And when I say 'footballer of the year,' I mean 'internationally ridiculed painted fool in love with the highest bidder/blondest tramp willing to open her legs'.

Ronaldo is known for his injuries. It could be a severe hand injury, which might cause problem due to the pain in itself. And football players do need their hands/arms to win physical battles against their defenders.

Then again 5 weeks for a hand injury on a player who is not a goalie..is interesting.

You ever tried running with a broken hand or some muscles torn off? No.

Try it, its horrible with the wrong kind of break it hurts at every step.

Many professional athletes have played on/continued with particularly bad injuries.

I'd suggest that it's his team physio that stepped in. The insurance for footie players would likely ensure that they wouldn't pay out if the injury worsened. Worth checking tho'. Anyone?

I don't know if this is common practice in soccer, but in hockey, everybody lies about their injuries, to keep other players from targeting those areas in future games. It seems like a hand injury would be the perfect lie, since there's no great way to try to re-injure him there without it being obvious.

Im with you, I think that a footballer should be able to play on fine with a hand injury. Footballers are not supposed to use their hands to win a tackle and should not need to regardless.

since it is unlikely he will sit in a chair until its fully healed i dont see any reason why he shouldnt continue to play football as long as hes sensible.

Though insurance people and footballers are universally ridiculously cautious it seems these days, so im not surprised in the least that he should be sidelined.

Well, if he injured his hand during a match... then it is easy to think that it could happena gain during a match! One more fall and that 4-5 week injury could become much more severe.
