a CAS and completed a pass. The season saw him take his career totals past 1000 rushing yards, past 40 TDs and past 150 SPP, making him the first player in the CRP era to achieve these milestones.

Duffkop played only 5 games but dominated the Conference divisions in Season XLVI. The 6 TDs and 6 CAS showcased his talents at the traditional role of an Orc Blitzer, but the 3 completed passes were icing on the cake. Strong, agile, and highly skilled Duffkop was an essential contributor to his team's promotion to Premier, and he looks ready to stake his claim as one of the greatest players of the CRP era.

Limelight averaged 1.5 passes per game in his 6 appearances, finishing the season with 9 completions and 40 throwing yards. Despite nursing an injury Limelight has showed the value of such a highly skilled and mobile player.

Hark Harkson played in all 7 games and despite coming into XLVI with very limited experience he showed his potential, finishing the season averaging a TD per appearance. His speed saw him rush for over 100 yards and even if he could be caught he proved very difficult to drag down.

Alfred Hitchcock played only 50 turns in 5 games this season, but when he was fit enough to take the field he showed what a devastating offensive weapon he could be. He finished with 6 TDs at an average of 1.2 and completed a pass. He is highly skilled and very strong, a combination that has opposition coaches scratching their heads for defensive cover.

Pip lived up to his nickname in Season XLVI with his 7 games and 52 blocks yielding 10 CAS, the most of any player in the SWL this season. Although slowed by injury Pip showed that once he had a grip on someone they were in serious trouble, several times he refused to let them be even after they had hit the dirt. Prone to Frenzy and highly aggressive his brutal blocking help make BloodBowl the game we love.

Chahkamnit was also a brutal blocker, and while he didn't do the volume of work that some others did he was impressively efficient. His 9 CAS from only 25 blocks showed that he didn't need many opportunities to make his opponents hurt.

Bink did not touch the ball this season, and in fact barely touched another standing player, finishing with only 5 blocks from 6 games at an average of less than 1. What he did well though was to lay the boot in when his opponent was vulnerable. 25 fouls, an average of more than 4 a game, was an amazing return from one of SWL's dirtiest and sneakiest players.

Dean Douglas is an awe-inspiring presence on the BloodBowl pitch. A stalwart of his team (in 7 games he missed only 6 turns) he threw an amazing 76 blocks at an average of nearly 11 per game. Despite the fragility of his fractured skull he still leads with impressive horns and sharpened hooves, goring his victims with prodigious strength and wrapping those who try to escape his rage in his un-natural tentacles. That he finished with 9 CAS for the season seems, ironically, a cause for relief in his opponents.

Pete is the only Representative of the Conference winning BBQers, but he did not miss a single turn of their 7 game season, usually right on the Line of Scrimmage. Pete is the classical immovable object, strong, stationary, hard to get down and always able to help out his team-mates around him.

Máedóc The Bald was a regular contributor to the close-in blocking battles of the Ruffians. Noted for his frequent decision to play helmet-less Máedóc stands out despite his short stature. He is a canny positional player, able to hold his ground against stronger foes and also to determine his opponents position with a well timed nudge or an unexpected shift of momentum.

Congratulations to all those selected to the Conference Representational Team! Stay tuned to Channel BB for the final announcement of the XLVI Season, the Premier League All-Stars.

The XLVI Premier League 'All-Stars' Team has been announced:

François Englert (c) Bull Centaur Large Head-on Colliders
Lus-ler-cith Skink Slumbering Skink
Rachel "The Ninja" Romano Dark Elf Assassin Blackwater Sting
Kaimandi of Quetza Slann Catcher Blue Green Envy
May Ghoul Ankle Grab United
Dan "Big Daddy Cool" Guido Dark Elf Blitzer Blackwater Sting
Tony Armstrong Dark Elf Blitzer Dark Swans
Scent Fear Zombie Ankle Grab United
C. Muon Solenoid Chaos Dwarf Blocker Large Head-on Colliders
Atlas Chaos Dwarf Blocker Large Head-on Colliders
SShrr Saurus Slumbering Skink

François Englert has been named captain of the All Stars team of XLVI after his seven appearances yielded over 100 rushing yards and 6 TDs. The agile Bull scored twice against Ankle Grab United and Blue Green Envy and his prolific scoring was a significant factor in his team's Premiership title.

Lus-ler-cith scored a league high 9TDs in seven games, featuring on the score-sheet of every game the Skinks played. He also completed a pass and accumulated 181 rushing yards. This was clearly a break-out season for the muscular skink. He scored more TDs and had more rushing yards in XLVI than in his previous three seasons combined.

Rachel "The Ninja" Romano showed this season that there's more to her role in the team than just a set of sharp knives. With 7 completed passes and a TD from only 75 turns in 6 games she has shown the value of her amazingly graceful and mobile gamestyle.

Kaimundi of Quetza played only 6 games in Season XLVI but finished with 5TDs. A hat-trick against the Blackwater Sting was a stand-out performance for an experienced and highly skilled campaigner. His completed pass against the Slumbering Skink was enough to bring up his hundredth SPP and elevate him to the rare mantle of a CRP Centurion.

May played in every game of the season but rarely was able to last through 16 turns. Her impressive pace and sheer offensive potency though was enough to see her collect 5TDs from 71 rushing yards and she did make an all-important interception against the dark Swans.

Dan Guido played in all 7 games for the Sting and finished the season with 7 TDs from 83 yards. Despite an early career characterised by long periods in the dug-out or on the bench Dan has worked incredibly hard at improving himself physically and has become a very damaging attacking option for his team. Rumours of performance enhancing potions and experimental muscle-grafting have plagued him throughout his career but there's no denying his efficacy on the field.

Tony Armstrong won the Rising Star award a few seasons ago, but it was arguably XLVI when the potential of the young Dark Elf became truly apparent. A brutal and mobile threat he finished with 8 CAS from 7 games and scored a TD. Armstrong is still relatively young, but is surely on the brink of stardom.

Scent Fear is a zombie who knows his role on the team. He is quick, more 28 Days Later than Dawn of the Dead, and he becomes truly dangerous when you are on the ground and he sets upon you. What crowd could forget his attempts to disembowel and consume his opponents? His stupid slavering jaws and his single-minded fixation on braaaiins? With 24 fouls from only 7 games, an average of over 3 per game, he made it very dangerous for his opponents to remain prone.

C. Muon Solenoid proved again why he is one of the most dangerous players of the CRP era. With 9 CAS from only 35 blocks he was ruthlessly efficient at harming his foes. His team's Premiership title was built in no small way on the ability Solenoid provided to work a numbers advantage as he saw all those who faced him dragged, bleeding, from the pitch.

Atlas was not as deadly as his fellow Blocker from the LHC, finishing with 'only' 5 CAS, he was a consistent presence in the title-winning team. With 112 turns on the pitch he spent more time in front of Premier League crowds than any other player in the league.

Sshrr played 6 games for the Slumbering Skink in XLVI before retiring. He finished with 8 for the season, including 3 vs Ankle Grab United. While injuries have brought a premature end to his career he leaves the game as a fan favourite among the loyal followers of the Skink. He may not be as quick as he once was, and he has lost the prodigious strength of his early career, he went out hitting hard and helping out on the Line of Scrimmage.

So that ends another awards post-season. Congratulations to all those named in the All-Stars Team, and in the other Representative Teams for Conference and Regional.

Season XLVII is already underway and a reshaped divisional structure seems to have created some tantalising match-ups for BloodBowl fans across the Southern Wastes.
That's all from us for now so we hope you enjoyed the teams as they were announced, we look forward to seeing you all again next season and until then... May the riots be many, may your rocks fly true, and may many a star be surfed into the crowd!

Time has come to announce the XLVII Regional 'Future Stars' Team:

Emily (c) Gutter Runner Psych Lab
Walter "Uncle Wally" Crawford Pestigor Bayshore Brawlers
Tatterdemalion Elf thrower Harlequins of Despair
David Davis Gutter Runner Greased Rats
la Mesnée d'Hellequin Elf Catcher Harlequins of Despair
Tomàs "The Rover" O'Martin Pestigor Bayshore Brawlers
Kevin Bacon Blitzer United States of Vanilla
Alliandre Zombie Urgathoa’s Children
Prometheus Beastman Public Service Announcement
Frankie Hollywood Flesh Golem Horrors of Skye
Kate Lineman Psych Lab

Emily has been named captain of the XLVII Future Stars after a stand-out season in the SWL.

Emily is an experienced campaigner, with seven seasons and over forty games to her name, but never before has she had a season like this. Fully half her career TDs and SPP came in Season XLVII. She amassed 10TDs, and a completion, including a record breaking 5TDs in the 6-6 draw vs the Iosan Destors. She also broke the record for most rushing yards in a single game, and most SPP earnt in a single game.

“Uncle Wally” played in every game, finishing with 6 TDs from over 180 rushing yards. He is an unusually quick beast and difficult to get down, meaning he is always a threat on offence. He is a strong favourite to collect the XLVII Sin-ler-fa Slipper.

Tatterdemalion played all 7 games and threw 11 complete passes. With a combined offensive contribution of 124 yards, and an average of 5.35 yards per pass he showed how an accurate pass could open up opposing defences and create scoring opportunities.
David Davis is a super-fast Gutter Runner who uses his talents judiciously. He doesn’t hold the ball for long, but when he does he is explosive. With 5 TDs from 7 games but only 31 rushing yards he demonstrated the value of always keeping open a scoring option.

la Mesnée d'Hellequin is one of the quickest and most agile players in Regional SWL. Like Davis he finished the season with 5 TDs from 7 games and only 31 Rushing Yards, but his short completion showed that he can share the ball around as well.

Tomàs "The Rover" O'Martin makes his second appearance on the Rising Star Rep Team. With 9 CAS and a TD from only 7 games it’s easy to see why. A brutal amalgamation of sharp claws, gouging horns and the evil will to continue attacking even when his opponent is down make O’Martin a very dangerous customer, and a favourite amongst the acolytes of Nurgle.

Kevin Bacon is a great all-rounder blitzing option, and the only representative of the Regional title winners. His 6 CAS and his TD from seven games went a long way to contributing to his team’s success.

Alliandre is a dirty minded zombie who has made a specialty of kicking the man while he’s down. Averaging a foul a game, and increasing three-fold his previous career tally of fouls, ensured that anyone who went to ground within range of him needed to be very fearful of the damage hob-nailed jackboots could achieve.

Prometheus is a known killer and a frequently brutal player. He uses both horns and claws to devastating effect, causing 7 CAS in his seven games including a game-winning 4 CAS vs the filler humans of To Baldly Go.

Frankie Hollywood was a stalwart on the line-of-scrimmage for the Horrors, where his ability to play through head-trauma and re-animate himself after grievous damage were very highly regarded. His 63 blocks from 7 games, at an average of 9 blocks a game, were crucial to his coach’s necromantic plans.

Kate is a deceptively tough player, often maligned as a fragile rat she has defied her critics by bulking up and taking it right to her opposition head-on. He runusual strength allowed her to hold her own and she played a remarkable 113 turns for the season.
Congratulations to all the regional Representatives.

Tune in to Channel BB shortly for a full run-down of the Conference Representative Team as we continue our build-up to that night of nights, the Premier League All-Star Team and Official SWL Awards dinner.

The XLVII Conference Representative Team has been announced:

Hark "The Harpoon" Harkson Catcher Wonga Wonga Whalekillers
Fáelan the Fleet (c) Runner Redgum's Ruffians
Limelight Catcher Tribute to Alan Parsons
May Be a Price to Pay Catcher Tribute to Alan Parsons
Food Catcher We are Ninjah
"Ferociously Fighting" Pip Blitzer Wonga Wonga Whalekillers
Loco Holmes Beastman Mort Volente
Bink Brother of Bonk Lineman Wonga Wonga Whalekillers
Dean Douglas Minotaur Mort Volente
Ricardoco Blocker Joking Jesters
Haerviu Hard-Headed Blocker Redgum's Ruffians

Fáelan the Fleet has again been named captain of the Conference Representative Team after another season of 168 Rushing Yards. In 7 games Fáelan averaged a score per game, caused a CAS and took an interception. It was a difficult start to the season, injury and unusually poor games restricting him to 1 TD and only 45 rushing from the first 4 games, but averaging 2 TDs and over 40 yards in each of the last three games, all Ruffians wins, showed why Fáelan has achieved such great heights throughout his career. He continues to extend SWL records, passing 50 TDs and 1300 Rushing Yards.

Hark Harkson has, for the second time in a short career, been selected to the representative team. Despite missing a game Hark finished with 8TDs and over 150 Rushing Yards. Already a swift runner and difficult to knock over Hark developed his ability to step right past opponents this season. Although Season XLVII contributed more than half of his 300+ Career Rushing Yards he showed he had more tricks up his sleeve than just running with both a CAS and a completed pass. He is definitely an exciting young player whose career is well-worth keeping a close eye on.

Limelight was, for the second time, selected to the rep team after leading the SWL for passing in Season XLVII, averaging over 2 completed passes per game. He collected 83 passing yards from 16 completions, at an average of over 5 yards per pass. He finished the season with a combined offensive contribution of 117 yards. Limelight is a very experienced competitor, having more than 50 career matches under his belt, and while he is slowing his game sense and ability to find a team-mate and set-up scoring opportunities is invaluable.

‘May Be a Price to Pay’ is the second of the Alan Parsons catchers to be selected to the rep team. His 8TDs from 7 games was an equal Conference high (with Hark), and equal third in the SWL. That he achieved the feat from only 54 rushing yards (an average of less than one move per score) shows just how skilled he was at finding an open place within range of the score and finishing off the Parsons’ attacking plays. He is also a valuable defensive threat, often leaping into dangerous situations, gathering hidden reserves of strength in blocking battles you would expect him to lose, and with a strong enough focus on the ball that he could jar it loose for his team-mates to collect.

Food is the first Ninjah to be selected to a rep team. In Season XLVII he averaged a TD a game, finishing with 7 in 7 from only 69 Rushing Yards. He has had a long career, and has for a few seasons been known for his turn of pace, but recent improvements in his sprinting technique have turned him into a truly top-class threat. His hat-trick in a magnificent 3-0 drubbing of the otherwise undefeated Ruffians was a season and career high-light.

Pip again lived up to his nickname and earnt his second call-up to the Rep Team in Season XLVII. Despite only 60 turns on the park in a mere 5 games Pip left an almighty impression on the Conferences. 13 CAS from 39 blocks, at an astounding average of a CAS every 3 blocks, made him the most dangerous player in the SWL. He finished the season on a career best 4 CAS game Vs the Ninjah, and despite slowing down and becoming more susceptible to injury its possible that Pip’s most ferocious days remain ahead of him.

Loco Holmes almost did to the Deadmen’s Conference what Pip did to the Duskrider’s. Like Pip he played only 5 games, and relatively few turns, but a dozen CAS from 46 blocks, averaging under 4 blocks per CAS, has seen him selected for the first time to the rep team. Despite being a little clumsy (even for a beastman), and prone to injury, Loco has crafted himself into an exceptional killer. It is his one focus on the field to hurt or to be hurt, and he does it with aplomb.

Bink has been selected for the rep team for the second time, based on a season even better than his last. He redoubled his ferocious fouling, laying the boots in an amazing 36 times in 6 games and 69 turns. That’s more than a foul every other turn! His 5 blocks did come at an average of less than 1 per game, but a man’s got to know his limitations, and Bink does. He carried the ball this season, briefly, but really the ball is a distraction. For this sneaky, dirty Norseman stomping heads will always be priority number one.

Dean Douglas is still an awe-inspiring presence on the BloodBowl pitch, and a worthy selection for his second rep team spot. After 6 games he had thrown 62 blocks, at an average of over 10 blocks per game, and caused 3 CAS. It was a quieter season than we are used to seeing from the bull-headed monster, but he continued to lead with his impressive horns and sharpened hooves. His prodigious strength and un-natural tentacles make him an invaluable road-block.

Ricardoco is the only representative from the newly promoted Jesters, but he was last season a member of the Regional Rising Stars, and so has made a smooth transition to the Conferences. Despite only 4 games, consisting of 65 turns in which he threw 40 blocks, Ric managed to inflict 9 CAS. His career-best maiming of the Dark Swans, in which he inflicted 5 CAS made his performance impossible to ignore. Tough and brutal, in the true fashion of Chaos Dwarfs, he’s a player that others fear to see opposite them on the LoS.

Haerviu Hard-Headed is a very experienced player, with over 50 games played. He has for the first time been selected to the rep team. He was a regular contributor to the close-in blocking battles of the Ruffians, spending an equal Conference high 111 turns on the pitch. In that time he threw only 25 blocks, but managed to inflict 4 CAS. He hits hard, protects his team-mates on the line, and can throw his opponents around in ways that open holes where they need opening and close them when they need closing.

Congratulations to all those selected to the Conference Representational Team! Stay tuned to Channel BB for the final announcement of the XLVII Season, the Premier League All-Stars.

The XLVII Premier League 'All-Stars' Team has been announced:

Duffkop Grey Goose (c) Blitzer Intoxicated Mayhem
Lus-ler-cith Skink Slumbering Skink
François Englert Bull Centaur Large Head-on Colliders
Imhullu II Thrower Quod’s Grunts
Bollos Billington Catcher Woodies Double Inc.
Robert Brout Bull Centaur Large Head-on Colliders
Mandy Wight BBQers Rise Again
Marukku Lineman Quod’s Grunts
Alice Blocker Large Head-on Colliders
Swansong for a Raven Mummy Ankle Grab United
Nick Flesh Golem BBQers Rise Again

Duffkop Grey Goose last season represented the Conferences. This season a fantastic season in Premier has seen him named captain of the XLVII All Stars team. A consummate all-rounder, The Goose is as strong as a Black Orc, but moves like an elf (in the orciest possible way). 5 TDs and 4 CAS from 7 games saw him push past the 150 SPP barrier and become the second biggest star of the CRP era. .

Lus-ler-cith was the sharp point of the Skinks’ attack in Season XLVII, and earnt his second consecutive All-Star spot. His 10 TDs was the equal highest in the SWL this season, and the equal-second highest of the CRP era (behind a filler). With 177 yards he topped the Premier rushing this season, more than 50 yards ahead of his nearest opponent. Most impressively (for a skink) he played every game, more than 100 turns, and even caused a CAS. Strong and fast, he’s a potent attacking weapon and a committed tackler in defence.

François Englert is a much different type of ball carrier to Lus-ler-cith, but he is brutally effective. Averaging a TD a game from 7 games, and with over 120 rushing yards the big bull thoroughly earnt his second consecutive All-Star spot. Like Grey Goose he pushed past the 150 SPP mark this season, and scored his 40th TD, making him the second highest scorer of the CRP era.

Imhullu II earns his first All-Star call-up on the back of a full season in which he threw 7 passes (An average of one a game). In a rock-heavy Premier season it was the Orcs who brought the best passing games, but although his Intoxicated counter-part threw more completions, Imhullu’s strong arm, and astounding average of over 8 yards per pass, set him apart. Consider a combined offensive ouput in excess of 100 yards, a TD, and even a willingness to throw the boots into a fallen opponent, and Imhullu demonstrates his nasty-minded versatility.

Bollos Billington is the perfect player to have on the end of Imhullu’s passes. Fast and brave, with a tricky side-step he scored 4 TDs from his seven games, completed a pass and took an interception. His relatively high output from only 46 rushing yards show that he is always focussed on the score.

Robert Brout makes it 2 from 2 for the LHC bulls in Season XLVII. Often seen as second fiddle to Englert this was the season that Brout stepped out on his own, and in emphatic style. Rather than trying to match his team-mate’s scoring flair he has become a dedicated killer, and a scarily effective one. From 7 games, and only 58 blocks Brout caused 10 CAS, including a career-high 4 against the BBQers. His strength, his punishing blows, and the mad frenzy with which he attacks opponents make him a most dangerous player.

Mandy played all seven games of the XLVII season, but often missed turns. When she was on the field she made her presence felt. Agile, and yet with the determination to drag down and hurt opponents, Mandy finished the season with 5 Casualties from only 31 blocks, a TD and a completion. Dangerous with the ball and deadly without it, she earns her first call-up to the All Stars.

Marukku was awarded his selection posthumously (amid claims from XLVI All Star Scent Fear that it was his death swayed the judges). It is undeniable though that Marukku was, in his day, one of SWL’s sneakiest and dirtiest players. Seeing how he quickened his pace in the run-up to dropping a vicious, underhanded booting was one of the highlights of the season for Grunt fans, and that should be recognised. Averaging more than 2 fouls per game through the season Marukku’s karma finally came back to haunt him in the team’s final game, a bloody war of attrition against the LHC. Marukku paid with his life, and he is here honoured, in all his filthy, cheap, nasty glory.

Alice replaces her team-mate from the LoS on the XLVII All-Star team. She is an experienced campaigner in CRP era SWL, having endured potentially career-ending injuries and returning, again and again, to exact her revenge on anyone unfortunate to stand against her. Deformed by horns and claws, driven to a wild frenzy by the dark influences of chaos, she is a brutal force in the middle of any LHC game. 6 games, averaging a CAS per game, and behind only injured team-mate Solenoid on the CRP era career casualties count, Alice is a welcome addition to any line of scrimmage.

Swansong for a Raven earns her first All-Star selection. A foundation member of Ankle Grab she is a surprisingly quick mass of corpse and embalmment, but lacks none of the strength. Her 63 blocks, at an average of 9 per game, was the most in the Premier Division. Strangely, her hard work went largely unrewarded, until she inflicted 3 casualties, her season total, on the Intoxicated Mayhem.

Nick rounds out the XLVII All-Stars with another solid and dependable presence on the LoS. This is his first call-up and due reward for his equal Premier high 122 turns on the park. He finished with omnly 1 CAS from 30 blocks, and an unlikely interception, but it’s his ability to be a reliable contributor, game after game, turn after turn, regardless of the scoreline, that makes him the sort of player any coach would enjoy having on their team.

So that ends another awards post-season. Congratulations to all those named in the All-Stars Team, and in the Representative Teams and the Future Stars. Some controversial moments, no Dark Elfs rewarded despite their terams’ dominance, Scent Fear missing out on a second consecutive selection, François Englert losing the All-Star captaincy to a new-comer. Speak, howl, screech, complain... do as you will, but all those who missed out on glory should remember – there’s always next season!

Iosan Destors Head Coach Chunkyan has released a statement deploring the exclusion of star Thrower Esyllt from the Future Stars team. The selection panel will be sure to look like complete fools next season when Esyllt dominates, making this Tatterdemalion look pedestrian by comparison.

He is quoted as saying "I could point out that Esyllt threw more completions in only 4 games than Tatterdemalion did in 7, but I am far too refined to cast such aspersions on the judgment of the such an august body. I trust that a full investigation of the Harlequins dealings would never uncover any sort of underhanded activities - they are obviously a high class outfit befitting their provincial heritage."

Waves of dejected crippled blood bowl veterans were seen exiting the Quotable Folks stadium for the last time, as a mass cutting took place after a disastrous season XLVII crippled many members of the team.

Meanwhile, two fresh linemen have been hired. When inquired about this, Head Coach Enigma is quoted as saying "We want to have a solid core before we start building up our big stars again, and then maybe we can go for a third run at getting into the Premier League".

Despite a poor performance overall last season, the Folks remain in the conferences, and are hoping for the change in direction to lead to better results.

Candlelight gleamed, reflected a thousand-fold upon sequined burial-wrappings and glittered bone. Goblets were raised high in salute, filled with ritual wine in celebration of the first win for the Sphinxes (from Mars).

Taking a break from the stage (where he was delighting the shambling crowds with smooth renditions of 'Starghoul' 'Jean Djinni' and the perennial favourite, 'Diamond Ushabti'), Mr. Gravedust spoke with this favoured reporter.
Mention was made of the sterling performance of Mr. Enslash, who provided almost an entire half of virtuoso fouling; of the heroic efforts of Starman, who almost couldn't fail to scoop up the ball despite the muddy conditions. Above all though, Ziggy mockingly 'praised' the skills of the Destors. "Prancing, posing, taking my players down with fancy moves better left to the squared circle... all this was meaningless when faced with the almighty Boot!"

Time has come to announce the XLVIII Regional 'Future Stars' Team:

Death Jack (c) Minotaur Lords of Toruk
Renee Rivkin’s Driver Thrower Fraud Squad
Tatterdemalion Thrower Harlequins of Despair
David Davis Gutter Runner Greased Rats
Abbott of Unreason Catcher Harlequins of Despair
Alessandra Ambrosio Blitzer LVSA
Heathen Blitz-ra Sphinxes from Mars
Laughing Gnome Skeleton Sphinxes from Mars
William Hague Gutter Runner Greased Rats
Scaverous Chaos Warrior Lords of Toruk
Halloween Jack Tomb Guardian Sphinxes from Mars

Death Jack has controversially been named captain of the XLVII Future Stars after another stand-out season in the SWL. Despite the protests that a Wild Animal could not be trusted with the captaincy the selection panel considered that as this team was honorary, and thus would never play, that Death Jack should be awarded the captaincy. He was a constant source of fear for Toruk’s opponents, twice this season inflicting hat-tricks of CAS and also showing that he is capable of scoring with a TD against the Greased Rats. Despite receiving a serious injury in his final game there’s no denying that this clawed, tentacle, horned juggernaut of rage is an imposing figure.

Renee Rivkin’s Driver was the clear stand-out in an otherwise difficult season for the Fraud Squad. A talented ball-user, he was able to accumulate 120 rushing yards and 2 TDs as well as 3 completions despite the animosity he sometimes felt for the little green-skins he had to play along-side.

Tatterdemalion achieves his place in the Rising Stars Team for the second season in a row. Perhaps the criticism of his first selection (which lead to Iosan Destors Head Coach Chunky claiming that “The selection panel will be sure to look like complete fools next season when Esyllt dominates, making this Tatterdemalion look pedestrian by comparison”) spurred him to even greater feats of skill. With a combined offensive contribution of 161 yards, including 83 from an amazing 17 completions from 7 games he was integral to the Harlequins’ title-winning season. His four completions and 22 passing yards in the narrow 4-3 win over the Fraud Squad was one of the best performances seen in Regionals this season.

David Davis also achieves the honour of being a Rising Star for the second time. Super-fast, and able to keep his feet when others might go to ground, Davis was the surgical blade at the cutting edge of the Greased Rats’ offence. A hat-trick in the 4-0 drubbing of LVSA accounted for half of his season tally 6 TDs, only one behind the league’s top scorers.

Abbott of Unreason had played a consistent season, scoring regularly on a winning team, but no one had him in the frame for a Rising Star place until the final game, when the Harlequins put an emphatic exclamation point on their title with a 4-1 smashing of fellow contenders Iosan Destors. The Abbott scored a hat-trick that day, his second hat-trick of his career and both against the same opponent. It’s no wonder that Iosan coach Chunky was seen cursing the Abbott after the match
Alessandra Amrbosio has had such an impressive rookie season that she stands comfortably in the company of this Rising Star team. It certainly cannot be said that she wasn’t active, playing over 100 turns in her 7 games and throwing a Regionals-high 74 blocks. She was effective too, inflicting 5 CAS. She hits, and she hits hard.

Heathen did not survive the season, but at the time of his death he was the biggest star on the Sphinxes’ roster and well known as a dangerous player. His 6 CAS this season, including doubles against the Fraud Squad and the Harlequins were a crucial part of the Sphinx game-plan and his absence will be sorely felt. They are a young team, and will rebuild, but Heathen will be remembered for his contributions to their earliest successes.

Laughing Gnome is a rookie skeleton devoted, single-mindedly to the dirtiest aspect of the game. After an unremarkable first few games during last season it quickly became clear that the Gnome had precious few talents for blocking, ball-handling, or near anything else required to be useful on a Blood-bowl pitch, coach Luohghcra’s solution, teach the lad to lay the boots in, and did he ever. Gnome dropped 8 fouls, at an average of more than one a game, and made the most of any exposed, fallen opponent’s weak-spot.

William Hague has two-heads, sure hands, and a star on the rise. He demonstrated this season that he had a wide range of skills and could contribute to the team’s success in a range of ways. Each game he played just added to his stardom, with media and fan attention sometimes overwhelming. He scored consistently early in the season, racking up 7 TDs and in the latter games turned selfless provider, dishing off 3 completions. Watch this space, because we’re predicting that Season XLIX will only bring more developments in Hague’s game an fame.

Scaverous achieved something special this season, proving himself to be even more dangerous than his team-mate, and Rising Star Captain, Death Jack. Despite repeated Serious Injuries, including twice fracturing his skull, Scaverous keeps returning the most dangerous and bloody battles on the field, and often prevailing. 10 CAS in the season (a regionals-high tally) is testament to the sharp claws he has grown and his willingness to continue his attack even on the ground.
Halloween Jack rounds out the squad, a third representative from the Sphinxes, showing that the team – having finished in the bottom half of the table – is probably over-represented in the awards. Accusations of bias or bribery are of course muted, and the selection panel need only point to Halloween’s 112 turns, almost all on the Line of Scrimmage, show his value. Every team needs a big body to absorb the hits, and few did it better than Halloween, and his 3 CAS also show that he can dish the hits out in return.

Congratulations to all the regional Representatives.

Tune in to Channel BB shortly for a full run-down of the Conference Representative Team as we continue our build-up to that night of nights, the Premier League All-Star Team and Official SWL Awards dinner.

The XLVIII Conference Representative Team has been announced:

Fáelan the Fleet (c) Runner Redgum's Ruffians
Night Patrol Beastman Public Service Announcement
Imhullu II Thrower Quod’s Grunts
Chahkamnit II Blitzer Quod’s Grunts
Emily Gutter Runner Psych Lab
Loco Holmes Beastman Mort Volente
Jack Flash Blitzer Electric Boogaloo
Steel Graves Beastman Mort Volente
Kate Lineman Psych Lab
Citadel Chaos Warrior Public Service Announcement
Zombie Contortionist Marauder Cirque Du Zuvassin

Fáelan the Fleet has been named captain of the Conference Representative Team for the third consecutive time. The biggest name in the SWL finished with 229 rushing yards (a personal and SWL record for single-season rushing) and 9 TDs (the equal highest single-season tally), in a season which some pundits are saying was the best of his career. Fáelan improved his game by incorporating completions, inflicting a CAS, and demonstrating his durability by playing every tun of the Ruffians’ season. He continues to extend SWL records, passing 60 TDs and 1500 Rushing Yards.

Night Patrol is a beast of surprising agility, able to carry the ball and skip away from tackles with a dexterity the match of most elfs, even bringing to life the normally dormant Chaos passing game on a couple of occasions during the match against Urgaroth’s Children. This season Night Patrol joined the rarified group of players who have rushed for more than 200 yards in a season, and scored 8 TDs in the process. His pair against the frogs from Tribute was enough to single-handedly ensure a draw in that match alone.

Imhullu II, member of the XLVII All-Stars, is the sort of player you build a team around, even a game-plan. Agile, sure-handed, strong-armed, many times this season he has stepped forward from a position deep in the Grunts’ defensive backfield and opened up the game with a huge pass. 14 completions from 7 games, including games of 3 completions against both the Ninjahs and the Tribute made for an impressive set of numbers already, but when you consider that these completions accumulated 135 yards (an average of over 9.5 yards per pass) the value of Imhullu II’s arm is obvious.

Chahkamnit II is quickly showing that he can live up to his famous predecessor and name-sake. Still a young player he has used his remarkable speed and heavy-hitting to make a rapid improvement in his game. This season’s return of 9 TDs, equal league high, (including doubles against the Tribute, the Children and the Ninjah) from only 64 rushing yards show how effectively he and his team-mate Imhullu II connected as a powerful attacking tandem.

Emily was Captain of the XLVII Future Stars, and is everything you would hope a Gutter Runner could be: sharp, fast and nearly impossible to stop. Her tally of 8TDs from the season, included an astounding haul of 5 in the 6-4 defeat of Fur Train, the second time Emily has achieved a 5 TD game. Her fearsome speed, capable of taking her from the line-of-scrimmage to the endzone in as much time as it takes some players to merely react, have ensured that Psych Lab have a constant threat of scoring.

Loco Holmes has again been selected to the Conference Rep Team. With 14 CAS, far and away the most in his Conference, his presence in this team is beyond debate. He’s not a young player any more, and years of battling in the trenches have taken their toll. Loco complains regularly of accumulated injuries, a niggle here, the remaining fragility of his fractured skull, etc... but when the time comes for someone to stand-up for their team and really break his opponents it’s hard to go past Loco for the job. His contributions this season are in no small way a cause of his team’s title-winning success.

Jack Flash is the number one frog and the biggest star in the conference winning Boogaloo team. He’s not as quick as he once was, but he’s as brutal as he’s ever been and this season was his bloodiest. Twice Jack inflicted 5 CAS in a game this season, and while killing or seriously injuring wood-elfs is easy enough, to take out 5 of Quod’s greenskins is a mighty effort. He may not have run the scores home, but he sure made it possible for his team-mates to post those big wins that see his team now through to Prem.

Steel Graves has long been known for his ability to take out a player with a well-timed boot, or a stomp at just the right moment, but this season he expanded his repertoire, scoring 2 TDs in the 2-0 defeat of the Intoxicated Mayhem. It’s hard to deny though that he does love fouling. He uses his pace to good effect, spying a vulnerable player on the dirt and sprinting across to stomp or him with cloven hooves. Steel’s 19 fouls for the season included 5 undetected against the Bayshore Brawlers.

Kate made the transition from Regionals (where she featured as a ‘Future Star’ in Season XLVII) to Conference with aplomb, and many pundits are tipping her for a major role in Psych Lab’s tilt at the Prem title. She’s been a strong rat for some time, but her increased attention to how she can best use that strength, and more recently the fury that she channels into her play, have seen her game improve to new levels. In her conference her CAS count was second only to Loco Holmes, a particularly impressive achievement given how lightly armoured she is. She also showed her versatility, taking the ball across for a score in the 2-2 draw with Mort Volente.

Citadel is an impressive addition to any line of scrimmage, strong, tough, and committed to raking his claws across as many of his foes as possible. With 71 blocks, an average of more than 10 per game, he has stood toe-to-toe with a great many players, and usually finished off the better for it. Given that no Big Guys stood out this season at conference level Citadel comes into the rep team as an able replacement, capable of proving himself a painful roadblock to any who try to come past him.

Zombie Contortionist is a resilient player, not particularly skilled, and in many ways still learning the game, but undeniably stubborn and tough. He took the field for an amazing 118 turns this season, meeting all challenges and all foes without ever calling for the aid of the apoth or being carried back to his dug-out. An old injury still troubles him, and he can’t handle the ball or dodge tacklers like he once did, but if anything his persistence in the face of adversity only make him more a fan favourite.

Congratulations to all those selected to the Conference Representational Team! Stay tuned to Channel BB for the final announcement of the XLVIII Season, the Premier League All-Stars.
