If you can keep your head when luck deserts you
And lose without blaming it on dice;
If you can back yourself against a stronger coach
Yet still learn from their advice;

If you can stand up your players and make your moves
Before your riskier actions begin,
But know when to do the exact reverse
To take the chance to win;

If you can learn to prioritise the ball
And how best to cage and screen,
Then apply it to when you are in defence
To protect the key players in your team;

If you can refrain from rolling too many dice
And with the best odds when you must,
But not be scared to chance a roll
When it is boom or bust;

If you can tell the difference between luck and skill
And judge what influenced each game;
If you can learn the many rosters
And see how they are different but the same;

If you can bear to see your best players die
By bad luck or your own mistakes,
Or watch your treasured team destroyed
And accept that as their fate;

If you can minimise your risk when winning
But find hope when all seems lost;
If you can learn to master your positioning
But know when sacrificing it, is worth the cost;

If you can think and not get stuck thinking,
Not play too fast, nor play too slow;
If you can apply the lessons that you've learned
But not be confined to what you know;

If you can talk with pro's without being self-righteous
And help beginners with patience and tact;
If you can make friends whilst you are playing
And find a way to give something back;

If you can fill no more than four minutes
With all of this happily done,
You'll have learned what it is to play Bloodbowl
And - which is more - you'll be a Coach, my son!
