(this is going to sound UBER NOOB by the way-)

hi- well from the short time i have been playing BB i can see that you are always going to want the highest possible success rate when you are carrying out any move-

but when you do any kind of agility related roll, i know the rules say "an unmodified roll of 1 always fails etc........) but cant any skill/ag combination beat this-

so if you carry out a quick pass with an AG4 player with the acurate skill and roll a "1" would it be a fail or a success? becuase the accurate skill and the "quick pass" +1 modifier should get it up to the needed 3..............i dont quite understand the rule quote above.

what about if you manage to get an AG6 player? does he fail even on a 1?

And off topic: would i be right in saying that no high elf players can ever get a Strength trait (such as stand firm)?

Thankyou!

All skills an AG bonuses are modifications.

Get a double on your skill roll and you can pick from ANY skill category (except the chaos type mutation ones if youre an elf!)

actually, ag bonuses are not modifications to the roll, but modifications to the target.

btw, about the OT question: players can never choose traits from skill/trait categories they can't takes skills from on normal rolls, even on doubles. Thus players without normal access to strength skills (ie all elves) can never get stand firm.

The only way to get stand firm for the high elf is: getting killed by a beast of nurgle and becoming infected with the rot. Thus he becomes a rotter and can gain the strength trait when he gets a double on a skill roll.

I suggest you to read the Living RuleBook.
You should. Really. Smile

Any "skill" category is the important bit. You are right that elves can't get strength traits.

An easier reading of the above rule is a roll of 1 will always fail a roll of 6 will always succeed. The latter is how mummies can make interceptions (which should require an roll of 8+ off 1d6 given the -2 modifier).

But even with Ag 6 a 1 will fail? even tho ag 6 denotes an unmodified 1+ roll is needed?

and so an ag bonus doesnt count as a mod? err- what do you considor an ag bonus?

No-matter-what-your-skills-or-stats-are, 1s always fail and 6s always succeed.

AG6 means you can dodge into two tackle zones with a 2+ roll.

and finally- may i ask why people want ag5 for a leap player? is it just too risky with ag4?

Agility 4 is good for leap. Squig Hoppers have to leap with AG3 where the chance of success is only 50%.

Ag5 = Leap on 2+
Ag4 = Leap on 3+

Is this enough of a reason? Smile
