So the new edition is out.
Did you had any chanche to taste it? Is it better/worse? Discuss and comment please here.

I've played a few games using PBEM, and I enjoyed it. Sadly I got bored, because PBEM advances so slowly, and didn't get my team very high. But I still liked it.

Wrestle sucks. Worst new rule ever.

Apart from wrestle (which is a great skill but WAAAAAY unbalanced, the new rules sound quite good.

Sadly, it's just elfball, which I don't like.

Ive been complaining about wrestle since the first time I understood how it really works and how it affects the game.

But I have not tried 5.0 yet so I hope im wrong.

You take wrestle on an elven lino and at TR 100 you kick the hell outta every basher. They block you, you choose both down without injury, then you just stand up and run, while the slow and mighty BoBs and CWs can't do anything except being fouled or say bye bye while you go.

Have you actually tried it or is this theorybowl? Otoh every tr 100 elf team munches chaosteams for breakfast

The one nasty thing about elves taking wrestle on every player is facing the 'designated blitzer' every bashy team seem to have. You know, the guy with block, tackle, MB, PO, and Juggernaut. This guy will ruin your day since he'll put your players on their can 75% of the time with a 2db. Note that Jugg cancels out wrestle, which allows this guy to make your wrodger (wrestle/dodge) players to take an av roll on any form of knockdown. Ouch.

Wrestle is nice, but it's not a full-on replacement for Block.

I haven't heard anyone that actually played the game agree with you. How many LRB5 games have you played and at with and against what teams at what TV?

I wouldnt even call Wrestle nice. It's inferior to Block in almost every way.
The only decent purpose to it is to get your opponents on the ground to be fouled, which as we all know is not as effective as it used to be.
Wrestle will not help you get casualties so will slow your SPP generation, and if used on defence open up gaps for pesky players to run through if you're not careful.
Also if your opponent hits you and knows you have wrestle, assuming a 2d block, who says he's going to pick 'both down'? maybe he'll just settle with the push because he might not want one if his guys on the ground. or what it he specifically wants you to take both players down so he can run his little DP over and BOOT.

you get the idea. not a replacement or counter to block. not even close.

I ve not seen Wrestle be overpowered at all in 200+ Vault/PBBL/LRB5 league games. I m just happy that just maybe 90% of all first skill selections won t be Block.
