I'm at a loss for words. This fund raiser has been a huge success and I'm again astounded and amazed at the generosity of the FUMBBL community.

Thank you everyone!

The donations made have covered not only the cost of the new server, but also some small improvements in the infrastructure (networking equipment and cables) for the site.

For those of you who are technically minded, this is a list of the stuff that's now part of the FUMBBL machine park:

- Intel Core i7-6800k
- 64GB Corsair DDR 4 memory (4x16GB)
- 2x 128 GB Samsung 850 Pro (system drives)
- 2x 1 TB Samsung 850 EVO (data drives for virtual machines)
- Corsair RM 750x power supply
- Noctua CPU cooler(NH-D9L)
- 2x Noctua 80mm case fans (NF-A8 FLX)
- 4x Intel Gigabit CT netowrk adapters
- Ubiquiti UniFi US-8-150W managed switch
- Ubiquiti UniFi Cloud Key
- A bunch of cabling (network and SATA cables)

I have spent a good part of this weekend installing and configuring this stuff. From a software perspective, it runs:

- Hyper-V Server 2016 as a hypervisor (Virtual Machine Host). This is the newly leveled up "Deeproot".
- pfSense as the first virtual guest. This is the new firewall, and has been named "Icepelt"
- Ubuntu Server 16.04 LTS as the second virtual guest. This is meant to be an infrastructure type VM and currently runs Postfix (the mail server). This one is named "Puggy".

My current plan is to continue the configuration process (pfSense has proven to be quite a nut to crack) over the next few evenings and then do a maintenance at some point this weekend to move the new hardware into its rightful place among the servers and do the final firewall configuration needed.

I'll probably make a post about the maintenance at some point later this week.

Again, thank you all again for your generosity and making it possible for me to keep the site up and running.

PS. If you have donated at some point between February 1st and the time of this newspost and haven't received your Save Deeproot icon, get in touch through a private message with some form of reference to a PayPal transaction (email, transaction id or item id) and I'll sort it out for you.
