what you mean the snow? or the fact the pics arent aligned?

If you by 'not aligned' mean that the pitch itself is jumping like a Goblin on a Pogo Stick that's it! Probably won't happen in the client I recon as it's static. Keep up the work guys!

OK, I put it up on a free hosting site and it looks like it has been accepted into the downloads section.

I'm going to look into this animated pitch idea but I have a feeling the client won't accept animated gif's...
I was also thinking of animated portraits for my players but didn't get round to trying it.

The fact that the pics aren't aligned is pretty anoying. It makes the screen... shaky.

Ski has said he doesnt like too many icons with animated GIFs becuase if the way the client handles the animations. It seems to use up way more computer ressources than seem necessary. The same thing probably goes for an animated weatherpitch. But since u can animate icons, i see no reason why u cant animate the pitch as well. I recently downloaded some animated weathericons (the little cion iin the right side of the client), so seems most anything can be animated if desired

yeah, thats because its an experiment to see what it would look like Smile there is 5 frames in the amimation, i think the client can only hold two, there is a Java applet that allows you to add weather effects to images... such code would be like (im not sure its Java)

Code:

The Very Sunny pitch is reminiscent of my own, in my V2 fields pack. It's nice to see another take on the Blizzard pitch, which is always the hardest to do. Animated pitches are the way to go, once Java sorts out that bug:

Sweltering Heat: Heat shimmer off the pitch
Very Sunny: Glinting surfaces
Rain: ...figure it out
Blizzard: Wot brownrob did, but without the jitter
Very Nice: Maybe some corner flags or something, fluttering in the light breeze.

Edit: I've said it before, but if anyone finds an image too bright for comfort on their screen, they need to adjust their screen. The best way to do that is to profile it. This website provides all the info you could need for setting your monitor up accurately:
http://www.normankoren.com/makingfineprints1A.html#Monitorsetup

Alternatively, just fiddle with your gamma settings in Display Properties (Windows)

Yep, I pointed that out in one of my posts and the downloads section. Hope you don't mind me borrowing the idea Smile
Your pitches are great, I just prefer to use dots rather than lines.

Those are nice ideas too! I don't have much time to do anything about animations at the moment though
Sad
Some day though...

Almost everywhere will accept animated GIFs. And they are not limited to 2 frame. It can be any number of frames. EXCEPT the pitch. The pitch is a special case where I load into static memory and paint on top of it. So only the first frame of an animated pitch would get used. And yes, Java has a bug where animated GIF use way more resources than they should. That's why I don't like to include animated gifs in the original download. But if you want to mod your client yourself with animation feel free. You might have a powerful enough computer that it won't make a difference. Smile

I'd like to see the animated weather icons as well. Smile

Also, animated gif player portraits should work fine.

You could probably even put animated gifs on the buttons and the cursor icons.

No problem, I encourage it. If there is anything I want to retain copyright of, you can be damn sure I'll not put it up on the Internet! The Internet is possibly the most derivitive, and at the same time most creative, venture mankind has embarked on in recent history. The two go together, I think.

[trekky pedantry]Get it right! Rolling Eyes The jumpsuits first came in on DS9, mainly due to P.S.'s complaints over the old spandex two-piece. And a jumpsuit would ride up in a much more uncomfortable place...[/trekky pedantry] Wink
