Probably already mentioned above, but baseball cap with a 'C' on it could be both universal and clear symbol.

And crossed out when sent off.

edit: cant make gfx at the moment though

I will say despite spending some time making it, I'm not really a fan of it - it's very modern and tech-y, and not very "blood bowl" (although that might not really matter for a client icon), but also if I saw headphones and a banned symbol or red x pop up, as a new coach or being unfamiliar with the new rules, I'd first assume I had a sound issue.

All good points. I tried it too and you're right.

The image I immediately pictured was a coach and a ref in each others' faces, ie sideview of goblin in black hat on one side, dwarf coach sideview on the other. But this doesn't represent ejection so much.

How bout an outstretched thumb with whistle hanging around the wrist?

Is it possible that people will think more of the Ref instead of the Coach if you use a whistle?

Possibly. Pictograms need to have clear meaning.

Yeah, exactly something like that. The wizard has a hat - the coach has a hat. Makes sense?

I like the caps, actually. I'd associate the whistle more with the ref.

The caps are awesome. I like the home and away colours on them too. Well done AD!

And well done Matt for first voicing the concept of a baseball cap.

- Exactly, using the baseball cap is consistent with the Wizard's hat icon.

About the headset icon. I agree that the headset icon with a red X on it might be misleading and make new people think they have a client audio issue.
For that reason I suggested to include the baseball cap in the icon but I understand that headset + baseball cap would make the small icon messy.

- Well done ArrestedDevelopment! I'd make the red cap a little more bright.

- Thanks for support ramchop Very Happy .

Probably impossible, but what about importing the coach's icon - as in the actual one in their profile pic - and then putting a X through it once they are sent off?

Not all coaches have a picture, and not all coaches might want to show their face.

In these cases the default Question Mark or the baseball cap could be shown.

But this is more a problem of site/client integration = extra work. But I like the idea in itself. We discussed the same thing in #metabox earlier. I think mrt1212 suggested it too? (its x-mas, im giving out props today, and to dakka for hat).
