A few days ago, someone asked on the forums whether anyone had set up a FUMBBL Discord server. This had already been on my radar for a while, and I already had a server set up, so I figured I would simply link it on the thread and see if anyone was interested. Without any significant announcement, we now have around 50 coaches who joined and I thought it was time to make an official post about it.

What is Discord, you may ask. The people who run it call it an all-in-one voice and text chat that's free, secure and works on both your desktop and phone. It's also a chat tool that is becoming more and more popular in various circles because of its ease-of-use. While there are applications you can download for your computer (and mobile device), it runs perfectly well in a browser window.

To try it out, click on the button below which will take you to the server.

Join our Discord server

When you've joined, there are a few things you may want to know:

• Become a Verified FUMBBL User by sending a private message to BowlBot (on Discord) in the format "auth [site username]" (without quotes or brackets) and following the instructions.

• We expect everyone to use the same nickname on Discord as on the site. Therefore, nickname changing is not enabled on the server. You may contact a staff member to fix problems with nicknames. This should preferably be done at the same time as the user verification process outlined above.

• If you wish to use the voice chat functionality, you are required to use "Push to Talk". At the bottom left of the Discord window, there are three buttons next to your user name. Clicking the Cog shaped one (User Settings) and going to the "Voice" panel will allow you to set a Push to Talk shortcut. We suggest using one of your control keys for this purpose. Once this is done, and you join a voice channel, you will be able to talk to others by holding this shortcut button down while talking.
