The World's Edge Mountains Monumental Tournament is up and running!

Using a cauldron of thirty eight etched troll skulls the draw for the opening round of the tournamnet was completed today by the Dwarven slayer hosts. The draw was attended by a number of coaches from the many races represented in the tournament, each eagerly waiting to see who their first opponents would be.

As always Grudge League reporter Emmerich Edelhertz was at hand to interview some of the team coaches and gather their reaction to the draw (interviews to follow once they have been translated into common tongue).

This is the thread for the World's Edge Mountains Monumental Tournament for the Grudge League group.
Use this thread to add any World's Edge tournament match reports/team fluff.

Matchup and redlines for the tournament have been posted in the group page.

Out of curiousity, is there a reason my team was not in this tourney? I told Karhumies in person about it as he was adding names to his list... and instead there's a filler team... what gives?

I mean, if you don't want me in the league, all you have to do is ask.

That's right! Kislev open Championships KO will be kicking off 1st or 2nd July with a round of random Swiss. Teams attending Kislev are TR 200 or under, whilst as World's Edge tourney teams are all Tr 125 or under. The smallest fishies got away from being trampled but there are still some brave gobos attending Kislev open! Very Happy

Aha! Sorry, was a little confused... Duhh... Me stooopid.

By the way, the Rotter team isn't on the Racial similarity chart, though I assume it fits in right next to Chaos.

We just got ourselves a colorful group logo made by habeli. Check it out!

As for anyone wondering about habeli's really strange team: habeli got a special permission from the group staff to make a fling team into stunty. Therefore habeli is unable to eat more than one of the opponents' re-rolls by purchasing ingredients (ingredients are normally allowed for Fling teams) and unable to hire Deeproot Strongbranch but instead of this, habeli can hire his own, custom made superstar halfling: Sappe "Iron Chef" Butterbear!

habeli designed this star player after winning Wanna Be a Stunty Star? -tournament hosted by peikko. Therefore habeli is allowed to show off his super halfling star in all Grudge League tournaments! habeli's Sappe "Iron Chef" Butterbear is an exception to the star player rule just as the Goblin secret weapons. Very Happy

The Fangs have arrived!
An amazing first game for the Fangs to start the World's Edge Monumental Tournament. With only 9 players to start the match it was always going to be a tough matchup for the Belierand Brotherhood.
To further swing the odds in favour of the lizardmen, a large amount of ground Lustrian Vine Weed (known for its powerful laxative qualities) was smuggled into the Brotherhoods pre-match wine vial by chameleon skink agents.
The mixture hit the delicate constitution of the high elves hard, leaving three elves busy with "other duties" at kick-offs and the rest of the team worse for wear.
From there things went even worse at the first kick-off, a quick switch leaving the remaining elves facing a wall of Sauri! With all this against them the Brotherhood was unable to prevent the Fangs scoring early and as players were sent to the dugout the match went more against them. The final result was a 6-0 hammering for the Fangs. How they top this remains to be seen!

Grudge League reporter Emmerich Edelhertz caught up with Slann head coach Xel'naga after the match. Sadly the old coach seemed deep in thought on some grand plan and didn't respond to any questions (perhaps an interpreter is needed). Hopefully they can get some feedback next time!

World's Edge FAQ:

Q: <rale> how does the swiss work? all teams get random opponent with same points (wins&draws) or are they arranged with matching points & tds?
A: <Karhumies> the next round pairings will be RANDOMLY PICKED from the teams with an equal amount of points. If there are no teams with equal points, then we choose the team closest to your team in points. You can play versus each other team only once in the tourney

Q: <rale> when are round 2 pairings made?
A: <Karhumies> as soon as round 1 finishes

Q: <Panthos> can I retire my team and bring in a fresh one?
A: <Karhumies> any coach may retire one of his teams in GL at any time. he is allowed to replace it with a TR 100 team of any race which has a free slot into Grudge League (list can be found from group page)
<Karhumies> however, team points do NOT carry over to the new team. they start from 0.

Q: <shaman42> how does those tourney fillers work ?
Q: <dr_scitt> they were just byes for the first rounds due to having an odd number of players in each division. I believe karhumies intends to switch them with late starters if possible

Q: Can I still join World's Edge?
A: YES! We are looking for 2 more teams and possibly a third one as well. We had an odd amount of teams in the beginning and a Vampire coach just quitted

Recruitment info can be found here: http://fumbbl.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=5220

When we heard that we have to face Wood Elves in our first game, we had to
do some investigations and what did we find out... They got a tree in their team!
That is why we decided to hire a lumberjack called Nobbla Blackwart
to help us out. we are looking forward to meet our Woody friends...

Hey-ho, habeli. You are talking of a different tournament. =)

I think Kislev Open needs a thread. Feel free to create one if you like.

Match report from yesterday, The Jacks VS. Evermore Silver Bullets:

After a very long period with no games for the Jacks, the players had lost their grip of the game. The game started out pretty good. One of the opposing team's Vampires was knocked out, but a thrall managed to get the ball all the way to the end zone. At the next kickoff, the Jacks where inches away from an equalizing TD: Every thrall in the way was trampled down by the team's mad Chaos Warriors, and once the way was cleared, Jack-O-Lantern rushed forward, and if he hadn't failed to pass the ball a few short yards, Jack Daniel's would've ran in for the equalizing TD. The first half ended 1-0. Early in the 2nd half, both Vampires just ran through our defense dodging their way all the way to the ball, grabbed it, and headed for the end zone. All The Jacks could do was slow them down. Halfway through second half, the fighting had finally worn down the fragile thralls, several were injured or knocked out. At the final kickoff, the Jacks formed a cage and ran down field to secure their only goal this match.
Jack of Diamonds, the teams newest Chaos Warrior, who was thrown out from his very first game for fouling a bit too obvious, has gotten his first skill. He's showing some incredible potential and has gotten even stronger than en average Chaos Warrior. Diamonds (as he is called by his team mates) is becoming a real brute. After this defeat several of the new sign-ups for The Official The Jacks' Fan Club betrayed their new team, signed out and started cheering for the Vampire team.

TOURNAMENT INFO:

bloodelf's Highland Cows have made it to the World's Edge final!

During the exciting last round a lot of things happened.

1) The crowd favorite, Mr_QB's We wantss the powerss lost versus Jinxed's Necrophobic. A tie would have meant Mr_QB would be in the final match!

2) DanTitan76's Am-Khemri-Kanos won the match versus Flaming Falchion, racking up 2 reserve points. He took the lead and it strongly looked like he was going to the final match.

3)bloodelf's Highland Cows won their match versus Karhumies's Lissie and her friends, racking up 4 reserve points.

4) DanTitan76 and bloodelf were tied in points.

5) Their head-to-head resulted in a tie.

6) We take a look at the reserve points each team has collected, as according to the league's scoring rules.

7) Highland Cows got 24 reserve points (24½ if you count also halved points). Am-Khemri-Kanos got "only" 23 reserve points (24 if you count also halved points).

8 ) bloodelf advances to the final game!

Congratulations!
