There is no way in hell this is an actual official tournament right?
Posted by BillBrasky on 2016-03-15 14:20:20
It is indeed.
BillBrasky sanctioned. Azure approved.

So... the goal is to make the most cas... But I'm sure you have to actually advance in the KO cup by winning the game, right? So to make the format truly do as you say, shouldn't it be a round robin or a swiss?
Though I suppose it would be kind of cool if the team that winds up winning the tournament actually got knocked out of it in the quarterfinals. =D

It sounds like a ton of fun in [L], but I have some problems seeing it as a viable addition to the official tournaments. Especially the entry criteria seem to go directly against the normal guidelines.

So a Bloodbowl tournament for bloodbowl teams not really interested in, or built to be competitive in, bloodbowl. Odd.

Totally a (probably entertaining) [L]eague-competition.
Very strange if its supposed to be offical Box.

You guys are killing it. Well done. This isn't the first announcement in regards to this event.
To have a shot at the Cup you've still got to be able to win games. And no, not every race will have an equal shot at winning. Is it a permanent addition to the tournament calendar? Probably not, as I suspect there is a lack of automation to support this.
As a one off event it's a bit of a laugh, and brings a fresh element to a the tournament scene. It may also appeal to people that find the majority of competitive bloodbowl tournaments too serious and stale.
No one is forced to enter, so if it's not your cup of tea then play a different way. Constructive criticism is likely welcomed by the organisers, but snarky opinions and comments add nothing and invite further trolling.

Iam not apart of the carnage cup except for my limited capacity to promote majors and minors.
I can assure all of you this a one shot deal to test the waters of trying to "liven" up the Brawl scene with a unique event, similar to the outrageous and over the top FUBAR cup, which was also run inside the Brawl system.
I can understand why some coaches would ask, WHY? Why enter?
some coaches like these one off changes in the brawls to attempt to liven up the scene.
Posted by PainState on 2016-03-15 22:46:54
Oh, wait, you did not know that the BBBrawl already hosted a unique event?
Posted by pythrr on 2016-03-16 03:03:52
this is hillarious

It's not April the first is it?
Posted by Cloggy on 2016-03-16 12:03:37
No, this is apparently really serious. What's next? An Elves only minor where the team with the most completions wins?

I'm curious to know how you have any involvement in this tournament, other than as a participant, when you're not even on the Tournament Staff....
Posted by Azure on 2016-03-16 16:06:24
Bill and PainState are both loyally promoting news of the Carnage Cup at my request. Thanks to you both.
Not everyone's cup of tea...but there was some requests for a more no-holds barred brawl - and this is is.
Standard KO tournament, advance by winning...but the ultimate prize goes to the team with the most CAS inflicted.
Posted by Purplegoo on 2016-03-16 16:22:18
I am all for getting away from the FUMBBL standard straight KO official tournament, the format is a bit samey / flawed / delete as applicable. But this is...
No doubt as a non Box consumer, people will be quick to tell me it's nothing to do with me. But still.
Posted by PainState on 2016-03-16 19:37:35
Oh, no. The shadow has returned and is now hunting Milford.
Lucky for Milford he is traveling with what seems like a dark wizard to the Carnage cup. Maybe he can fend off the shadow. Last time the Shadow showed up he took down Krikack the Avatar of destruction!!!
Always remember my friends, FLUFF can kill you.
Posted by PainState on 2016-03-16 19:39:40
Purplegoo this has no effect what so ever to do with you, you have no interest. But still.....you still...... right.
Posted by PainState on 2016-03-16 19:44:16
Come on shadow 46X2, are you stating or implying that non tournament staff members cannot engage or help official staff members to make the tournament scene better?
Posted by shadow46x2 on 2016-03-16 20:09:43
That's not what I'm implying at all..
I'm implying that people shouldn't be telling coaches to speak to them if they have questions about Official Tournaments, when they aren't on the Tournament Staff.
Any and all questions regarding Official Tournaments, should be directed to OFFICIAL TOURNAMENT STAFF ONLY, and in this case, it would be Azure specifically.
To clarify, my viewpoints have exactly zero to do with your fluff posts hyping tournaments. That was a done deal long ago, and it serves a good purpose for the tournament scene. My viewpoints are strictly for tournament-specific questions.

I have an interest in all things FUMBBL. Even if I would not participate in this tournament, it is a development that raises at least one eyebrow.
I'm sure it's obvious that you can chalk me up as a 'con' on this. But you guys have fun.
