We are not currently in need of a coach, but would love to hear from anyone interested in being in next season or dropping in if we lose one.
The Southern Survivalists League is coming up to new season start, kicking off on the 21st of March (at the latest), which is just a couple weeks away now, and we need a couple of new players to take over teams.
We have a fairly gentle season of five "10-day" rounds, with due dates as follows
Round 1: 1st April
Round 2: 11th April
Round 3: 21st April
Round 4: 1st May
Round 5: 11th May
Finals: 21st May
There's four random pools of six teams, retaining last season's pool winner, all steadily accumulating a wonderful variety of injuries due to our fine rule of NO PLAYER RETIREMENTS, and some unique player options on top of that thanks to MUST TAKE ALL STATS. My -ag Vamp would just love to roll +ag and get back off line duty, after all.
There's a maddening spiked ball in play at all times, dirty tricks abound, foulers are legendarily powerful, and POMBers have not been seen yet so nerfed do they feel. Stunty teams get all sorts of freebies, Right Stuff hard to tackle, Sneaky Gits gone mad, and the regular stars pity them. Check out the rules tab on the group page for the full details.

NONE, we got the lot in the end. New Frogs, Chorfs, Undead, Lizards, and Orcs. Enjoy!

If you're keen, the timezone isn't a problem (server +8 in the southern winters, but we have coaches from far and wide who can play our evenings) then get on it.

Updating a little, for a change we're going with no rule changes for Season Eight.
A few were discussed, always happy to hear suggestions, thanks to those who made them this season, we might wait for the new client to finish up before changing much else, which will mean rules stable for a few more seasons yet. We also await the ability to import our existing teams into a custom ruleset, for some customised star players and easier administration in general. Love what we have, of course, the SSL is very cool. 
22 of our current coaches are keen to stay on, we may have our 2 new coaches already, but if you're happy for being dropped in if someone drops out, or just on our wait list for Season 9, names are always appreciated. |

Oh, and the daylight savings change coming up. We are server +10 hours, Europe moves Mar 26th putting us server +9 in round one, Oz moves Apr 2nd putting us server +8 for round two.
Server +8 is no easier to figure out for Northern coaches, but 1200 server is 8pm Sydney.
We are down to 21 coaches staying on, still waiting to hear from some possible recruits, so drop a message here or PM the admins to join up. As far as I can tell, we still need 3 coaches. Teams in the draw, please see the first post in red.  |

Can the flings be given some nice bloaty teams please? Thank you.
This season we were lumped with hardly any inducemenys and the one time we had them was against human bullies who had far too much dodge. |

Our old undead coach is back, so just Lizards and Chorfs in the draw now. Still looking to kick off on the 21st at the latest.
That's one more big team for you, with any luck, Daudy. But as always, the pools are the concern of Nuffle and not anything we admins can do about that.

First time in 8 seasons that the ECB ladies have left the Blasted Plains, as we were meant to be on tour I guess we had to leave sometime. Not sure we like the ambience in Whipsundays though, those men in horny helmets look a bit uncouth. |

Kicked off!
Filler 3 in Red Mountains will be replaced with Semitence.
Filler 2 in Paintree Rainforest will be new Chorfs.
Filler in Paintree Rainforest will be replaced with tussock.
Looks like we're two days late with this, so we'll try to catch up as soon as we can, most coaches having had a bit of a break there hopefully things get going.
Having said that, the Australasian Team Champs are on, and a few people are not at home, so we'll all sort out what we can. Cheers everyone, best of luck.

Do not retire any player for any reason, the only way out ... is death!
Wizards do not exist because we can't migrate to a custom league to turn them on yet. Piling On would use a team RR in addition to our custom nerfs, but no one has any.
Odds are big treasuries will hit Expensive Mistakes in the reasonably near future, so try to spend up gradually through the season on inducements (as the bigger team, preferably, we have the old LRB6 rule where it helps both sides still and the underdog's cash does nothing unless bigger than the gap). Should it turn up, you can keep anything under 300k pretty safely, under 200k very safely. |

Typical draw. I get the big bloaty teams only when wizards are gone. Pretty much can't do anything against blodge except roll pows as flings, so that will have to do! |

Just remember those Zons are all AV 7 or less, it's very easy to break armour on the fouls when you do get one down.
Edited the above posts because DST confuses me. SSL is moving to server +9 tomorrow, and will be server +8 in a week. Sorry for any difficulties caused there, the scheduler time function on your homepage for scheduled games will always let you see the time in your local time to check.

Bump. Heyhey, SSL is on, round one should be clearing despite the Australasian Team Champs on over the weekend, thank you everyone.
Hey if you can play about now or for the next good few hours (timestamp!), we are still recruiting. Chorfs at least and looks like our Frog coach has lost his internet. Sound good? PM Jevouse! Or say here, someone should notice and tell a group admin, and we'll slot you in. It's good fun, and surprisingly hard to end up with more than 8 perms on a team.
No one likes byes, come on in, the water boils so slowly you won't even notice. |
