He played one game with goblins against vamps that stacked all their skills on the vampires. Not like that was super-duper rare before as the thralls tend to not be great SPP magnets anyway.

The other game he got torn to shreds by a St5 goat (or so he seems to think) while the real issue is that he had amazons and the other guy had loads of tackle/MB.

So in summary we have someone who blames a small change in the rules for his own rustiness and getting picked and then throws a hissyfit about it.

This is all true - but also we should probably make more of an effort to welcome returning players back and give them a reason to keep coming back.

It's about minmax. In his view d3 mvp makes that easier, and thus it is terrible.

We know. We've heard it all before.

He didn't check the opposing teams before accepting the match. He took obviously bad matchups and took a beating.

These were ranked games. He didn't have to play either of them.

D3 also helps you get skills on your difficult to skill players and grunt linos.

It is great for less prolific coaches as team building will be less frustrating.

Now whether he actually played anyone who was minmaxing is another kettle of fish since everyone appears to have their own definition of it.

Read the match comments if you want a right good laugh.

He's complaining about an all-lino team... 12 beastmen, 3 of which are rookies. Such min/maxing. Definitely not Blood Bowl in any way shape or form.

The funniest thing is that Che Animal was ST5 before the d3 MVP came along. Smile

Sometimes, coaching style matters. That also must be read between the lines, I guess.

Easy to min-max with 12 goats, BTW.

Pros with the random rule: Agile teams had an advantage since they, especially elfs, could spread out the spps and get more levels out of the d16-luck.

But for a team like Ogres (or Vamps etc.) it is a game changer with the new ones. No more MVPs to snots actually means you could build a team for once!

I mean, yeah, you certainly can. There's nothing especially min-maxy about it though. You get Horns for 10k on your best players but you also have to pay 10k for Horns on your worst players that you won't get any use out of. Efficiencywise it's kind of a wash.

But beyond that, he's not afraid to spread SPP around and he's never fired any healthy players from that squad. So complaining about it being a min-max monstrosity is a bit of a stretch.

Then it's more something like sweet spotting, which some consider in a similar fashion as min-maxing. Pure min-maxing is more of a B thing anyway, since it does sacrifice some efficiency. This lack isn't much of an issue when paired with a team that is not experienced enough to exploit it.

As always, it's the feeling of powerlessness that matters here, not how we define our in-house concepts.

Yep, Obviously.
Truth is harsh..

But you wount get any love from me by making stupid rants, then running away after, not coming back to read any comments. look at his matches, its been a year since he played much, and he comes here makes some angry rants about things, total clueless. hes gone, best forget him.

If you’re going to say that team is sweetspotting you may as well ban team building. What it is is a theme team that was lucky enough to roll +str twice on the same player.

I suppose he could have turned it down, but then he’d be minmaxing..... Wink

Amateurs rock, man. Everybody should run an Amateurs squad. Hire all Journeymen if they don't suffer a permanent injury, and don't hire anybody else.

Chaos are some of the best Amateurs: GSM access is huge. If you want a challenge, play Humans. Or even better, Orcs, Skaven, or Hobgoblins.

If I am not mistaken didn't the rules at 1 time allow you to flat out PICK who go the MVP after every game? In other words 1 d1 MVP. 1 d3 MVP is an improvement over that.
And it is better than suffering through a BEAT DOWN only to have your MVP go to the guy RIP'd on Turn 1 or a Loner, Hireling or Makeweight.

Honestly... being able to stick some free SPPS on a few players SHOULD help us all to realize the types of teams we each have always wanted to build. The only impediment being the random luck of rolling DOUBLES and STATS etc.

The d3MVP opens the door to some new types of cheese... sure. But for most people cheese means WINS for the other guy and losses for me. So... deal with it. You aren't as good at making your cheese as coach Velveeta is at making his cheese-like foodstuffs.

What sweetspotting? Again, at no point has this team fired a healthy player; its development is 100% natural.

I mean, I can sympathize with the feeling of powerlessness. It really sucks when the game turns against you and you're reduced to clicking end turn over and over again and wondering who's going to get fouled this turn. It's honestly kind of a crappy feature for such a time-intensive game to have and it's understandable if it's not your cup of tea. But trying to pin a bad game on the new ruleset is, at best, misguided (verging on insane when you consider that he's suggesting that he would have been better off playing the same team with random MVPs and clawpomb.) Going further and calling your opponent a "poopsactchel" [sic] because they had the gall to roll +ST twice definitely lacks a certain dignity, as well.
