Yes. You have to unzip it ... then download the latest patch and unzip the content of that into the folder where you put the main program in.

Read the "get started" info in the help section if you didn't, yet. The quickest way to get help is by joining the irc channel btw (click on "chat" in the top menu).

k thanx Mnemon,
i have unzipped it but i cant get into chat. i havent got an irc thingy yet, is it absoluely needed? the only irc program i have seen so far is one called Mirc but u have to pay for that. i have tried getting into chat using the java link thing but it loads up and then nothing happens. it lets me click all of the buttons like disconect, channel and nickname but nothing happens.
What next?!?!?!?!?
thanx again

No, an IRC program is not _needed_ but you'll have a hard time finding games without it. Besides, most IRC clients are much more comfortable than the java one. Mirc is free for the first 30 days after that you are asked to pay, correct. There are other free irc programms though - I don't know which ones are that good, but I can point you to some options.

One is pirch for example. If you prefer to have an ICQ alike application try trillian (pro version is not free, regular one is) or Miranada IM (requires you to install an additional IRC plugin though ... nice application but requires time to set up for what you want)

Maybe somebody else can point you to other alternatives.

Regarding the JavaChat not working ... no idea. Are you behind some firewall?
