Just a quick shout out to the fine people at Goldwave, who make a good shareware audio editor that's also cheap to buy.

Can anyone recommend any good freeware DVD audio rippers?

Audacity on Sourceforge is good, my gf used it on her Mac to edit a sound file for her ring tone. Sourceforge is my first stop for any free software.

Sourceforge is nice, but even better place is Freshmeat (.net) Theres usually more finished projects and general UI is better. Althought many open souce project can be found from both.
